If Anahuac can limit their mistakes it will be a close game. At this last scrimmage there were times that they looked great, did what they wanted on both sides of the ball and then there were times I don't think they could stop the freshman team.. With that said, I think H-J will win by 7-10 points, it could be closer. Anahuac is getting better each week and should be ready by the time district games start. I can tell you H-J isn't taking Anahuac lightly, Martel and his staff were at the game friday night!!

Hornet Hive, how did yall do against Trinity??

Coach is doing a great job so far.. He has the team playing together and there is not quit in them.. He is doing a great job with the discipline. It is nothing like it has been in the past. He doesn't allow the kids to cuss or disrespect the coaches. What I like with coach is he also expects his coaches to show respect to the kids and he doesn't allow the coaches to cuss in front of the kids.. As for being young, that is an understatement.. We have only six seniors and the rest of the team will be juniors or sophomores..

Deer Slayer, stuffed it down their throats?? come on man, not sure if that was a good way to describe the game, BUT what I did see was a team that didn't lay down when things weren't going their way. I know that the past teams would lay down when things weren't going their way and open up that can of quit!! That is a credit to coach and his staff. This is a new system and the team will get better as the year goes on.. Hang in there deer slayer, maybe the Bayton Sun will run an article so you can post it!! ;D

Liberty is going to surprise some people. I heard that they got a new OC that came from Barbers Hill... ;D

Blade, come on now.. Getting Mayes back isn't going to make Anahuac the district champs or even make the play-offs. He is only one player.

Hey Bucster, Stevieray is right, Mart & Tatum won it last year. Marlin lost to Tatum in a game in Lufkin.. Some how Newton lost to Marlin.. I really wanted to see Tatum go up against Newton..

Yes they were in the same district.. I am surprised West Hardin and East Chambers haven't given a guess yet!! The two teams I am talking about are San Augustine, EC lost to in the first round and Garrison, West Hardin lost to them in the first round..

It would be rated R for sure.. I feel for the ref's on his side of the field. They are going to get an ear full. I don't know how they put up with him on the side line, I guess they have thick skin...

DP has to be talking about travelingbands.. That statement about hoping there will be a day when all the Liberty county schools win their districts. I know there was this one time when all three Chamber county teams won there districts.. It was great!! ;D But on a serious note, I give one better than that.. Not so long ago there was two state champs that came out of the same district. One won the 2A Div I and the other Div II.

Come on now Bucster.. I know for sure one varsity starter did.. Not sure about the others, that why I asked.. Of course, the coach might have let him back on the team but as of yesterday afternoon he had quit..

Bucster, any truth to the rumor of 5 o-linemen on the varsity team that quit yesterday??

Well I think we should wait until 2-a-days are over.. The word on the streets is the heat is having an effect on the kids. Some kids are quitting some just not even showing up.. Hornet Hive, the rumor up there is yall have atleast six maybe more not even showing up for practice and out in EC land I heard that 5 kids on the O-line quit.. I don't know any of these statements to be fact.. I have friends all around and this is second hand information.. Take it as you will.. Now as for the predicitions, I think Anahuac finishing 5th or 6th is about right.. Barbay is a good coach but he has a long road to hold with these kids.. He is putting in a new system plus he is trying to change the mental make up of the kids.. Making them believing in themselves and that they can have success.. Trust me, this isn't going to change over night here in Anahuac... But with that said, if any one can do it, it will be coach Barbay...

Well I know for a fact that we are playing Hitchcock for sure in Deer Park. Not sure on which night but I will find out..

come on Bucfan, don't give into the hornet!! You were right with your first guess. But I would like to know if Hardin still has that kid that kicks 50 yd field goals.. If he is still around I might have to side with Hardin!! But I would like to know what Hardin brings to the table, besides coaches. Barbay brought some coaches with him so I guess that makes DaWac the better team for sure 8)

Bucster hahaha that is a good one.. Now as for the game, who knows. What ever team shows up to play. I think everyone knows that any one could be beat on a given night. Now a better question would be, which team will have a better season?? I know that the hardin fans are excited because of the 7 on 7 season. But that will be nothing like a real game. Now if any one knows who the Barbay's coach, it is a ball control, run the ball and pass only when you have to. As long as your offense is off the field you can not score point, unless there is a turnover of course!!

etbu, what ever happen to Moore?? I remember that dude for sure.. He would just run OVER people.. Didn't he go to SMU??

Hold on Panterfan, slow your roll.. District Champs next year.. man, I like the way your think and your view thru them panther colored glasses, but it just might take more than a year before we are District Champs.. haha Besides, we might not even be in 2A next year. Don't they recount every two years?? The freshman class this year has almost 200 kids alone.. That will make our numbers go up.. Just a thought.. But keep the positive post coming.. ;D

SteelerCzy, thanks for the kind words. But I think with the other post of, long season, it will take some time, it will be next year.. I think that is more like it. We averaged 13 points a game, well really 14 if bobcat would round up!! Any way our offense was bad and the defense was so bad they couldn't even find anything positive from last year to write about!! haha To say Coach Barbay has his work cut out for him would be an understatement!! Good Luck Coach, cuz you are going to need it... ;D
