  1. Jasper and Kirbyville are talking state runs. WOS is starting over. What about BC, Silsbee, Orangefield and others.?
  2. How in the world will they hire a Baseball coach by next thursday, the last day most can get out of their contracts?
  3. If WOS gets Craig Jones, within 2 years everyone in that district will regret it. He is that good. Hard nosed, but good.
  4. If you know any board members at KISD then you know that the superintendant was made aware that all sports should be supported. We all had our ideas as to who we thought would be the best pick. We however did not hear the answers to pertinant questions. With the superintendant having a son who will be a senior on the team and knowing that all sports count, I have to think the superintendant would certainly have chosen the best fit he possibly could. There is no way he would chose less than the best overall fit for his own son, a college prospect in football and a basball player. So let the work begin. With us loosing several football coaches, I hope we can keep a great football coach, I think 10 years a 4A DC and mabe the best baseball coach in the state, Craig Jones, on staff.
  5. Pinkard is highly thought of and has sons to add.
  6. My bad on Barbay, he did win 2 state titles in power lifting while in Kirbyville. My point is, good ones don't grow on trees. When you get a shot at one, take it. If it costs a little more, pay it. Or watch em make magic somewhere else.
  7. I hope we don't let money, within reason, stop us from hiring a top candidate. To my knowledge we have never hired an AD with AD experience and a winning program or history with a winning program. We have spent millions on facilities and infrastructure to improve the district. A few thousand to insure the community with a leader at the top of this department shouldn't be a problem. Only the superintendent will affect more students. To hire an experinced AD with experience with a top program that has seen what works will cost more that what we usually hire, that being a hopeful. We have had State record setters come through but we didn't keep em. Cornell Thompson's first job was Kirbyville. Craig Jones' first job was Kirbyville. Both hold State records for success. Jack Alverez and Brian Barbay won State titles after Kirbyville. You can't compare Neece's salary who was hired to his first AD job to someone who has experience and been with a top program.
  8. Yes, Feaster banned Saban and his recruiters. He said they made promisses they didn't keep. Took some guts and got him let go. I doubt Saban had a trip planned to Kville anyway. Strickland is also a winner. I believe the options are better than I thought they might be in the beginning. I think there is an applicant with ties to Alvarez also and that probably carries some weight.
  9. From all I can dig, gather and interpolate, that card may have been played early and not pan out. Even though we love Kirbyville and thinks a great place to raise kids, not everybody gets it. And I don't think our pay scale turns many heads either. That will probably be a problem with a guy like Feaster mentioned on this thread, money. He probably would never apply had he not been let go for having gonads at Parkway.
  10. I think the Superintendent is gonna bring one name. Neece left late for an AD position to be filled and for coaches to be replaced. Whether we would choose the same name or not, we know that he can go through the process much faster than a committee. We should have staked out the place so we could be sure who the top guys are. There were some good coaches with AD experience and winning histories on the list, just not a bunch of them. One could get pretty close to the finalists with some research.
  11. RoadRunner, where did your kids play for Coach Jones? Two of mine played for him also and I believe him to be the best in the State. But what I hear is that the Superintendent that is leaving Jasper did not support his hiring so the guy that holds the record for the most consequtive state tournament appearances and 9 trips to Austin in 17 years will not be the coach in Jasper. This is the second person in 3 years that has won a state title that has been turned away by this superintendent.
  12. I guess Kirbyville will benefit from some more Jasper transfers. I know I wouldn't want my kid playing baseball there. They have other agendas than the best they can do fro the baseball program.
  13. There is a pretty good rumor that Mixon will go to SFA next year.
  14. If Jasper gets who I think they will, they are in for a ride. He is old school hard core and a big winner.
