1. I thinkl Cowboy1981 is coach Goerge Taylor,  APanthers I think you are right on point. This person sure knows a lot about his boy George. If he's not George, then he is a coach trying to save his job if George gets hired!! Besides I heard Birdwell was his right hand man. The reason George has done all the other stuff is not because he is such a great person. It because one, no body else wants to do it, two its call getting a STIPEND!!!! One thing you can say about Barbay, he took care of his coaches and helped them out when ever he could in many different ways.. Cowboy1981, have a little class about yourself and not call out kids who you feel were either hard to coach or not the "perfect football player", that's rude.. Every programs has that. How about you call out coaches that can't coach, the coaches that are only in Anahuac because they can't find another job else where. As for your John Madden reference, that's comparing apples to oranges, but I wouldn't expect anything less from a cowboy fan...
2. Cowboys1981, since you are so in tuned with George and know so much about the program, tell me why George wasn't given any more responsiblity than he had on the varsity level?? As for pissing people off to get results, what are the results you are talking about. I don't know of anything football related?? I hope the people that are making the decisions pick the best person they feel to do the job. I still stand behind my statement of, there are a several other coaches that have more experience and have coached at a higher level. They are more accomplished than the home town boy..  ;)
3.
Coach Taylor deserves the job, hes a great coach and is liked by every person in the athletic department as well as every player. And I know for a fact he's a great coach.
That's your opinion he deserves the job. Most of the other coaches that applied have more football coaching experience. Also not sure where you got he is liked by every person and player. That's not a true statement.
4. I would love to see David Martel in Anahuac. Talk about a great person and coach. I hated to see him leave when he did and, like a lot of people, wished it would have been his brother that left and him stay. Not sure how much of a chance there is for him to come back or if he even wants to come back.
5.
To be able to win in this district we need a proven Head Coach that knows how to win, just my opinion.
I agree...
6. With the rumors I hear it wont be anybody in house to replace Barbay..... For the record, they are just rumores..
7. There's a better chance of Broussard going to Jasper with Barbay than him becoming the HC in Anahuac. As for Taylor, can anyone tell me what his football coaching role has been the past couple years?? He wasn't in charge of the offense or defense.
8. Yes it was one sided from the 1st play that started with Hardin throwing an INT! We would have had 7 more points but the TE dropped one in the end zone on a 4th down play!! I don't expect much talk from the Hardin crowd. I do think the Villamez kid came back to soon. You could tell he wasn't 100%. But with that said, our all-state sophomore was on the side line with a boot on!!
9. I think Anahuac will be picked to win the district. We started three sophomores and a freshman on Defense and we only lose one or two on that side. The offense we will lose our work horse but #24 as a SOPHOMORE will step in and run for days. The Line started two sophomores and we have three more sophomores ready to take the place of the seniors. With another year of Barbay's off season program we will be stronger. As for coaching, the name Barbay says enough.. From going 2-8 to 8-2 a year later, look out.. The kids have bought into Barbays program and with the success this year that we badly needed, the kids believe in themselves.. 8)
10. There never has nor never will be another Earl Campbell!! For people who are to young and don't know who we are talking about. Go to you tube and search his name.
11. I guess some one should have told Earl Campbell you couldn't make a living running over people. I don't remember him making people miss, just running over them. Now don't get all excited, I in NO way mean the Stelly kid is another Earl. OK?? I am just pointing out you can be a good running back by just running over people and getting 5-7 yards a carry. I know that's what he did in the EC game and I know coaches love to have backs like that. Is the best back in this district, probably not but he is a good one.
12. Villemez didn't play much if any on defense in the EC game, just a FYI.. As for the Stelly kid, I am with the other guy, not sure why he would want to move east and west when he can run over people. That's what he did all night during the EC game and that Kid did play the whole game on Defense.. As for Villemez, he is good, I'll give him that but he isn't all world like some people say he is. I've even heard the rumor of his ride to LSU.. I can't see that for a minute.. What were his stats in the Anahuac game??
13. EC by as much as they like. They will try and beat Hardin worse than Anahuac did to send a message for next week's game..
14. The difference in this game will be that Curtis Barbay will not make the same mistake as Darrel did. Curtis will have Newton ready to add more points on HJ the second half!! Newton 55 HJ 7
15. 1. Kountz 2. East Chambers 3. Buna/Hardin/Anahuac Third spot is up for grabs!!
16. well it depends, if Anahuac plays like they did the first half against Hardin-Jefferson Anahuac will win big. If they play like they did the second half, Hardin will win big.. Anahuac doesn't know how to come from behind or believes they can come back and win a game. I am not sure if it is the youth on the team or what. Barbay has a lot of work a head of him.. Anahuac 21 Hardin 28
17. Yes this area was hit hard. I haven't heard of the damage east of Anahuac, does any one know?? I know for Anahuac the roof is off the gym and the band hall, we suffered the wind and rain damage like most of the places around here. What I've heard from the school is we will be out a month. I think that is worse case but not sure. As for people standing or sitting in the place where their house was, is what it is like in Oak Island. For those who know that area let me try to put into words. If you go past the boat ramp, like you are heading to the channel marker or Hammerheads, you can see the bay from that point! All them house in that area are just gone. The only thing standing in that area is the Oak Island Lodge and his house, the top floor of the channel marker and parts of Hammerhead's. There are houses that have floated across roads, boats and cars have floated to ditches. It is bad down there, it is hard to describe the damage with words. Do not try to go down there right now because state troopers will run you out of there and/or take you to jail. It is hard for the people that own property down there to get in.
18. I've never heard of Kinkaid but I've seen Anahuac scrimmages and they are looking good. Barbay has several sophomores starting on both sides of the ball and that might show a little these first couple of games.. With that said Anahuac should win this one..
19. I don't believe Newton and Barbay are scared of any team. If you looked at their non-district schedule from last year, I am sure there is no way you can say they were scared to play EC. They played teams such as, Crockett, Jasper, Silsbee and Carthage. They lost in the play-offs to a team that played in the 2A Championship game. I think what you really mean to say is, you wish they would have played yall the past couple of year because it would have been your best chance to beat them.. Newton and EC both have good football programs and you should proud of that and not call out Newton.. Things could always be worse, trust me on that...
20. You are right about Deoir, he's been in the weight room and he looks like a grown man. If he can limit or stop the fumbles he will be alright. As for Braxton, that is a dude with all the talent in the world but he has to do the work in the class room to play on friday nights.
21. Dude, take off them panther colored shades and look around.. We won TWO games last year and only ONE district game. You really think we will finish ahead of Kountze?? haha wow I think Barbay is turning things around but a last to first place finish would take a lot and I mean a lot of things to go our way.. I would be happy taking that third district spot that is up for grabs!! Here to you coming back down to earth soon!!
22. Flats is right about the outfield. With the senior in center, Anahuac has some freshman that can fly and I wouldn't be surprised to see them start on varsity. But hitting and pitching does need improving for sure.. Should be a fun season..
23. As for the scrimmage, yes there was a lot of JV kids out there. Just like EC we are waiting for basketball to be over with. As for Willis, with out saying anything bad, Yes he is gone and we have a new coach. Just my opinion, but the reasons do not need to be discussed on a public forum.. But on a positive note, our coach had the kids hitting better at their last scrimmage against Big Sandy. From was I understand the new coach, Curtis Penn, was a player and/or assistant coach at Barbers Hill..
