  1. Sad part here is that most of Lumberton supports Nederland, PNG and other local teams come playoff time. Heck many people in our community today are mid county graduates. Personally, I supported PNG back in the 70's while living in Lumberton as they made their playoff run in Dallas area. Don't generalize about the Lumberton community. This is new ground (undefeated later in the season) for us. Rivals? Well we had a good one in Silsbee but classification changes took that away. Good Luck to all.
  2. I know exactly but do you? Hint: Notice the decline @ PNG since he left?
  3. Bullet44, the defense post meant to be funny - 8-7 or 9-8 defense means PNG will think there is 15 to 17 players on the field at one time for Lumberton's Dee-Fence.
  4. Preach on Mav, Preach On! NDNs fans just don't get it (but I understand why) - Can't wait to see their jaws hit the floor when the Raiders D are on the field
  5. I have seen PNG/LCM and PNG/NED play on Time Warner - Soild team but Raiders will have them covered How many games have the NDN's seen Lumberton Play?
  6. You guys really think the NDNs will take 3rd place? After the L-train rolls, you still have to deal with Central and Dayton.
  7. Did I just hear that right? RESPECT thrown our way? Thanks guys Glad to see some real sports experts recognize this! They won't disappoint.
  8. I love the mid country fans - The L-Train fans will be blowin' up the SMACK ATTACK phone line on that "long ride home". Eliminate their own self destructing mistakes and Nederalnd should have blown up the NDNs. What are we worried about L-Train 38 NDNs 14
  9. Anyone else watching Ned / PNG game right now? Ned hurt themselves in the first half - So far Ned looks like the better team if they eliminate the mistakes I am feel better and better about Friday night at the REZ
  10. Read it an weep PF PA Lumberton 207 48 PNG 133 74 I will be impressed if PNG scores more than 14 since no one has been able to do that yet this year!
  11. Is this the same Bulldog team that Central shutdown in 2nd half? Just wondering?
  12. Please keep telling Lumberton with each win every week it is an UPSET - We love that stuff! Dayton's win surprised the fans - not the players Central's win surprised no one (except the Beaumont Enterprise "Lumberton Stuns Central") - it was expected. Call it what you want - We love it.
  13. Around halftime PNG will be wondering if it is a 8-7 or 9-8 defense as the Raiders swarm and gang takle deep in the backfield.
  14. Wow, even the Bulldog fans are rooting for their rival NDNS - AMAZING. One of two things: 1st They want PNG to win to make their loss more credible OR 2nd They too are scared of the “unknown L-Train†come last game of the district season Whatever the reason, Lumberton has taken “it†for 40 years, nice to give it out some now! Flame on Mid County, we will see who is smiling Friday night.
  15. Akifan94 I understand your biased opinion just like mine but I can explain in more detail if you would like. This is based on only seeing PNG play LCM. My opinions may change after I watch the NED/PNG game tonight. Size? I see both teams are equal in size but Lumberton will have the speed advantage. When Lumberton contained Dayton and shutdown Central offenses, I knew we had a great defense. Do you think a 6'2" 225 Hemmings is weak? NO but it appears he IS the PNG offense. Our defensive speed and size will contain him. Did you watch Josh Wright in the Ned game? NO, I will watch that game tonight. As far as LCM, yes they were overmatched by PNG but in the first half it was a pretty evenly matched game on both sides. I know you are an Indian faithful much like others here. I have tried to explain since most folks have not seen this year Raiders what they are all about. Throw away any preconceived notions of Raider teams of the past. The boys are something special. It is hard to understand if you have not seen them. What makes this game interesting is between the teams, we do not have a common district opponent we have played yet to gauge each team with. Less than 60 hours to kickoff – May the best team win. PS – We have already made plans for Airboat parking at Port Neches park. The coast guard will escort us back up the Neches thru Village Creek after the game.
  16. For some insight into Friday nights game, Raider fans go watch PNG play LCM on Time Warner "Video on Demand". It will make you feel REAL good about the matchups @ the REZ. Lumberton / PNG will also be the featured TV game on Time Warners Friday Night Experience so the rest of Southeast Texas will get to see first hand what the Dayton, Vidor and Central fans have witnessed thus far this year.
  17. Akifan94, I know it is hard to understand - It is hard for me being a long time Raider fan to comprehend. All will see come Friday night. The only thing I am trying to figure out is what "excuses" is everyone going to use to downplay the win over PNG PNG not that good anyway? Emotionally let down after MCM? Referees called a bad game? What is the Lumberton haters gonna say Sunday Morning?
  18. Watching the LCM/PNG game and comparing to the Lumberton team, I did not see anything that made be go WOW, this team is unstoppable or watch out for "that" kid. Yes, PNG looked like a well coached team and executed but comparing them to the Raiders I see a lopsided match up in the Raiders favor. If we lose? Well anything can happen, that is why they play the games. I will tip my hat to PNG and say good job. I was expressing to others this is not a normal Lumberton team OR weak opponents - This is something real. Heck, I bet a good percentage of Lumberton players parents are PNG / Nederland graduates back in the day - The Raiders have good genes.
  19. I have been reading this forum all season (mostly for comedic value). My prediction is…. Lumberton 38 PNG 14 And here is why. PNG is coming off its biggest game/win of the year and can help but have a let down after an emotional win against your rival coupled with the fact PNG has a preconceived notion that the same old “small and slow†Lumberton team will show up. If the LCM/PNG game is any indication of what PNG has for Lumberton, it will be a long night for the home team (no disrespect, just my opinion). If you have not attended a Lumberton game this year, you would not understand what this team is about. Even to date, I do not believe Lumberton has put together a complete game on both sides of the ball. Example, the Central game should have been much worst than a 3 touchdown victory but offensive mistakes killed some scoring drives. There is something special happening in Hardin County right now with this group of young men. No disrespect to PNG and others in the district. This is one of those special moments in sports where all of the stars and moons have lined up for a team (“in the zoneâ€) At 10:00 pm on Friday night, I will just sit back, smile and enjoy every minute of the win for the Raiders. This has been 40 years in the making and I have been there for almost all of them. Good Luck to both teams, stay safe and show good sportsmanship all night long.
