  1. Hales did dominate the Lumberjacks. The 9 pitch 3 K inning was something. Alex Moshier, Nederland, pitched a quick 8th inning for the Jacks in yesterday's game as well.
  2. Elhert pitched well and picked up his 3rd win of the season. The Aggies scored 5 in the first inning and cruised after that. Second game of the series is today at 3. AXE 'em JACKS!
  3. Elhert is scheduled to pitch tonight vs SFA, 6:30 at A&M.
  4. Nederland ex's will abound at Vincent Beck this coming Thursday, Friday and Saturday as the SFA Lumberjacks come to town to play the Cardinals. Justin Walker (Nederland '05) and Matison Smith (Nederland '06) are on the Lamar squad (and can't leave out Taylor Mcginnis from PNG) while Alex Moshier (Nederland '07) has been getting his share of playing time as a true freshman for the Jacks. Game times are 6:30, 6:30 and 1PM. Moshier had a bit of a hard time putting on the Lumberjacks purple and white after wearing black and gold for so many years but gotta admit, it looks pretty good on him! :) Hope you can make a game or two!
  5. Interview with SFA coach Donnie Watson is in this month's edition of College Baseball Blog. There is a mention of Alex Moshier......seems he is doing well. Hope he is hitting the books just as hard! [Hidden Content] FYI, juniors and seniors looking for a great place to play might consider attending Coach Watson's winter camp at SFA on 12/29/07. Check the SFA web site for more details. [Hidden Content]
  6. Alex Moshier is enjoying life at SFA. The campus is great, baseball is awesome, and school work is getting done (or at least he tells Mom and Dad it is!). He has spent most of his time behind the plate in practice and intersquads but has also pitched a little and played some outfield. What little contact I have had with his coaches I have been told they are "really glad to have him" and that he is definately a "keeper". I am sure they tell all the Dads that but even Alex says he has been doing real well. Not so good news from SFA is that the new baseball/softball complex is not moving as quickly as hoped. Fundraising has been OK but they are still short of having the amount needed and the situation is to be reevaluated in January.
  7. Nice article. Jimmy is a great guy on and off the field. Thank goodness for him and the others involved in Mid-County Senior Babe Ruth!
  8. We knew that (or assumed that)! Thanks for the nice words, Coach B. We have enjoyed our kids going to NISD....lots of new friendships developed via Alex's sports and Kelsey's Westernaires and Project Graduation for both kids.
  9. No, Justin is the oldest (he will be a senior at Nederland) of 3 boys. He has an uncle that went and played at Angelina. There was lots of good pitching at the Nederland field for the 4 teams that played there on Saturday. Thanks to the umpires for all of their work in putting on this to raise $$$$ for scholarships.
  10. Wow...I would say that Justin Richard had a heck of a tournament.....was the winning pitcher in 2 of 3 wins on Saturday with a game winning hit and then winning pitcher in the championship game. Way to go!
  11. Come on guys! I hear Arkansas is nice this time of year! Anyone know if the team that beat our 17-18 year olds, Wharton, won in Denham Springs?
  12. Alex Moshier has committed to SFA. Although this will only be the 3rd year that the Jacks have been back on the baseball field, they were 18-12 in conference this past year and are focused on being a very good team. The $$$ is almost finalized for a spectacular new complex that will rival Sam Houstons (they thought they had enough $$ already only to find out the grounds were "wetlands"). While a catcher at Nederland, Alex has pitched some this summer and been pretty successful. SFA has offered him an opportunity to pitch and catch. Thanks to Sr. Babe Ruth coaches Collins, Landry and Wharton for their support and advice! Thanks also to Coach Robbins and especially to Morgan Walker.
  13. Nederland posters left out Jude Vidrine. 6'1" at last report with a great set of hands. He will be a factor! Jude is with the 16 year old Sr. Babe Ruth team at the regionals right now.
  14. 17-18 year old game MC vs Wharton was fun to watch. Lots of good pitching, MC had plenty of chances, just did not get the key hit when they needed it. Good luck to Wharton, they have a good team and should do well at the Regionals.
  15. Chris Laird (Nederland 06) Aaron Dalton (ETBU) Josh Cabra (Nederland 07) and Alex Moshier (Nederland 07) have all been offered roster spots at Angelina. I am not sure if decisions by the boys have been finalized yet.
  16. You know.....it gets a little old when people use this forum to only promote their kid or best friend's kid.....both of you know who I am referring to. There are other kids out there that just might be as talented as yours, hard as that is to imagine. Weak at the plate for one might transfer to weak arm or slow of foot for another. I am going to leave my post at that. BTW, I am Moshier's Dad and not hiding behind a screen name like others.
  17. Exciting pitcher's duel! Both pitched well enough to win but the Bulldog defense made the plays that they had to make. Way to go Dogs! Congrats Beau.
  18. Definately sloppy defense. Some of it can be attributed to field conditions. The infield had not be "screened' and had lots of dirt clumps in it. But the Dogs are going to have to play lots better if they are going to keep on winning. The Central team has lots of good ball players on it. IMO it is a shame they have to play on their field. It is pittiful to say the least. The outfield fence cover was blowing in the wind, every part of the infield dirt has a ridge around it. Not a small ridge but 8-10 inches high. And that is around the basepaths, the pitcher's mound and at home plate. There are more peaks and valleys on that field then around Kerrville. On a more positive note, it looks like they have a new score board since last year and although their announcer was talking over my head on occassion, he was fun to listen to.
  19. Only better hat throw I can think of was Coach Neumann throwing his toward (notice I did not say "at") an official to get his attention during a football game last fall! Must have gone 15 yards!
  20. Nothing against Shawn, but I think that the Broncos are a bit more formidible then the Jags. Congrats to Ryan on a heck of an outing when we needed it most. Coach threw both his hat and his clipboard! Great pictures, thanks Mekih
  21. Dogs certainly need to get the bats going. Mekih, maybe we can call the pitches from the stands and do a better job, ya think? Do need to stop throwing so many 0-2 strikes that seem to get hammered. That is a problem when you are ahead in the count that far.
