What in the world makes you say that? That team ended w/ a 27-5 record? That team lost by a combined 6 runs the entire year. Jasper lost in the regional semifinal, the team that beat them (LCM) lost the next round (Robinson) which, in turn, lost their 1st game in the state tournament. So, not only was it a very impressive year by Jasper, they had a long way to go to win the state championship. You could, maybe, make an argument that they should have gotten past LCM, but thats about it. Saying coaching was the reason is ignorant. Team was 27-5 and competitive in every game they played.

No doubt. Hope they prove me wrong, I just don't see it. Robinson is the real deal.

The score was 2-0. Essentially won on a squeeze. Hits were even, errorless, clean game for both teams. Orangefield sure wasn't playing like they knew they were going to lose.

I think it shows the strength of 22-4A. Orangefield isnt exactly a pushover or your typical #4 seed.

Respectfully disagree. Lufkin Hudson (the district champs) were by far the best team in that district. Three, could even say four, quality arms. Couple D-1 guys. Team was very good. Not saying, by any means, Jasper isn't good, but I don't think they were near the caliber as LH.

LCM had a good showing beating Vidor 10-8 in their first scrimmage. Does anyone happen to have the box score?

Just a sad/embarrassing situation for both schools. I'd be highly surprised if multiple players from both schools weren't suspended for the duration of the season.

Pretty absurd statement there. Jasper played Hardin Jefferson, Bridge City, Silsbee, Kelly, Vidor, Kirbyville all in non-district play. Maybe that isn't quite as dangerous as the teams in the Jasper tournament this year but those teams mentioned are most definitely "quality" opponents.

Sounds like LCM shot themselves in the foot.
