  1. Nothing from the GCM peeps? What about RSS fans? All I heard on social media all day yesterday was how GCM would destroy RSS.
  2. It was 26-24 but man what a game! If you missed it RSS was down 20-0 in the fourth quarter. They came all the way back and were leading 24-23 and summer creek won on a last second field goal that was nearly blocked. these Rangers play with so much heart. It's fun to watch. Next week they should bounce back vs GCM. Go Rangers
  3. GCM Turnovers and Bad decisions on special teams doomed any chance they had. Kickoff returner kept bringing the ball out of the end zone and didn't get past the 15 yard line. GCM turned it over three times inside their own 30 and the punter kept kicking 14 yard punts. King wood was able to score three touchdowns by only going 45 yards. Hard to win ball games when you don't get good field position and lose the turnover battle. GCM wont win another game this year.
  4. GCM did not look good, had a tough time stopping anything. GCM offense was just as bad had a hard time of running base plays. Hard to tell if Hardin Jefferson was that much better or if GCM is that bad. Maybe both?
  5. from what i can find at Wharton he ran a 3-4 defense, on offense they were spread lots of 3x1 and 2x2 basic spread doesn't mean that is what he will do here though.
  6. from the baytown sun The Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District approved the hiring of Tim Finn as the next coach of the Baytown Lee Gander football program and campus athletic coordinator. Finn has served as the head coach of Wharton since 2012 and developed the program into a consistent playoff program. When he took the job, the Tigers were on a five-year losing streak. Last season, he guided the 4A program to an 8-5 record and a playoff run three games deep. Prior to taking the Wharton job, Finn had coached at Texas City for 21 years including 10 at a head coach and athletic director. In his head-coaching career at Wharton and Texas City, Finn has posted a 106-69 record
  7. has hired Tim Finn of Wharton as new head football coach of the Ganders
  8. paying a head coach 98,000 or more tends to get people interested. even if it means going 1-29 everyone has their price.
  9. Anyone who wants to win a state championship would take the job. they would just think that it would never happen to them because that new board would have hired him.
  10. I would like to clarify my remarks that I made to The Baytown Sun concerning not hiring Coach Riley after my resignation. Coach Riley served the district for 17 years as a coach, teacher, and member of the community. His wife was a teacher in GCCISD and remains as such to this day. Coach Riley’s kids both graduated from Baytown Lee. He understood the dynamics of Baytown but more importantly, he understood Baytown Lee — the parents, the kids, the faculty, and the Baytown Lee culture. We had a good staff that functioned well together and was instrumental in any of the successes at Baytown Lee. We had developed a competitive program that saw a high of over 300 participants and a great deal of success during our years. With the addition of GCM, our numbers declined, as was expected. We competed but not at the level once attained. I referred to the decision to build a third high school as “death by design.” Had the board wanted to do what was best for the city, they would have accepted the One Plus proposal and combined Baytown Lee, Baytown Sterling as 9-10, 11-12 campuses. This was the recommendation of a panel of educators and community members that came after studying educational issues in Baytown for one calendar year. The board listened intently and then tabled One Plus.
  11. offensively that can work if you have a solid D, lee's problem when they tried to do that was the teams in their district put up a lot of points and Lee is not going to win shootouts. Most of their best players played both ways and injury to one player could hurt offense and defense.
  12. they have been saying they will redraw the lines for 3 years now and nothing has changed.. even if you redraw the lines it doesn't help Lee immediately that would take a couple years. Whoever gets this has a long struggle ahead of them.
  13. Baytown Sterling tied Brownsville Hanna 1-1
  14. I sure can the last RSS team to make playoffs was 2008 when they lost to Pearland 15-39. The last RSS playoff win was against Galveston Ball 17-7 in 1985 and then lost the next round vs West Orange Stark in overtime.
  15. Obviously I'm saying we are best in Baytown in football as this is the football thread??? While we have historically struggled as a program we have started to turn it around. Our kids are competing and believe in themselves. They work hard and deserve all of the praise they can get. Yes they gave up 79 points to a dang good team (in case you haven't heard Atascocita is a top ranked team in the state) But historically that loss would have ended the rangers season. The kids would have quit. These kids focused and worked hard and came out and beat a kingwood team by 13 when they were predicted to lose by as much as 15. GCM will be good eventually all the plants and the new rubber factory coming to Baytown will add many more jobs to baytown and with it will bring more families and hopefully more athletes. But as of today Sterling has never lost to GCM. In regards to Lee I think Coach Wilk does a amazing job with the talent they have. They just don't have the numbers and will eventually drop down to 4 a and be very competitive. Lastly you realize that by putting down baytown football your putting your own team down also right? I'd still rather be best in Baytown than worse in Baytown.
  16. okay I guess I just always see you saying how good GCM is and never giving love to Sterling, but its okay we got plenty of room on the Bandwagon. Everyone hop on!!! #BestinBaytown, #makehistory
  17. GCM pats don't say us your screen name is GCM pats not Sterling.
