  1. My thoughts of the game.....I was very impressed with the size of the Pirates up front in the trenches, especially on defense. They played good disciplined assignments like a well coached team. The would stand up the Mustang O line to where the linebackers could hit the gaps where the runner was coming in. Buxton looks great at QB for only being a sophomore. Handed the ball off well and would get a minimum of 6+ yards on the read option while many times going 15 or more yards. Defense looked good for who they were playing. Didn't get to see any type of secondary action as Burkeville only ran the ball and the Pirates were just stacking the box and the corners playing in. Wish we could have seen more of a challenge to the secondary but it is what it is. I know I'm bouncing around here, but I'm just trying as I think. Lol. You could tell a HUGE difference in the discipline of the team in a whole. Amazing what happens when you get a real football coach! Another thing is the whole team is loaded with freshman and sophomores, hopefully Prouse stays around because these kids can be something special for Deweyville in the seasons to come....something the Town of Deweyville hasn't seen in years. The kicking game wasn't bad, the PAT's were mostly made except for two of the TD's I believe. Toe punch kicker, but he was effective. Kickoffs we're ok but could get them in a bind down the road, most of them went maybe to the 35-40 yard line. Good news is the Pirates have a ton of speed and cover the kicks very, very well and caused a few fumbles with that speed and hitting ability...they fly to the ball. One thing I'm a little disappointed in is the offense staying sort of vanilla. I wish Prouse would have let Buxton throw the ball a few times because the competition in their district is going to be tough and they need to use games like this to practice anything and everything. I know the boy can throw, he's a neck of a baseball player and they all have great speed on the outside and even the RB's. Of course if you are running the ball through them like warm butter all night, I guess you don't get fancy. Also wish my stepson #6 could have played but I understand Coach Prouses decision to keep him out. He suffered a high ankle sprain a little after 2 a days and then re aggravated it yesterday at practice. He is an important part of the team and there was no reason to put him in during a blowout. Once again, a good coach does that! He is going to get an MRI in the morning so please say some prayers that it's not that bad. Anyways, great look from the young Pirates, can't wait to continue to watch them!
  2. Perfect, thanks for answering my question. I asked PNG fans to answer because I know y'all would be unbiased. Oh and from what I have seen in that little 2 min Vype video. RJ is the truth. No hype. I'll be following and rooting on for the NDNs! Lets get both of our teams to make a run in 5A and 4A!!!!! Nothing like SETX football! Good luck PNG and I pray y'all will stay healthy and can represent our area like I believe y'all will!!
  3. Oh, and also, we're talking about a coach that always knows WOS can be better. Heck, if I'm not mistaken, he wasn't too happy about the Navarro Semi Final last year. At least I'm pretty sure that was the game. And we won 49-7 or something like that. And you know Ash, Cocah T will never show his hand and will always expect nothing but perfection in a game for all 48 minutes. If it's not 112%, it's not good enough. That's why he is a legendary coach.
  4. I figured that. Just wanted to take a shot at Ronnie. I owe him some grief from when we were kids. Lol!
  5. Well, from listening to what Ronnie is saying, he is making it out like WOS is garbage. Easy to jump on the bandwagon I see. Not talking about you, Ash.
  6. So, the PNG peeps didn't answer my question. Do y'all think, objectively, WOS has a championship caliber team again?
  7. With PNG having a UT commit, they have to do two things. Protect him and give him options. Spread it out and run atleast 2 receivers on intermediate routes. That will tie up the line backers and ease a pass rush. Then RJ can look at the primary but knows he can check down or atleast have a wrinkle to run. Tom Brady and the Pats are masters at it. Dink and dunk until the the long ball or "strike" is open.
