  1. So THIS is what it's like to stay home on Friday night!!!! Yucckkkkkk!!!! Is anybody else out there? Waiting for updates on Giddings vs. Sealy while listening to Dayton vs. Crosby and watching tv. What a life! I'd rather be watching the Mustangs kick booty!
  2. Gosh, HJ may have more students than WOS next year.
  3. Kelly scrimmaged WOS last year, too. Or was it a JV game? Maybe somebody in Kelly-land can confirm that.
  4. I know at WOS, people EXPECT to win. Players know that when they decide they want to be Mustangs, it is not without hard work, long hours and P.O.T. It has now come the second generation....if a former Mustang has a son playing on the team, he expresses to his son the tradition and spirit of the team and the rules of the silver and blue. It does not matter who the player is, if he screws up, he gets a P.O.T. That is the history and the tradition of WOS. However, it comes with great reward....the winningest program in Texas high school football.
  5. Furthermore, a school is associated with a coach, with a coach being associated with a school....not sure what the "not naming names is all about." LOL.... :-\
  6. I love to watch Quinny on the kickoffs. He flat gets down the field and is there before the receiver can say squat. Good article
  7. First of all, I want everyone to know that the following is strictly MY opinion, no one else has to share it with me. I think Coach Alvarez has done a fine job with K'ville, but he was picked to win district and he did not, so he does not deserve COTY. Coach Brooks also has done a fine job turning Jasper around, but he, too, did not win district. Coach Hooks was NOT picked to win district and he did. 22-4A: That is a tough call. It was a three-way tie, but Lumberton wasn't expected to win and they did. I'd have to go with Credeur, or either a co-COTY.
  8. I have heard even some coaches from WOS admit that Coldspring has some athletes. They are not taking them lightly. I just hope our athletes are better and more numerous than theirs. lol
  9. I thought it was interesting that they stated that Long "did the right thing" by allowing the clock to run continuously in the second half. Wouldn't you think that the one getting trampled would be the one to agree to "allow the clock to run" and not be up to the team trampling. THAT should have been a given and IMO Westlake should not be applauded for "doing the right thing". The mercy rule should be to allow the clock to run, simple as that.
  10. People seem to forget that we beat Giddings the first time and they won the second time. We had a hurdle from LaMarque for years and finally overcame it in 2000. I firmly believe our meeting with Giddings this year will be victorious for the Mustangs.
  11. Basketball team/football team....may be some of the same athletes...not the same discipline. Just my opinion. I'm not trying to downplay the importance of focus...just stating that I think 22-3A is grasping. I hope they will be gasping after Saturday night.
  12. Very well said 92....they have already exceeded expectations.
  13. Thank you for your post, G. It was nice to have it all put into perspective directly from the horse's mouth. There are a lot of schools in the area for only a couple of guys to cover. And purple...thank you for recognizing and acknowledging that you misread my post. I appreciate that.
  14. There is another post on here that has the newspaper articles written (I think from the Cleveland Sun)? (If you are interested in articles.
  15. I was thinking that the lead singer for Toto is actually from Vinton. I had heard that years ago.
  16. Amen. The "real" football season starts in January. I've heard it over and over for years.
  17. Wait a second! First of all, I was being light-hearted with my comment, but was referring to your sarcastic "WEST ORANGE ENTERPRISE". (And I went back and looked and "V" made that comment, not you, so my post wasn't directed at you, Purple) I didn't know you were going to take my response so personally. I understand where you are coming from, but I'd like for you to understand the news media in the area. I feel sorry for the Orange Leader and KOGT. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I heard someone in the stands last year complaining that KOGT wasn't covering a WOS game which very well could have been the game of the week. However, at the beginning of the season when KOGT booked their spots, they could not have aniticipated that particular game would have been the game of the week. They do the best they can with all of the schools in the area that expect coverage. Same with the Orange Leader. There are 5 schools in Orange County. Add to that Deweyville (which also deserves coverage) and a bit of news from other "area" schools, and you have an extremely short-handed overworked couple of reporters from the Orange Leader. I feel for those guys, too, because if one school gets a bigger picture on it than another school, the phone calls start. I am as big a fan of WOS as anybody else, but I cannot stand for ANY fans (from any school) to persecute the press for lack of coverage. And YOUR post, sir, was a cut at the Beaumont Enterprise aimed at their coverage of WOS. If it were not, you would not have called it the West Orange Enterprise. I apologize to you for trying to be funny with MY post, but certainly did not expect a response like that from you. You need to put yourself in the place of those reporters and pick up a pen if you think you can do a better job.
  18. I don't know what your BE looks like when it gets to your house, but I darned sure don't see an over-abundance of WOS in it! As a matter of fact, I have to hunt with a magnifying glass for WOS info. I know....maybe they have our subscriptions mixed up. Maybe the paper with all the WOS stuff should have come to my house, and they printed all the WB stuff and put it in MY paper. As for calling it the West Orange Enterprise....you've been drinking too much koolaid.
  19. Was wondering if we could see a playoff bracket with district only wins instead of overall wins. On the current bracket we see some teams with a 4-6 record, but looking at that, we have no idea how tough their pre-season games were, etc. They may have only one district loss but lost all pre-season games (ex. Wimberly-I think they only have 4 or 5 teams in their district. Their overall record shows a losing season, yet they are in the playoffs) I don't know if anyone else would be interested in this or not?
  20. The game was also late getting started because of BC's PRE-GAME introductions. You'd think they could have planned it better! Don't let the band perform if they are going to do it at half-time, otherwise, start earlier and do all of it before the game.
  21. I heard that they are supposed to write them up, but heard that our coaches asked the officials not to since BC has had such a rough season. That being said, IMO, there should have been at LEAST a delay of game penalty after halftime.
  22. From what I've heard, Smiley is not going to be a cake walk for L'ton. I really think they will have their hands full. That being said, it is crap that the rules were changed at the nth hour and not at all right. However, Dayton can always make an appeal to the UIL to see if they will intervene and change the rule back. Changing rules is NOT right!
  23. BINGO!!!!! I was wondering when you were finally going to admit that!!!! There's those "powers that be".
