1.
I have searched far and wide but I find no Yates grads as news achor, field reporter, or column writer. What does their communication program produce? TSU, PV,, or U of H dont have stellar communication programs. DV speak up money!
Did  you use google.  Roland Martin is one. You can find him on CNN.  He also has his own show, "Washington Watch with Roland Martin" on TV1.  He has a segment also on The TJM morning show Majic 102.1.  He's also an author.
 2.
I know no team has their own refs just said that out of frustration Yates shot the ball better than silsbee from the 3 point line , the foul line , and inside the paint , I'm just glad our team showed a lot of heart out there  Yates has one of the best programs in the country and I just hope our tigers earned a some respect against a top notch opponent  we need to continue to play more teams like Yates to get even better in the future. Thanks tigers for an awesome season , thanks Yates for respecting our fans and team hope u guys win it all.
We really do appreciate it.  Without question The TIGERS have earned more respect than what they came into this game with.  We as a team has and have nothing but respect for what they have and were able to accomplish.  I think student athletes often speak prematurely.  Often from cockiness, and sometimes just out of being immature, as kids often do.  More often than not,  it's that player(s) that contributes the least that does the most trash talk.  We try to teach our boys to talk less and let your play speak for you.  This is where we as adults, parents and coaches alike have to teach them the difference.  They have to understand you don't go deep with hopes that the other team will fear your name or reputation.  This team we have now is going through the task of making a name for themselves and getting out of the shadow of our 08-10 team who won the championships.  They are often compared to them and people, even our fans expect them to bust it wide open and leave no doubt, but that was a SPECIAL team we had then.  So we're constantly trying to improve with each game.  Having played sports, I know we all know that gut feeling you have before tip-off, kick-off, or that opening pitch.  I may be wrong, but we have to constantly remind the kids that for the most part everyone wants to win and if they show up, they will play you that way.  I'm proud of both teams for how they conducted themselves before, during, and after the game.  The Tigers have no reason to hang their heads, or beat themselves up.  We ALL know the feelings after a game like last night,  we too, have been there.  There was so much talk about it was going to get out of hand and scuffles on the court and the fans going at it and there was nothing of the sort.  Both teams shook hands like young men and student athletes and appear to have left it on the court.  To say our bases were simply divided by 2 pieces of cheap tape, they too conducted themselves in such a manner that was far from what some were expecting.  We may not always agree on certain things, but no one can ever say that Alumni and fans for both of these teams doesn't care or have passion for their team.  It was live last night One thing is for certain, TEXAS is no longer just a football state, basketball is here and it seems to be here to stay.  The LIONS and TIGERS will have a seat at the table!!  Stay hungry and stay focused!!
Was going to post our post and be done.  Wasn't going to respond to ANY of the posts, but this one was too funny.  Are you serious?  You think WE liked the officiating tonight?!! You have to be kidding.  The refs  SCREWED all (Yates and Silsbee) of our kids. Our SENIOR was one away from fouling out.  Majority of our starters also got a lot of bench time because of fouls too.  The only difference was we were able to sit our kids for a while.  They should never ref a game again. And I hope they DO NOT go to AUSTIN either.
I have wondered since last week,  who is the senior.  I believe both programs from tonight and last thursday list 3.  I knew I had heard it was only 1.
Actually the programs were correct.  It was one prior to the football season.  #23 is the senior who plays and is in the starting 5.  He was the one with the 4 fouls for us.  We hate it but when they get 2 or more early, our coach will pull them.  I think the refs tonight were the worst I've ever witnessed. I just wish they would have just allowed the kids (both teams) to play.
 4.
It's kind of funny, a part of me wants my Silsbee Tigers to have another shot at the Lions, but the other part says "thanks, but no thanks". ;) ;D
Hopefully we will get another opportunity.  This team Silsbee team we played is the kind of team you want to play if you HONESTLY want to improve your play.  You can't get better playing weaker teams and they showed tonight they are not weak.  We like to play teams of this magnitude.
 5.
Well I got to see this season's Silsbee Tigers at full strength.  They are/were very impressive at what they do and that is running.  Good back courts, quick as snakes, and I mean that in a good way.  What they are not good at, and what killed them was shooting free throws, and shooting jump shots in general.  Not only is there outside game missing, they missed too many close in shots and lay ups. Silsbee would of had to play the perfect game to beat Yates tonight.  Yates had the better team.  I see no reason to hate on JY.  I hope they go all the way. p.s. Yates' band and cheer group was very entertaining as well.
Thanks. (Good back courts, quick as snakes, and I mean that in a good way) Very true, very true

 7. To The Silsbee Tigers, we want to Thank You for the opportunity to be on the court with another great team.  You guys played well tonight and gave us the much needed challenge.  There's no reason to hang your heads at all.  The guys on both teams played with heart and determination.  Thanks for keeping it competitive and classy.  To the fans, thanks for making the venue as lively as it was.  The atmosphere was definitely Playoff atmosphere.  We look forward to seeing you guys in the future.  Seniors, stay focused, take care of business and get ready to take it to the next level...you don't have much time left.  As always, Aggies thanks for the hospitality and as we have said before a great outlet.  We look forward to continuing to participate along with it.