  8. Final?? My stepson didn't play because he rolled his ankle yesterday in practice(he's ok, just precautionary)
  9. That's my point about PNG. We all know what RJ can do. However, in my opinion, for him to be the player he is and be more, the NDNs HAVE to get a good running game. No, I'm not an expert but I have seen this before. 2005 WOS......even though we had a young Earl Thomas at RB, we had an amazing QB in Deion Beasly. We ran through district and the playoffs basically using Deion speed and athleticism that no one could match. In my opinion, it was Deion left, Deion right and the pass was secondary. Then we ran into a team that knew all they had to do was stop those plays. That was Wimberley. Yes, our Defence gave up the most points in our history but if we would have been a little more balanced on offense and not relied on our QB so much, we probably could have atleast kept up with their scoring. Or maybe went up a few TD's and the D would haven't have had to be on the field so long.
  10. Although I wasn't there, sounds like it was a great scrimmage. Hopefully both of our teams found some bright spots and suspect spots. Let's face it, both of our teams have HUGE expectations this year and are no threat to one another's season. I have a very good feeling about the NDN's this year. My only hope is they don't rely mostly on Roschon. For a QB as good as him to be effective, you have to have a good running game to set him up and let him do his thing. On the flip side of the coin, I hope Roshon doesn't feel he has to put the whole team on his back to have success. Anyways, I've always been a fan of PNG(when they weren't in our district lol) scalp 'em! On our side, how did we look? This won't be a fair question most likely, but I'm asking PNG fans only here. Could you NDNs tell a huge difference in this years Mustangs vs last years? Or do y'all honestly think we can make another run????
  11. Well, with what people have been saying about "WOS losing their whole team" this is the first test to see how the new guys fill the shoes. Let's face it, WOS had been in the SC the past three seasons. Everyone wants to know how they will look with a new face at QB and O/D line.
  12. Same here!! Wish KOGT would have broadcast it. PNG have a broadcast??
  13. Lil Tex rides off into the sunset while all area HS teams look great in their first scrimmage......more to come at 10pm.....
  14. When Coach T talks about "blue collar", he's speaking the truth and nothing but the truth! Lol
  15. I haven't heard that. However, most "transfers" can't make it with the grueling demands of the "Mustang Way". No homerism here , seriously, but there is no other HS football team in the area or maybe even the state that can compare to the physical and mental demands of WOS practice. Yeah, just practices. Honestly, my first college practice had me confused. I was so used to a certain way that I honestly thought it was a joke. Trust me, any former Mustang that was lucky enough to keep playing beyond HS will tell you the same thing. The only way I can describe playing for WOS is military. That's the honest truth. Put it this way, we could beat a team 73-0(yes it happened) but if we made even a peep on the buss ride home, we were running stands. Either that night or the next morning if the game was on a Friday. Trust me, I lived it!!
  16. Could quite possibly be the best two teams to represent SETX and Reg3 this year in both their divisions. We shall see.
  17. Yeah, the D line was part of my question mark, just forgot to say that. Of course the "bell cow" would help with our D line. Bad thing that is almost impossible to replace Mandel, big Moe, and TeRon. Let's face it, we dang near had a college defense up front the past few years. We return 2 or 3 on the O line correct? Like we always say down Newton ST. In the city of West Orange,......next man up!!! Remember, we returned 3 starters for the 2015 season and everyone wrote us off as a "rebuilding year" The results??? Well, we all know....
  18. Good deal. Was just confused(which doesn't take much for me as you know, lol) because of what he said.
  19. Going to be a great scrimmage Friday. This is the type of competition both PNG and WOS need so they can expose each other's weaknesses. WOS will have a very young team but don't let the "returning starters" fool you. Most of them had dang near as much or more PT last season because of the lopsided scores. As you PNG people say, your D is going to be the question mark. WOS question marks will be at QB and defense, mostly linebacker. We need to find another "bell cow" like Justin Brown at the second level of defense and see what CW can do at QB. However, like previously stated, CW has had a crap load of PT behind Jack Dallas the past couple of years. Heard he was very intelligent kid and learned a lot about reading the defense from JD3. Also wish I could be there so I can watch Roshaun(sp?) in person. Heard he's a helluva QB. Either way, it's great for both teams.
  20. My stepson just said they scrimmage Kelly at 6pm in Deweyville Friday. The scrimmage thread shows BC vs Kelly. Was that a mistake 'grad?
