  1. By the way, nice win against Legget. Were all the Junior High girls teams booked up? 57-29
  2. You again bushleague? Students - EC 368 Hardin 360 I guess those eight students are the difference between 1st and 3rd... Again, it was 57-29
  3. EC 59 Hardin 29 They didn't play the same team in the playoffs.
  4. Third place at anything is an accomplishment for Hardin. Just like football.
  5. NW does look very good. They are in Region IV so if anyone on Region III has to play them, it's in Austin. That's the good news.
  6. Hey Bush (aptly named and I don't mean the president), it must really stink then because they win most the time.
  7. OK, I'll bite... Congrats go to Kountze in beating last years district champs...You have a fine team... You've now won 13 out of the last 14 district championships...That's a very good record...
  8. Kountze DID NOT win the district championship tonight. That was decided Tuesday and Kountze / EC are co-district champions. Tonight's game was to see who received the #1 seed in the playoffs. Just like last year when EC won this game. Don't let the facts get in the way of a good headline.
  9. Hornet, I think you may need to update the cute little caption you have there... Maybe "Three out of five - We took a dive"...
  10. Yes, you're off on basketball. EC's record against Warren is very one sided. EC's district champoinships in track is very impressive. A few years ago is was over 20 consecutive years. Not sure about the last couple. I'll give you golf, cross country and maybe checkers. You must be very proud. To change the subject...How about those Horns last night?
  11. What planet do you live on? Went past the second round in 05? Who did they lose to? EC In all the basketball games between EC and Warren in the last 5 years, Warren has won twice. Both non-district games. Football? Don't make me laugh. Warren is always one of the easiest games on the schedule. Track? Too funny. I amazes me how people can just make up stuff and think folks will believe it. Don't know a darn thing about baseball.
  12. Well Warfan, I think we can agree on one thing. HS basketball is not played like it was 30 years ago. I remember everything revolved around the post up game and jump shoots. Once in awhile you would see a zone full court press. Reaching was an automatic foul whether you touched the other player or not. Today's players are bigger, quicker and start playing at a very early age. It's a different game that in the 70's but no less exciting. You can reminisce about the 'good old days' or 'fundamentals' but reality is the quicker, more athletic, pressing teams have a big advantage in today's game. EC and Kountze see the pressing defense every day at practice. They schedule predistrict to face those type of teams to get ready for their playoff runs. And no it doesn't suprise me that the more aggressive team sometimes has fewer fouls.
  13. I predict whether Kountze wins by 5 or 25, Warfan will blame the refs.
  14. Yes, the whole world is against Warren. We all get together late summer and plan on how we're going to mess them over and plan our attack. It's only fair - right? No school should be able to accumulate all that talent and skill; it's the only way we can compete. It's the same every year in all sports when it comes to the mighty Warriors. Lofty predictions and goals, yet in the end the results are always the same. When the records are in they resort to the lowest form of sportsmanship - they blame the refs. That way at least they can tarnish the accomplishments of their opponents. The facts is Warren is in the second smallest classification in the state of Texas and didn't even win enough games to rank in the top three in their own district and qualify for the playoffs. I have a news flash for you Warfan...The Mighty Warriors are not very good.
  15. Records? Lets go back 4 years - or 5 years - or 10 years of Warrens record against EC. They can't help it if Warren plays a bunch of chumps pre-district and has a better 'record'. That means nothing. Kountze wins state championships...Year in / year out EC produces good teams...Then there's the rest...
  16. Geez....Warren isn't in the playoffs because they didn't win enough games. When was the last time Warren has beaten EC at anything? And it's always the refs....Quit whinning
  17. No, Marsh travels too much. Although he is pretty much a one man team.
  18. Not at all. Kountze has the right to claim to be the district champion, even though it was shared. That's the way the district bylaws read. Plus they won the games in '05 and '07 that really mattered, the one in Tyler.
  19. '05 they were co-champs with Kountze winning the playoff for the #1 seed. '06 Kountze won outright. '07 co-champs with EC winning the seeding game. '08 is yet to be determined.
  20. Right...And EC will be shooting for their 3rd championship in 4 years...In the SAME district...
  21. HD is losing by 28 for gosh sakes. How can you be blamming the refs?
  22. [Hidden Content] Cats' latest recruit 'real deal' JOHN MOREDICH Tucson Citizen College coaches called the East Chambers High football offices all year, asking for a highlight tape of Tramain Thomas, the University of Arizona's newest committed player. The reply was always the same. "I just told them to watch every game we played. He was a highlight. He is really special," East Chambers football coach Tony Valastro said Thursday. Thomas, the southern Texas defensive player of the year, operated as a combo quarterback, safety and punt returner. He said he called UA offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh on Christmas Day to tell the Wildcats he wanted to play for them during the 2008 season. "I knew after visiting that I really liked it there and wanted to play there," Thomas said. The Wildcats are likely to give the Winnie, Texas, star his first look as either a receiver or safety. "Thomas is one of the best athletes I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of good ones in our area over the years," Deweyville coach Dwight Bickham told The Orange Leader newspaper. "He's so hard to contain. You may think you have him bottled up, and all of a sudden he goes 80 (yards) on you." "He can play about anywhere," Valastro said. "He has such great instincts. And he is a fantastic basketball player as well. He knows what he's going to do before anybody else can even figure it out, and he takes that type of play onto the football field as well. "We play at a small school, but he could play for anybody, trust me. He is the real deal." Thomas rushed for 1,352 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior while passing for 863 yards and five scores. He had 50 rushing TDs and 25 TD passes during his high school career, according to his coach. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect also had 61 tackles as a junior. He picked off 11 passes this season, returning three for touchdowns. Thomas said he had narrowed his choices to Iowa State and Texas Tech before committing to the Wildcats. Nothing is binding until letters of intents are signed in February.
  23. I don't know about that. I think Tatum can beat Blooming Grove.
  24. Cisco sure is looking good in Div II. Div I should come out of region 3. Looks like the winnier out of Tatum and McGregor will have the inside track.
  25. Congrats to Buna on a good season. You're still not the 'New Sheriff in Town' as some Buna folks predicted when you dropped to 2A, but at least you made it to Chief Deputy. I still don't understand the reasoning behind playing Newton on turf. Just a half step is the difference between a 2 yard loss and an 80 yard TD. Why wouldn't Buna try and play to their strength (power) instead of allowing the opposition (speed) to play to theirs?