 8.
I want Silsbee to win.
Like we said in our many posts, "The ball can bounce anyway on any day."  So we have to be ready.  We are looking to play our game and if we do that, we should come out on top.  Good Luck to all of the players involved, for this game will impact them far more than it will the schools, communities, and fans involved.  For some players tonight will be their last dance and for others it will be an experience to remeber.  Who knows how the ball will bounce tonight, but without a doubt, it will be a great game and one to remember for everyone.  Good Luck JY and Silsbee!!  Both teams have worked hard to get here and now it's time to go to work.  See you guys tonight. Once again, Thanks Aggies Are We for a great experience and we look forward to future topics of discussion.
 9. Good Morning Everyone.  Well, here we are, tonight is the night you've been waiting for.  Hope to see you guys in the house tonight.  Let's turn the corner and get back on task.  In a few hours, it will be ALL said and done...so you call it!! OUR Prediction:  We will win.  We will win DECISIVELY!!  20+
 10.

Saw this tweet today from Beaumont Enterprise sports writer Jared Ainsworth: Jared Ainsworth ‏@JaredAinsworth I spoke to Silsbee coach Joe Sigler today on the Yates game. He said "We respect everybody but we don’t have a fear of anybody."
I've said this from the beging Silsbee fears no one I'm from Silsbee grew up there played football an basketball all my years went on the play college with that same Silsbee mentality I fear no one in any aspect sports/life that's what we're taught You really have to teams with the sane mind frame "Im better than anybody" Both Yates an Silsbee have certain swagger about them you gotta love a confident team
On point.
 11.
Truth is folks and this may sound harsh, but the Yates fan base is not really USED to winning in basketball..They were a football power for many years and had that same "swag" about their football program back in the day...This does not excuse inappropriate behaviors by any means, but its still kind of "new" to them...HJ fans have been used to winning basketball, and have a tendancy to be less cocky about their teams success...This has become their time to "shine" over the last few years and they are doing just that..Doesn't make it right, but its one of the major reasons they do it...They can't act like they have been there before, because before a few years ago...They really hadn't. ;)
Wow, funny.  Were you at the HJ and Coldspring game?  Were you there when the police had to come and escort a group of HJ fans who were sitting on the Coldspring side and they were about to fight?  Yeah, you know the ones that know how to act.  Were you there?
 12.
You played Kimball 12/13, really how is that possible? We just started 2013. Too bad you could not beat them in the state finals last year. I cant believe that you guys actually encourage the players to behave in the way they do. They are dirty players. I felt sorry for #12 on HJ's team. They were holding his shirt, holding his arm, made him bleed. Everytime he touched the ball, 3 players coverged on him and he still scored 22 pts.
Okay, I see now what I am dealing with.  The 12/13 you are referring to was a typo.  I meant this past December.  Once again, I guess no one has done that before either.  Sorry for the incident with #12.  Not sure if youv'e ever played anything, but you will get a scratch or two.  It happens.  I guess he was ok, he remained in the game.  Yes, he got 22 points and the LOSS to go along with it.  Actually, he is a GREAT player. We saw that during the Coldspring game.  No one from YATES will ever say he is not.  He's young too, so he can't do anything but get better.  He will be an even bigger beast before he graduates.  We will not take that from him.  We wish him well.
 13.
Yates is in 3A because their enrollment numbers put them there. Just that simple. I do know that HISD decided to not let their schools opt up a classification like they have been doing the last several years. But Yates admins actually thought their numbers would still keep them 4A and that is why they did not check the box to opt up.  It is what it is. I fully expect Yates to be back to 4A next realignment.
Trust me we want to move back up.  Not just for sports, but for the school.  We don't like this travel with 3A.  We're not the playground bully.  You only get better playing teams that presents a challenge to you.  Let me say this, we don't get excited about being district, area, or regional champs for that matter.  When we start the season, there's only one reason....STATE!!  Look at the schedule Coach Wise put together prior to district.  We played all top ranked teams, win or lose.  That was done for the sole purpose to be ready for the playoff run.  Hope get's you no where.  We knew the district would not be a challenge, so we pulled teams that would challenge us.  You get no where beating up on weaker teams. We do the best we can with our kids.  We don't encourage any behavior that is unacceptable.  Coach Wise will lose a game before he does that.  Case in point,  we played Prime Prep at our school in December 2012.  One of our kids, who is one of our shooters got into it with a player on the floor during the 2nd quarter.  Coach sat him out the remainder of the game.  Needless to say we lost the game.  Yeah the fans were upset because the kid was benched, but Wise handles his team how he sees fit.  He explained to the player how his actions played a part in his team not winning the game.  So, we don't encourage our kids to act like fools on the court.
