  1. IF Kountze wins out and Warren wins out and Buna beats Anahauc and assuming Kirbyville continues to take care of business.... Kountze and Hardin may have to play-off for second and third seed Buna and Warren may end up in a play-off to decide the Fourth seed. ****this district is a really fun district to follow! Let's the chips fall where they may...lol
  2. Coach Smith sat one seat below the top of one of the states largest schools football program that is on a real track for multi-year success. I assure you it was through legal methods and in no way will this Coach associate his good name or program with questionable actions or acts that could dirty his or his program's reputation. He will not accept an athlete into a Varsity program with out the proper authorization and approvals. This man wants to win and from what I know of him he will not settle for anything less than a 100% winning effort from his athletes...but what I do like is his demand for his athletes to be successful students first. I know he may catch some flack for changing the environment and some parents may be flabbergasted at the fact that he tells little Johnny he does not need him when little Johnny is not buying into his program...but honestly who cares! Get right or get out! I love that attitude because it breeds successful people! Coach Smith will get the Silsbee program right and they will become much more dominate than they have been.
  3. I agree burin gonna give them the dark horse T-shirt this fall!
  4. I thought Hardin was a good young team last and they have proven to be a contender this year. They will be my odds on favorite for the DC next year and maybe the next as well...JMO
  5. In High School Football the coach actually can and does play a big roll in one of his players being recruited and signed to play College Football. But when a kids like Hudson, Brown or Arnold...yes I know there are many more, just an example...anyway, kids like that are a different story because they become an attraction and they generate their own attention and recruitment with very little help from the Head Coach or OC/DC coach. Coach Smith has had several kids he has coached under his Offense go D-1 so I think he has the experience to help kids at all playing levels. The question as to why certain players are going to Silsbee vs going to the save all end all hands down best athletic program in the land...WOS...look at life past Athletics and tell how damn important that is because such a small percentage of players can even move on to the next level. The object of have a great athletic program is and needs to be more about carving out young men and women that understand what it means to be committed and dedicated to something other than themselves . It's there to create self confidence and self worth. It's there to be a guiding hand for ACADEMICS. Oh it's neat to watch a kid get next level opportunities but it's even better to run into a kid years later and they are a successful person contributing to humanity being a good citizen. Just my dumb opinion and something that's on my heart because I have been on the College athlete kick and focused on the wrong thing! Wish I had a do over!!!
  6. I only posted because it just cleared up the conversation. like I said it did not look like it was on purpose...but we agree on the interference part. No worries, there is not player out there that has not been in a sticky situation like this at some point in their career of baseball...LOL...mine has and he probably meant to hit somebody!lmbo
  7. Fielder has not moved and legitimately attempting to field a pop up...runner continued course and collides.
  8. Fielder making attemp and runner continues towards the fielder
  9. I agree with Javelina...expected way more out of Warren and Anahauc (dark horse)...I felt Kountze had a good nucleus and they have pulled together well. I felt Hardin would be where they are now and Kirbyville would be in the DC hunt for sure. Of course Deweyville (not sure about where their talent pipe stands) and EC (who has younger talent coming) would be at the bottom. Buna was a bit of a wild card for me...I felt they would at least contend for a three or four hole. Friday night is big in Hardin between them and Kountze...may verywell define the two hole and then put the winner in line to challenge for the DC? How it finishes: IMO 1) Kirbyville 2) Kountze / Hardin 4) Buna / Warren 6) EC 7) Anahauc 8) Deweyville
  10. No they don't but I did however see two pics that shows obvious interference...it did not look necessarily like malicious contact. But it did show the players contact. As a player you gotta know that you can't interfere with a fielders ligit fielding attempt.
  11. One thing for sure...this is a high school baseball game...when I say what I'm gonna say I am speaking being guilty of being hot and at times angry at calls ect...parents try to focus on enjoying watching your kid do what they love because they grow up to dang fast and it's easy to miss a lot of fun stuff being pissed. Let the Coaches and Officials do their job...once again this is coming from a guilty party, but you live and learn and yes, you do regret and wish for a redo! Enjoy the game folks it's the most awesome game ever!
  12. Is that Warren's issue is hitting this year. I know maybe a few errors here and there but it just seems the bats are pretty quiet.
