  1. If what I heard from an eye witness at all three games between Brenham and LC was accurate, the same pitcher that pitched a complete game 7 inning win in game won on thursday, came in in game three and pitched final 6 innings on Saturday to get the win, He pitched close to 200 pitches in less than 48 hours time. LC will get beat in 2 games by friendswood because they obviously have no pitching depth, but that kid will never be the same this weekend. And the Coach should be removed of his duties immediately and brought up on charges of child abuse!!! How can a parent allow someone to do that to there child???? Simply idiotic and unexcuseable. They person also mentioned the fans from both sides were very vocal and at times rude, the only difference was this, the out of control individuals on Brenham side were 18-20 years of age, the out of control individuals on LC side were 40+, but the comments and unexusable behavior were the same. One from kids the other from mature adults. But there is no way the actions of the young men on the field were the same. The Brenham fan made very detailed comments of the unsportsman like behavior of the LC players both during the game and after the win. There was even an instance after the series was over that the same out of control dads were ranting and raving directly in front of the Brenham side, on the field side by side with the players, to the point that a Brenham police officer had a confrontation with a parent on the field about his behavior and was met by the head coach who also made a scene and almost had to be escorted off the field for his actions to the police officer, the whole time the AD of the district was standing side by side and never intervened. Talk about institutional control, this all on the field in front of the dejected Brenham players. Now, I wasn't there but I know the source and they are very much in the know about proper behavior at sporting events. So make your own judgements about the facts.
  2. I want to repeat one word........ "COMMITMENT"..... does that have a different meaning today than I was taught to believe and practice years ago???? I do believe there is life outside of sports but I teach my kids that when they commit to doing something than they do it 100 % or do not do it at all!!! I respect your thoughts but I will just agree to differ. There is no way anyone on here can justify leaving a TEAM for a week to satisfy a personal vacation without mistaken priorities. This from an outsider with no interest either way! I believe that if this was forseen others should have been prepared to step up but the fact of the matter is if they were as good they probably would have had more chances to play more earlier in the saeson. Team chemistry is everything and it is lost when parts as big as this are removed from the puzzle, no matter who the back ups are!!!
  3. The head coach was offered the freshman job??? No way!!! If they don't want the person back as head coach they surely wouldn't offer the person a job inside the same basketball program? So there is a contract just not head coach? Are they coming back under those circumstances? Sounds to me they want the person gone without firing them and it would be wise to move on with this demotion?? Anyone no if this is true or not?? I will have to make some calls to get the answers to this one!
  4. I agree with all on here talking about roles for every player and team chemistry. The fact of the matter still remains the ace of the staff, the pitcher that was undefeated thus far in district (and one of the top hitters) along with a senior starter and good hitter, were not at this game or with this team for the first time this district season, by their choice. Did it mean a 9 run difference? We will never know. But remember these two missing means two others have to fill their position and then two girls have to play those two positions, etc.,etc.,. Did it affect the final outcome of this game, no one knows for sure we will never know, but I can say with confidence, it affected the game greatly, and it affected the team chemistry of the HF team. And you probably wouldn't doubt this fact had you seen this team the last 3 district games when they beat WOS, HJ, and SILSBEE. A pitcher in softball can make all the difference in the world, especially a quality one as the Sain girl. I feel many of those plays that were thrown all over the field would have been cut in half due to them being K's from Sain instead of hit balls requiring plays. Congratulations to OF, they won, but lets be realistic. Keep your head up HF if you can survive this bump in the road you will be a better team when it is over. Good luck the rest of the way and keep fighting,
  5. This shows the importance of having all players, expecially the importance of the Sain sisters who aren't there this week due to A SKIING TRIP!! WOW, go from leading the district to third place in one week. I have never heard of anything like this before, I hope the Horns can recover from this. Nothing against the girls that are there playing hard put this is really ashamed and so disappointing for the Team. Good Luck.
  6. Im even more certain it won't be BC in top 3?
  7. Ambitious? I don't know? I do know the only way to be one of the best is to play the best. Playing dogs all year prepares you for only beating dogs not being a playoff team. I believe Mangan is sending a message that the Horns will be ready and able to play with anyone next year. I am excited when does the football season get here. GO HORNS!!
  8. I really can understand the lack of respect for HF this time last year, But to leave them off any top 3 in this district next year is just flat out criminal. The Horns beat Silsbee this year by 21. And I have heard of eternal optimism by fans but BC going from 0-10, giving up over 60 points a game in district this past year to a playoff team next is really asking alot, don't you think. To answer your question, HF has 18 returning letterman, and 6/8 (O/D) starters back from last year, and a 9-1 JV record. So this may help some make their predictions based on facts. Anyway I see it as a battle between WOS and HF for the crown with Silsbee and OF battling for the last playoff spot.
  9. Really an inspiring story, truely, but all you coaches out there, how many UIL rule violations do you read in the article during his time as a Katy football player??
  10. I hope your right but I doubt if Huffman gets sent this way. I think they go with 22AAA. KV was either 428, or 422, but the last realignment the cut off was like 415 or 416 and that number has risen 10 or more every realignment so like I said don't be surprised if they drop. Anahuac and the other 2A aren't moving up from what I have heard so that seems to be the only possibility for change in 21AAA.
  11. 21 AAA will be changing this is a fact!!!! Because Kirbyville (428)is dropping to 2A. Now what that does who knows but I cant see them going to 7 team district, so my prediction is Jasper departs. Huffman (908) is definitely coming back down to 3A, not sure that effects 21AAA. And HF (568)is definitely not changing classifications. So 21AAA will change somehow!
