  1. Probably all the big names. I heard that last year as a Soph he had already established Div I credentials.
  2. It is a reversal for sure. Always in the past it was coaches leaving Jasper for bigger schools. To have a coach move from 5a down to 3a is simply mind blowing. For one thing, I think it is complimentary of the talent level in Jasper. I hope he finds great success in Jasper, and finishes out his career in Jasper. I think without a doubt he will bring new enthusiasm to Jasper. Maybe he will set up his "recruiting" desk out in the hall like he did at TJT and get some of those players back who might have played, but didn't. I just believe that Jasper still has better numbers than we have been seeing on the football field.
  3. didn't want to give my boys the big head.
  4. dern. blew that pick, Jasper 1-0.
  5. you mean Barbay is moving over from Newton??? ;D
  6. Homer pick. Jasper 1, KV 0.
  7. Taylor Hart, Jasper. About 35 or so stolen bases last year as a Soph. Not thrown out a single time.
  8. Congrats Silsbee on the win. Now next time in Jasper ........ ;D
  9. You have said a mouthful. I live at a distance so have no idea what has been happening at Jasper. But, in 4a, with just a few more athletes, Jasper for years seemed to have enough athletes to compete at 4a, and even against the strong 5a teams they played. Suddenly, there seems to be a problem with "numbers". I think part of the answer lies in some (maybe several) athletes opting to play only basketball, and or baseball. Why these players opted to not play football is unknown to me. They probably had good reasons. But, to excel in sports, we need those players to play all the sports. Maybe a new administration can get some of those players back out to play football as well as the other sports. Oh for the days when Jasper had athletes like Reggie Davis who played on the FB team which lost to Willowridge (Thurman Thomas) in the playoffs, played basketball, ran track on a state championship team, and just a month or so later was back in Austin playing on a Jasper state tournament baseball team. As for the Jasper/Silsbee game last year, I think the youngsters finally just ran out of steam. I saw them play a pretty good 4a Livingston team early in the year and actually I thought they looked pretty good then. Given a decent chance, they should be back strong this year.
  10. it will be another big surprise! surely not going local, or they would have announced it weeks ago.
  11. That's good. Jasper appears to be VERY deep in pitching this year!
  12. because of your comments!!! Are you REALLY from Jasper? Your comments sound more like you are from somewhere else and just want to cause Jasper some grief. Folks, please don't think everyone in Jasper is so cocky.
  13. unless jasper loses... : ;D need to play the games first, then talk.

  18. When did he start coaching at Jasper? 2002 ?? 03 04 05 06, 101 is a lot of victories for 4 years, plus a few this year. Could be though. Jasper plays a lot of tournament ball.