  13. Good win Lions...keep putting the "W's" in the win column!
  14. Wow...very surprised at Warren. They are better than this and this team needs to pull it together and get focused or they could be sitting at home talking about what could have been. Congrats to a young but tough Cougars! With exception to Kirbyville spots 2-3-4 are shaping up to be a dog fight between Buna, Hardin, Warren and Kountze (not in any order) don't think Deweyville or Anahauc will have a real path and EC is in total rebuild...although I did have the opportunity to watch some of the talent they have coming up this past summer and they will be fine in the long haul.
  15. MOSSHILL...definitely Warren under performing in my opinion...Hardin is playing good ball. I hope they keep it up because they have some talented young men.
  16. I know WOS is good but Silsbee will beat them this year. I know that's crazy...stupid...ect...but y'all write down. I saw a Silbee team this past year stay on the field with WOS and could have seriously challenged but stupid mistakes, lack of discipline and a lacking defensive game plan gave WOS the game IMO. WAS NOT A TALENT ISSUE. I believe everything changes this year and WOS is gonna get a game. No matter what WOS will be very successful this year and so will Silsbee. Ok y'all tear me up! LMBO
  17. Of course he is out...that's an ump trying to be a micro manager or the rule book and forgets to apply common sense...JMO
  18. Wow...did not really see this one coming...felt like insiders had this one locked down. Goes to show you that when those doors close on an executive session any and all can happen...Congrats to Coach Smith, Silsbee is a great school district and loaded with talent...WELCOME!
  19. Here is my take about the removal guys...I realize this is a privately owned site and does not have to allow all points of view or positions, but guys it's just that that brings viewership to the site and in turn drives advertising to support the site...I have a pretty deep background in media and you are walking a tight rope here. When you are employed by a public entity like an ISD and you are a Head Coach...well being thrust into the public eye is just part of the gig. When the cameras show up on Friday night after a big win and you are praised...well that too is part of the gig. I don't think any media source should allow slanderous things to be published or broadcast about them or those they love. Race is part of life and that discussion will always be around and shuttering it is worse than the discussion. So if the reason for pulling the thread was because of slander by a member than the thread should have been taken down and that individual should have been kicked off the site. But know the definition of slander???Be right in your judgement. Be careful because censorship is dangerous especially if it is selective. Once again this is a privately owned site that is open to the public and it uses public issues to attract members and participants and income. I love this site and I have respect for its owner and administrators but once again I raise caution to the direction and tone you are setting if the reason for dumping the thread was not derived from slanderous behavior. JMO and please I mean absolutely no disrespect.
  20. Well I certainly will not take a shot at Kountze for supporting Jesus, but I will say the biggest obstacle for Kountze Football is community support and a demand to make it a priority. Make it a priority like they do in other extra curricular activities. Kountze will have to rebuild over the next few years and participation is going to be an issue. In addition, having a small coaching staff in comparison does not bode well for a successful off season development program. Coach Joubert is doing what can with what he has...my question is how long he stays in the grinder??? After this year the talk is; even in Basketball there will be drop in Success. Kountze has probably lost 200 students in the past 8 years and that hurts your participation numbers and hurts your finances as that corrilates to around a million dollar loss with no tax base to make it up.
  21. Mr. Green Jeans is hitting upon the truth. Look I am as positive a person as you can get on Kountze Athletics, but i have to be real at the same time. When a school distric spends appox 1/2 or less on each Athlete as they do another extra curricular activity and then when you look out across the field on Friday Nights and your opponent has 5 and 8 more coaches than you do...well 2+2=4 (athletics have been deemed non-essential) When your track program can't uniform everybody properly and Baseball and Softball cant buy field conditioner or even needed equipment but other programs can provide private tutorials to the tune of thousands of dollars (again athletics is deemed non-essential) when the community demands that the athletic program, in it's entirety, not just Basketball, be supported then and only then will you have a succesful program. Look at the successfull programs and look at the community support and demand...even when the success wains the participation does not because the community supports their high school athletics. This is not the fault of the coaches and certainly not the fault of the kids. If this honest statement makes you mad at me for saying it...then your part of the problem. I love to watch kids play sports and be successful, because it builds successful people.
  22. I am truly glad to see this...I told yall this kid was a game changer! Congats Kid