 14. Wow!! Run from Dallas Kimball? Not at all.  We played Dallas Kimball 12/15/13 and we won 97 to 74, there's no need to run from anyone.  We never said you were not allowed your opinion, we just respectfully disagree with it.  Your opinion is just what it is, an opinion.  But it's yours.  We knew we would not win a title in 4A is what you said, right?  In the last 4 years, in Class 4A we have won 2 state titles (Back to Back), and we have made it to the State game 3 out of the 4.  We're ok with that.  We're not bitter and most definitely not desperate for a title.  What team do you know doesn't want to win the top prize?  If a team is ok with being sub-par, that's a shame.  I would hope every athlete strives to be the best, and yes, win a state title.  Everyone, just like yourself is entitled to their opinion of HJ, just like you have about Yates.  So I know you are ok with that too.  As a team, we have no reason to talk down on HJ, we have moved on to the next one.  Allow me to say this, it's not our problem if the coach only rotated 5 guys.  Did you feel like that way when HJ played Coldsping? I doubt it.  Coldspring didn't rotate majority of their guys either, they were on the bench in full uniform jackets.  That's the coaches problem, not ours.  If your legitimate big man fouled out, once again, not our problem.  The coach should have made an adjustment to make up for it.  That's what coaches do. Maybe he should have tried the run and gun, I don't know.  We come to play 4 quarters, not 3.  We will not feel bad for playing all 4 either.  That's a problem, you can't play 3 quarters and expect to win anything.  I hope that's not what is taught over at HJ.  BTW, we are a very young team.  So we will be around.
 15.
I have to disagree. Yates players were trying to intimidate Silbee's players after the HJ game. I am a witness. I watched the whole thing. Four guys from Silsbee were conversing with a HJ fan. The lady asked Jordan if he thought they could be Yates. He said that he did because he feels like that can run with them and  he felt that they have a deeper bench then HJ. All 12 or 15 players from Yates starting taunting the players from Silsbee. Jordan laughed and that big guy with the mohawk started to approach him. The Yates coach was standing with his players and allowed this to happen.  (He was actually laughing when they hurled insults at the players from Silsbee, SMH) The HJ fan told the kids from Silsbee to leave and they complied. I have lost all respect for the Yates team and coaching staff. In my opinion Yates is good if you like a run and gun team who has alot of great athletes. I thought they were very frustrating to watch as a basketball purist. They are not fundamentally sound, they dont run an offense, they can't shoot from the outside. Their big men cant even hit mid range jumpers which is detrimental, because in college at 6'7 they will post likely play the forward position. All they want to do is dunk. I never thought I would root for Silsbee in any game, but I hope they beat Yates,
I'm glad we agree to disagree.  I was there also and your facts are not completely accurate.  Which Coach are you saying was standing there with these players and pretty much approved of what you said happened?  Can you describe which one this was?  Our principal and the HISD officers who were present were handling the situation to see if anything further needed to happen.  We would love to pass that information along.  I'm glad to know that a single strange fan from HJ was able to merely say move along and the boys from Silsbee simply shuffled along.  We respect your sound skills assessment of our team, you did a great job, maybe you should have passed that information along to the HJ coaches and the outcome would have been in their favor. I'm sorry, you don't approve of our particular style of play.  Now, if you think that we're not capable of and don't already have the skills needed to compete against a team who plays the slow tempo, 4 corners, set it up (in other words the ability to run plays) we can, we have and we do.  We have played several teams we had to play that way.  But in the end, we control the tempo of the game, we will play our game, not theirs.  But I'm sure a basketball purist like yourself understands that.  Yes, dunking is a tool in our tool bag, are we ashamed of it, NOT AT ALL!! BTW, we got maybe 30 points from the dunks, how do you account for the remaining 89?  Maybe you should encourage your teams to add a few more tools to their current toolbox and maybe things will work out in their favor.  I'm sure If I asked you what about the team you respected prior to the other night, it would take you a moment to gather your thoughts. You can't please everyone and we know this.  I'm sure Yates is not the first group of people, participating in a sport who's guilty of trash talking and I doubt highly they will be the last.  After the Silsbee and Kashmere game, ALL of their players along with and adult (can't say it was a coach or not, so I'm not going too), came up the steps and started hurling remarks at our fans along with messages that they wanted Yates and to tell our boys what was going to go down. We didn't run down the stairs or any of the foolishness that should have went along with it.  We weren't offended either.  It did show us that SILSBEE is ready to play also.  Most athletes and competitors are going too at some point.  So don't wag your finger at our kids as if this is something that you have never witnessed before.  Me personally, I'm glad nothing came of the situation that couldn't be corrected.  So while I respect your opinion, I highly disagree with it. However, love us, like us or hate us, It doesn't matter at all.  We are here in this area to play and we are playing to win.
