you have to look at the other teams in the state that are usually strong and see what they have lost. a lot of the normally strong teams have lost a lot of good players. Newton's line will be sophmores, the line will be better and as the year goes on they will get even stronger. The skill players are back, the defense will be stronger. 2a ball depends on a little luck with injuries because they do not have the dept of larger class teams. when u have winning programs such as Newton, WO-S, etc.. then a lot of the teams or people like Bunaboy become jealous. I can sure understand why Bunaboy is upset, looking back on the scores of the playoff games Newton had with them. A couple of years in the 3A district you will be disliking WO-S also.
ouch!
Titans had respect last year, from coaches to players. I believe what most question is was it a one year wonder (due to the 13 seniors going on to the next level). Like sfa85 says a 4th place finish is more than likely whats to be expected next year, and that's not good enough to get respect. Simply to much talent not to be making runs like that almost every year. Quit the no one will play us bullzhit, there are plenty of teams mem has declined to play as well. Bottom line quite begging for respect just keep earing it. Now 13 next levels players helps, but but what happens when u dont have (2 Baylor, 1 ark, and 1 ok st )???
you mean 2 hit wonder? they went deep the year before. -

I will be interested to see the talent on this year team and the incoming years at LP. I think the most talented team was the 93 team with Chris Anderson (Colorado), Teddy (TTech), Simpson (UH), and Scott(Arizona). Gee if the upcoming teams that talented it will be a uphill battle for PAM.
was that the team that beat TJ 49-0 but lost to Aldine MacArthur (Odell James) in the Astrodome in the playoffs?
They beat a 8-2 TJ team that year 37-0. TJ lost to MacArthur 21-7 in the playoff. MacArthur only made the playoffs cause one of the other teams had a eligible student. Yes, They went on to beat LP 30-0 and played for the state title that year. They lost to the Lewisville Farmers late in the game.
Still makes me mad that TJ couldnt stop Garner (generals RB) coulda been a rematch that year.

Seeing how they have been terrible for years in basketball and have only recently had success under Coach English, I guess they will be in the same boat as Vidor football! I know you will get on here and say that its not the same thing...blah..blah...blah! The truth about it is guys like you get on here and bash other schools, namely Vidor because it makes you somehow feel better about yourself. You cant stand Vidor getting a little credit, so what do you do?... you bash them. Everybody in the area knows that Vidor has not had the best football tradition, just like Nederland does not have the best basketball tradition, but I bet you anything Coach Mathews and Coach English have heard plenty from guys like you, im just glad they are smart enough to not listen. ;) ;) ;)

by past recent history they should be top 10.

ALL DAY) link=topic=101232.msg1239977#msg1239977 date=1343273425] The crazy yet funny thing is, that no matter what happens (lets say PAM went to and won state in 2011) most people on this board would have that "YEAH, BUT" symdrome. SOME of you all (and you ALL know who you are) just do NOT want see PAM succeed. You would rather say "PAM went 13-2 last season BUT oh don't u remember when there was that fight/mugging after the WB game?" The hatred of the city of Port Arthur and PAM is ever evident in 75% of you're posts (even some Admins/Moderators) fail to mention or even KNOW that PAM was was STACKED with JUNIORS last season. Most (even Mods/Admins) don't know that the PAM Secondary that got them DEEP into the P.O.'s are ALL back this season, and only one of them were starters in the beginning of the season.so with that being said....keep waiting for PAM to fail and you're going to be in for a VERY long 2012 season.....THAT IS ALL!!!
I've tried to explain some of that to people. Some people dont like to see or hear the truth. Oh well, Titans will have to show em yet again for a 3rd str8 year. notice every year they have gotten better since Harrison has been there. Numbers dont lie.
BG I've also noticed how when a true PAM fan backs up a statement with facts and stats they get get on "HUSH-MOUTH" and keep it moving.
I've noticed that alot. ;)
Well here are some facts. Pretty much everything that is said by Ghost I pretty much agreed with and noted in the preview. They were young on defense and have 7 starters by Coach Harrison's count coming back. Then I read this: "Most (even Mods/Admins) don't know that the PAM Secondary that got them DEEP into the P.O.'s are ALL back this season." The Titans got into the playoffs DESPITE the play of their secondary in the playoffs. They gave up 326 yards and 4 passing TDs to South Houston in their bi-district game and then another 311 yards and 3 passing TDs in their narrow area victory over Clear Springs. Yes, they then gave up only 68 to Memorial, 54 to La Porte, who are both running teams who ran the ball in those 2 games 39 and 40 times respectively. And against Steele they only gave up 109 passing yards, but when you run for over 400 yards, you don't need to pass too much. As to everyone from the secondary returning, I think you are forgetting about Jaylon Howard, who graduated last year. Some folks around here think he was decent.
True, passing teams in which the DC had them (secondary) playing prevent (for reasons i will never understand) they did the same thing in the Channelview game. -

Romar at DE-Kansas commit Barnes CB-multiple D-1 offers cockrell lemora etc.. if ricky plays good they can make another run! He has weapons in the Leday brothers james jenkins and rucker and albert jacobs, there running game will be solid they'll be good without holmes he was scared of contact to me..
IMO Lott should be the QB but Fisk is the better passer though. John and Brandon not kin btw. Our secondary might be the best in the Greater Houston Area IMO, so much depth at that position. Were ok at the RB position with the sophomore running the rock, the Freshman will get alot of touches at that position as well as kick returns, wouldnt be surprise if we see him get some snaps out the wildcat formation. Alot of people are going to be surprised.
I think I would take Brenham's secondary duo of Dorrian Johnson and Justin Davis over PAM's. Davis is a D1 recruit, and Johnson is probably the best shut-down CB in the state, despite the the fact that he's a junior. Also, Ozen's secondary isn't too bad either. @ palincoln4life- I'm not sure about the playing Brenham thing. We had Foster and Bay City scheduled, but Bay City bailed. We were looking for a game but couldn't find one, so we ended up having to schedule Katy Pope John.
Thats only 2 people Brenhamfan. Not talking duo, im talking total secondary. people forget we lost 2 starters that are back this year. we have 3 DBs that are for sure going D1 after this year. I believe the other 2 are only 11th graders. as for scheduling Brenham i didnt hear that, but i did hear we got in touch with Cy-Falls and i do believe another Cypress school (maybe cy-fair?) and that fell thru. kinda hard to schedule tougher competition when they say no to you, just saying. As far as shutdown corners i'd put Tony Brown of Ozen up there as the best in 4A, i dont see anybody throwing to his side alot unless its Memorial doing it (as we did last year). -
