  6. kogt San Jac defeated Galveston College Sunday 15-5 as former Bridge City hurler Kevin Angelle got the win to improve to 3-0 on the season. San Jac also remains in first place in their division.

THSCA ANNOUNCES 2007 FOOTBALL ALL-STARS The Texas High School Coaches Association proudly announces the rosters of the THSCA Football All Stars who will be competing in the annual All-Star game in conjunction with the THSCA Coaching School in Fort Worth, July 29-August 1, 2007. The football game will be played on July 31 at the Amon Carter Stadium on the TCU Campus. Game time is slated for 7:30 pm. The South team will be coached by Weldon Nelms of Wimberley High School, and the North will be coached by Kent Jackson of Sweetwater High School. Rick Barnes gets $200,000 raise from Texas By JOSEPH DUARTE Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle TOOLS Email Get section feed Print Subscribe NOW Texas men’s basketball coach Rick Barnes received a $200,000 pay raise today, less than two weeks after turning down overtures from Kentucky, that pushes his annual salary to $2 million. The University of Texas System Board of Regents approved the increase, which keeps him among the highest-paid coaches in college basketball. The deal also adds two years to Barnes’ contract, which runs through 2017. v Barnes has led the Longhorns to the NCAA Tournament in each of his nine seasons, including the Sweet 16 in four of the last six years. The Longhorns advanced to the Final Four in 2003. In past seasons, Barnes has been linked to vacancies with North Carolina State, UCLA, Indiana and Kentucky. He received a $500,000 raise after Texas’ run to the Elite Eight in 2006.

  19. Texas basketball set dates for nonconference games Longhorn basketball coach Rick Barnes has firmed up some dates for non-conference games next season. Texas is a regional host school in the inaugural Legends Classic on Nov. 16 and 18, the teams to be determined. The semifinals and finals will be Nov. 23 and 24 in Newark, N.J. Other nonconference dates: Dec. 2: at UCLA Dec. 8: Rice, at the Toyota Center, Houston Dec. 19: at Arkansas Dec. 22 : Michigan State, the Palace, Auburn Hills, Mich. Dec. 29: Wisconsin, Erwin Center Jan. 2: Texas Christian, Erwin Center Barnes hopes to face LSU every year in Houston, but the Tigers were not available next season. UCLA and Arkansas will play in Austin during the 2008-09 season.
