1. Vidor JV beat Memorial 18-0. Now 4-1-1. Play Baytown and West Brook, their only loss, tomorrow. These guys are playing pretty good.

He and a couple of other freshmen could have helped HF's team, but instead of embracing and aceepting them, they would rather discredit and alienate any player who may take away from their playing time. This is the nature of HF boys athletics and that is why they continue to struggle year after year and the good athletes go to other schools.
Ky is the ONLY freshman that would have made the Longhorn Varsity this year if he would have stayed.  Right now they are playing pretty well, and getting the basketball kids will only help them.  We all know how Ky is doing at PNG but have yet to hear about these other "good" athletes...how is Cam doing at Vidor, what team is he on?
I heard Cam quit.....walked right off the field during practice and quit
4. Congrats Britnee! Coach Terry is a great guy. You will love it. Have fun and kick some tail.
 5. Congratulations Laura. So proud and happy for you. Enjoy your time and keep working hard.
 6. Good job Lindsey. I am extremely proud for you and of you. You are a very talented and gifted ball player and UT is very lucky. Remember, the cage is always open and the Williams family will be pulling for you. Congrats!
 7. Way to go Brit. Extremely, extremely proud for you. Not only are they getting a great ball player, but a great kid as well. Have fun and kick some butt.
 8. Way to go kid. I know how hard you have worked for this. Very well deserved. You will be great.
Thats a dang good idea!!! I believe a former HF BB coach from the early 2000's got his administration certification.
But, does this former coach have a winning track record?
Yes.  He definitely has a winning track record...probably the best BB coach in HF history.  He took them further in the playoffs than any team ever advanced.  When he left HF, he took his new school to state 2 or 3 years.  He is now the head coach at a Houston area 4A school.
Well now, if he is at a Houston 4A, why would he go to a middle of the road 3A? (enrollment, money)
I don't think he is interested in the job. He does, however, have a call in to the current superintendent with a recommendation for the future coach.
 10. Damien Bates - Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Goose Creek Memorial. He coached under former HF basketball coach Jeff Keener. He is a good x's and o's guy who is a take charge kind of guy. Parents might not like it, because they won't have input which can be a problem at HF. He is very organized and regimented. He is also strong on discipline. He has the fire that HF needs.

 13.
Little Dribblers? Come on... ::)
I believe her point is that there is talent in HF area which shows up at the junior high ages. However, when these kids get to high school the results seem to be vastly different. Now I will grant you that kids' talents change as they grow older. Now, how do you explain that the talent at every other school leap frogs the kids at HF. The problem isn't that HF has trouble making the playoffs, they have trouble even winning a game. This isn't just a basketball problem. Now I read on this board that you can't judge a school by what the do in middle school. But how do you explain every basketball player that comes through HF getting leap frogged in talent by every player at every school. This is why parents who have kids with athletic talent often look to move their kids before they get to high school. It is mind boggling.
 14. Congrats to Kyle and his parents. Wharton got a steal. Great kid with great skills, attitude and work ethic. Good job my man.
 15. It may just be me, but it seems to come across a lot better when someone other than his parent comes on here tooting his horn. I think it carries a lot more merit if you let someone else praise your kid.
 16. Have to agree with Dove. Bosha had a nice game, but don't grandize it. Most of his points were in mop up time. Gustafson and Prudhomme are the ones that killed us and Southerland is like a coach on the floor. Bosha made his line look good at the end, but he was HJ's 3rd or 4th best player last night. He is going to be a good one, but it's not his team yet.
 17. No reaso is not right. Ref blew his whistle and all the HF players stopped, then HJ scored. It was the right call. Refs have done such a bad job that this game is getting very physical.
 18. The little short bald ref has no business owning a whistle.
 19.
Who in their right mind would follow HF all season. Most parents who have kids that play for HF don't keep up with them. When is the last time they had a article in the paper or a news segment about HF. Aggie is from a winning school and he follows them. HF will be a winner in some sport here soon. Maybe not this year or next year but soon. Keep that hope alive with moral victories vs Silsbee. When they beat yall by 80 next game don't say I told you so.
Here are two in the last week and a half: [Hidden Content] The first one also appeared on all three news stations. I don't know about now but their little dribblers program was strong. They always put solid teams on the floor. But when they get to High School they seem to underachieve. I don't understand. Not knocking Bridge City, have seen them play. Their inside game is much improved but they still lack the fundamentals needed to go to that next level. I thought that maybe club volleyball was hurting their basketball program but I was told not many players on the basketball team are playing club volleyball. That is why I cannot firgure them out. In the past IMO it was club Volleyball.
Same with boys. Strong in middle school.
I don't think it is coaches, I think kids lose interest. The girls have been losing numbers for the last 10 years that I know of.  Most of the classes at Orangefield have 1 maybe 2 seniors on the team. In 2007 we had 7 seniors, that is a rarity. Again I have a opinion but still don't understand. Back when I played we had some good athlete's that quit but there was enough to fill the void. Now it seems there is not enough.
Good point. Kids probably sign up for X-Box tournaments or stay home on FaceBook ;) That is good Dove. I am on facebook as we speak. LOL!!!!!!  Don't forget about the Wii.

This team is very different from the little dribblers group that was successful. This group is different from the group that won in junior high. This is definitely a guard dominated team, but Guilhaus, Crawford and the freshman don't have much help. It is not from a lack of effort, but something just seems to be missing. This team is a good example of players that could definitely help dropping out of the program. They need to be more agressive and attack the basket. Way too passive and too many jump shots.
 21.
Just curious but whenever HF tends to run more, they seem to play better IMHO. I mean, the tempo up and when the fast break wasn't there, they ran their sets and looked inside for the bigs, or hit the open shots, IMHO. Or did someone else see it differently?
The reason is because we are tall and not big. Everyone keeps talking about our bigs. We don't have bigs, but our varsity is blessed with tall slender built players. We have a 6'2" and a 6'5" that are both under 200 lbs. These kids are not built for banging. We have 2 6'5"s that are not bangers. They play away from contact. A lot of people suggest that we slow the tempo and use our size, but this plays away from their strengths. Our talls shoot jump hooks and fade aways. Our talls are built for running, not banging.