  12. To some extent this is true because if the district does not change you still a the three playoff teams coming back strong, but HF has alot of talent returning and if they make the same improvements this coming year as they did this past year under the new coach they will be in the playoffs with or without district changing much. Besides Kirbyvill should be going down with 428 turned in that means something has to change in 21-AAA, hopefully that means Jasper goes back up north with them.
  13. Are you kidding. I know many teams that wish they had LESS like he does???? Hahahahaha. Coach Alvarez is a good coach but , he by no means has less talent than those he plays!!! Rhodes, Jackson????? Yeah, they are average??? hahahaha
  14. These numbers really are impressive but what is even more astonishing is there is someone out there keeping junior high stats??? C'mon give me a break, 7th grader stats quoted??
  15. Yeah OF did beat us. 17-14 and deserved to win, but its funny KV STRUGGLED to win at home against the Bobcats 49-42??? So I guess you guys dominated and that makes you guys a powerhouse huh??? Silsbee 28-29 us versus Silsbee us 35-14?? You should just feel lucky KV played Jasper real early on the schedule!!!!
  16. I agree because ALL TEAMS WILL LOSE IN THE FIRST ROUND so whoever plays last will go the longest.
  17. Silsbee wins by 37-21 over Jasper, Longhorns upset Kirbyville, and the stage turns to The Waffle House for the Flip!!!!! LONGHORNS SHOCK THE WORLD AND PLAY THE INDIANS in the first round of the playoffs. WOW what a headlines!!!!!
  18. Good article but people keep throwing around 17 points. The district point maximum is 16 points. Not that it matters but...... If your going to print a story you should at least check you facts in order to give credibility to your story. Good luck Silsbee win by 16 points if your going to win at all becuase the HORNS will beat Kirbyville so a win will not get the Dawgs in. It is a small thread but we still hold on to it here in HF. Kirbyville will be looking at the playoffs and that will be a mistake.
  19. "Facts: BC is the worst 3A team in the state. 22-3A is one of the worst districts in the state HF beat the top two teams in 22-3A last year HF is not in 22-3A Go eat your candy and nuts" Exactly my point. But my remarks were to the person that said HF would lose in the first round if they made playoffs. But your point is taken as reinforcing mine. I appreciate your helping my cause!!!! Would you like some of my candy and nuts?
  20. Southern thunder, I mean this with no disrespect but honestly you should go to the sources for your information rather than speculation. I am positive the point maximum for any one game in this district is 16, and I am positive the next tie breaker if positive and negative points are tied IT WILL BE DECIDED BY A COIN TOSS. It has been read and quoted out of the 21-AAA Manual (2006-07). So good luck to Silsbee and win by 16+ just to be sure because our Horns are going to try and take care of their part and just beat KV.
  21. no im not sure about the next step after point differential on teams tied but with a 16 point maximum im sure that will be tied as well. I am only going by what I have heard from HF coaches last night after the news of the KV comeback win. I do know all other info is very accurate and HF is still playing for a shot but Silsbee has to help them or if HF losses to KV then Silsbee only has to win.
  22. Let me set it straight HF is not out of this. HF beats KV they are 4-3. If Silsbee beats Jasper both are 4-3. Then points take over and the maximum is 16 in this district. HF is already at 0 (+21 over Silsbee, -17 vs. Jasper). Jasper is +16 (36-19 over HF), Silsbee is -16(lost to HF 35-14), therefore if HF beats KV, Silsbee's only shot at playoffs is a 16 point+ win and a coin toss. If they don't win by 16+ then Jasper is the third playoff team. If HF losses to KV then whoever wins the game between Silsbee and Jasper is the third team because HF would not be in the mix and therefore head to head takes over in a two team tie. So Silsbee doesn't have to win by 16 to make it unless HF beats KV. JUST TO SET RECORD STRAIGHT!!!!! HF STILL HAS A SHOT!!! GO TIGERS and then someone give my Horns a loaded coin!!!!!
  23. You know if you are as big of a fan as you say you would know that BC has put up 21+ in many games this year including KV last week with 25 and KV is 8-1 and is in playoffs. Is KV going to lose in 1st round too?? Come on you can do better than that. The game last night could have been MUCH MUCH WORSE than 63-21 if HF had wanted to and HF coaches hadn't called off the dogs. Heck HF fumbled on the 1 yard line with 5:00 minutes to go or it would have been 70 and there was all subs on both sides of the ball for the entire 4th quarter. And HF has already beaten 2 of the 3 playoff teams coming out of 22-3A in Cleveland (scrimmage) and Splendora (28-6) in week one. So I don't give alot of credibility to your statement about losing in first round. HF is a playoff team in most districts in the state and would be DIstrict Champs in 22-3A if ands buts were candy and nuts. Give credit where credit is due. HF may be a year away.
  24. Bulldog you are right on all accounts except that HF is not out of it. If Silsbee beats Jasper by 16+ and HF beats Kirbyville then all three (Jasper, Silsbee, and HF) will be tied at 4-3 in district and all three will be tied on points with 0, And a coin toss would decide he final playoff spot. HF is +21 (35-14 on SIlsbee), and -17 on Jasper(19-36) but district has 16 point maximum so only way Silsbee can make playoffs is HF losses to Kirbyville then Silsbee beats Jasper Silsbee would be in on head to head because HF would not be in the tie. But if HF beats KV then Silsbee can only hope for a coin toss if they can possibly beat Jasper by 16+. We in HF sure hope they can and are rooting for the Tigers in that one.
