  1. I wonder what she would do if the visiting students showed up painted? Alot of kids do the painting at games now. I asked her that question. Very good point! I agree. I would hope the same rules would apply to visiting students!! Alot of schools apply the same dress code that they have at school for all extra curricular events. I was in the meeting at the school the following Monday, "ALL visitors can show up painted without shirts, SHS students can not."
  2. From no shirts to child molesters, getting abducted and teachers sleeping with students? If nothing else, some of you can sure go off an a tangent or have a vivid imagination. Some will also go to any end to make an argument, no matter how far fetched. Excessive ? Well, so is there punishment!
  3. Ok.....let me tell you a few facts. 1. Gaye Lokey said that if the opposing team showed up painted, fine with her, it would be allowed if the opposing teams school was fine with it. 2. She also stated that she can not and will not enforce dress code at football games. Had the guys had "wifebeaters" on, that would have been fine even though there is policy against it. 3. The kids involved all have clean school records and are not behavior problems. This is not typical behavior. 4. Gaye Lokey told them at the game before that one when asked what she thought about it(their painted chests) from the students, she stated "I LIKE IT!!" 5.The assistant principal told the kids : "If you remove your shirts, you'll be kicked out of the game." He gave the rule and told them what the consequence would be if they did it. BUT then on Monday he decided he would add more to it and even ban them from homecoming. The senoirs involved will not get this back. 6. What is being argued here is the severity of the punishment and how can you just "decide" something that has always happened? If he decided next week that he doesn't like Nike shoes and wants you to take them off and throw them away right then.......do you comply? 7. Unless some sort of resolution is found in a meeting on Monday, it will be heard by the school board on Tuesday. 8.According to the assistant principal involved in all this, he decided after the Kelly game the previos week that chest painting would not be allowed. Why were the students not informed??? They do have PA systems and tv's in every classroom that scroll announcements. The kids would have been given the oppourtunity at that point to plead their case and ask questions. These are great kids. Kids that are in the top ten percent, presidents of clubs, leaders in their church. The few that have strayed and started doing "better" things on Friday than the football game, have got involved because thay think it's cool and now attend games. At least they did until now. I am PROUD of these kids for standing up for what they believe in. These are kids who DO have respect for authority and have not had problems in the past. These are kids that will soon lead our country. To teach them to "just what someone tells you to if they are in authority no matter what" is scary. In this day of time with teachers sleeping with students, getting molested, abducted, etc...........that could be a very dangerous teaching. Scrubs, I am proud of your bravery and courage no matter the outcome. Good luck and STAND FIRM!!!!
  4. If you read all the comments on the beaumontenterprise.com article, you will get the whole story.
  5. Are there any Div. 2 teams that have any room for a previous Div. 2 player that has missed the tryouts?
  6. We missed all tryouts due to vacation. My son has played Div 2 for the last 5 years and his team from Spidletop disolved this year. Are there any teams in this area that I can get in touch with about playing with this year. He would play U-18 or up.
  7. I say yes!!! How will you get a soccer club without a SOCCER coach. Not a 8th grade PE coach. I am speaking from a losing team...year after year. It is not that some of these schools do not have some talent, if the team can not be put together with the strengths of the players, how will they ever have a good soccer club?
  8. Watching Lumberton play earlier in the year, there should be NO reason for them to lose to Central. If Silsbee can keep Central to a 1-0 game......think about it!
  9. men yall talking about cheap shots all the teams in district doesent want central to win any of their game because yall are intimarated with our skills... I don't know what intimarated is, but I don't think anyone is intimidated of your skills! Central does have some players with good foot skills, but how you play as a TEAM is what makes you a good TEAM.
  10. isnt there some type of limit you can have for ejections, until they are suspended indefinitely? If there isn't. maybe they will be to old to play high school sports!
  11. I believe that they were both warranted. The second card was for shoving a player after a CLEAN slide tackle and then cussing the ref. I think the saddest part of the entire game is that the coach thought all of the play was good and clean. Soccer is a rough and physical sport, but when your team crosses the line from physical to cheap shots as #12 did all night, it is no longer a sport.
  12. What happen to the McDonald kid? He was quarterback on the jv team that was 6-0 his soph. year. Jeremy was hurt most of last year??? Harris or McDonald would be my choices but I'm not the coach!!!
