  1. Many different sports teams show their support by doing a _______out. Texas A & M does "Maroon out", Penn State has "White out", Baltimore Ravens have "Purple out" just to name a few. Apparently no racial motives, just supporting the team. Vidor football fans are great and have always shown support by wearing school colors (black and gold), but we have never had a complete "Black out." I think it is time to show our support by blacking out EVERY game to show our support to our Pirate football team.
  2. The idea around the blackout in 2009 had nothing to do with whether they were playing a home or away game. It just so happen to be home & senior night. The thought, from a football players point of few, was the thrill you get when you look into the stands and see all the fans wearing the same color. Blackout should be for every game. Now, for tomorrows game, wear whatever you want to honor Matt and cheer loud and proud for your Vidor Pirates. I'm sure that's what he would have wanted.
  3. Vidor Project Graduation is sponsoring a fishing tournament at Rayburn on May 1. Cost is $75 per two man team. Check-in will be at Mill Creek Grocery at 6:00 am. You can register in advance or the morning of the tournament. If you are a fisherman or know someone who is...spread the word. Contact me (409)659-1199 for more information. Thanks.
  4. Many of us where right here supporting Coach Matthews because we know how great he is with our boys! But if you remember many of those threads got locked because of all of the comments. Just face it, Vidor will never amount to anything in many of outsiders eyes, but we have a great coaching staff, great team and more fans than we know what to do with and we owe a lot of that to Matthews.
  5. Vidor Youth Baseball League has began its registration process. Registration Date are 1/24/09 & 1/31/09 from 9:00 am to 1:00. Visit our website at www.ponyvybl.com.
  6. Just for your info. the style of the game will be on offense a center who can block only with his hands behind his back , a quarterback, running back(who if blocks CAN use his hands), and 4 wide outs. There will be flags instead of touch. And on defense there will be atleast one rusher and a max of 2. The fields will be painted, there will be chains, refs, and working score boards and an announcer. There will be no time limit to throw and the Quarter back can run.
  7. I agree, bad job on KFDM. Showed all of Lumbertons highlights and none of Vidors. Even if they left early, Vidor still had good runs the first half that could have been showed, so that's not even a good excuss.
  8. No-from what I heard Hardin-Jefferson's coach says play when scheduled or don't play at all!
  9. He does love the game. He is also a great kid. He does a heck of a job behind the plate and is a great leader.
  10. Do we know if the JV are playing tonight also?
  11. There were a lot of errors last night. By the way, you can't have a perfect game, every game.
  12. Did Roman quit or is he still injuried from football?
  13. This is true. We have had a prayer at every home game since 9/11. The prayers are always student led, so I don't know if there are laws being broken. (Not sure and don't really care). I am so use to the prayers at Vidor football games that whenever we play away, the moment of silence is weird. I am always waiting for the fans to do the Lord's Prayer or something. Maybe that is what should happen. If you can't get your school to agree to a student led prayer, then maybe the fans should lead the prayer during that stupid moment of silence.
  14. Unless you know a number that is out due to grades pirateunfaithful, don't make it sound like half the team is failing. You've already made the athlete department look bad with all of your negativity, now you are trying to make the academics look bad as well. I am starting to wonder where you think parenting stops and coaching should begin. "I" personally check periodically on my sons grades to assure that he is passing. If "I" see the grades slacking, then "I" make sure and discipline him. That sir is my job.
  15. This has been a problem all year. While I dont believe wholesale changes in the coaching staff need to happen some changes need to be made. As for the kids they should shoulder alot of the blame some act like they could care less
  16. You comment that there is no discipline in the field house. What kind of discipline should there be in a boys field house (locker room)? Get real. It's my understanding that these suspension (rightfully given) are a form of discipline. Now if the player gets the reason or not for the suspension and learns from it may fall back on his up bringing. Obviously one player didn't get it and was suspended from another game. I'm not sure who your insider is here, but my son sure takes whatever punishment (whether its from his attitude, behavior, grades or whatever) he gets during practice or the games seriously and learns from it. To me that is how disciipline is suppose to work.
  17. There was a 14 year old killed while trying to cross the interstate last night. Channel 4 just released more information about it. Our prayers are with this family.
  18. Don't think so. Being stupid is not an offense. By the way what is a "penility"?
  19. I agree that one should not be where illegal activity is occuring and most people who get arrested are in the wrong place (some by choice, others by stupidity). But lets say you are driving mom's car down the road. Some idiot is driving out of control and hits your car. Not your fault. Right? However, when the police get there you don't have insurance because mom didn't pay the bill, they find dads empty beer can under the seat (or whatever) and you go to jail. Should I be kicked off the football team?
  20. Whatever happened to being innocent until proven guilty? Our society tends to believe that someone is always in the wrong if they are arrested, but I have seen many cases where the one charged was not a fault.
