Nope - and I hope he takes this team with him.
Lamar folks are so fickle. Give him a year or two with his own guys before you run him out of town. Who you gonna replace him with? Any upgrades begging to come to Lamar? Sheesh.

If Liberty doesn't hire Toby Foreman, this would be a great spot for him. Actually this program is probably in better shape than Liberty's. They'd be happy to get a coach of Toby's caliber and Toby will be glad to finally get a shot. Seems like a match made in heaven. The first school that gives Foreman a chance will be very very happy they did!

Always puzzles me when people expect pee wee success to equate to varsity wins.

This is a huge get for Lamar! Congrats Juan.

Liberty's Deel Resigns under pressure
Taylor is the guy. He will be offered, and he will accept. He turned down the Hardin job last year due to money, he will not turn this one down. If he had taken the Hardin job last year, he would be leaving this year to coach Liberty. Great get for Liberty. Hope Taylor can begin rebuilding a once proud program.
Just to clarify, my comment is not based on any type of inside information. Just simply my opinion based on things I have seen and heard over the past couple of years. -

All SETXsports Football Team Coming Soon!

Congrats to the guys who made it. I have to question why San Augustine is considered a part of Southeast Texas? Hubbard is a great player, but there were many impressive 1A athletes who play much closer to the region. Darrell Lavalais, Kentarious Lavalais, and Austin Edmondson, just to name a few. Either way, congrats to the guys who made it! -

If this is the list, there is no doubt, that Chad Taylor is at the top of the list. He is from there, he is a great coach, and he is looking to put down roots. Liberty already made the mistake of passing him up once, they shouldn't make it again. I am intrigued by the DC from a place like Plano East wanting to come to Liberty. Toby keeps getting the short end of the stick in these things. He will get a job one day and will do a great job. You just have to wonder, how many times we will see his name on a finalist list before he gets a chance. -

The Old Coach Final Rankings: Class 1A DI
Scatright replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
TOC is as bad at the final rankings as DCTF is at pre season rankings. Who cares about rankings, the Bobcats will be a force next season. Looking forward to a DEEP playoff run. #Finneyball -
Liberty's Deel Resigns under pressure

You must be talking to Bill Buchanan. He is a notorious all caps typer. Who cares. If they don't hire Taylor, Claus, or Foreman, they have made a huge mistake. If I was Toby, I'd hold out for a Golden Triangle job. The other two make sense for Liberty. The situation there is dire, and if they are allowing community members, teachers, and students to have input, it is about to get worse. -
A lot of kids that don't qualify academically go JUCO for a year to get their grades up and then transfer to a D1. There are some very highly rated players that play JUCO because they don't have the grades coming out of HS.
Exactly. Juco isn't some minor league college football curcuit. I played D3 ball, and I never saw athletes in conference like I saw when we scrimmaged Kilgore or Cisco. We scrimmaged against D linemen that played for Nebraska the next year. Juco is serious business. D2 does offer full scholarships, but D3 does not. Guys that play D3 are simply playing because they love playing. Every other level is trying to parlay 4 years of football into a scholarship or the NFL.

Wouldn't give the names? Isn't it a law that when requested they have to be given? Freedom of information act or something like that. -
Liberty's Deel Resigns under pressure

I'd love to see the list of applicants. Someone from the media has to request it, they don't offer that up. Hopefully someone will do that soon. You have to think that Toby Foreman and the OC from Dayton are at the top of the list. Having said that, my gut tells me that Larry Haynes will be in the mix. Most from Liberty aren't familiar with Foreman or Claus (??), but they are very familiar with Haynes. That seems to steer the ship at LISD. -

Dang Cougar, better do better research man. That theory isn't working. ;)
Burst my bubble? Charlie Strong and Turner Gill's wife are also white. Not sure about Joker Phillips or Alan Embry but what does that have to do with anything? Unlike most of the posters on here all I do is research, that's why I get pms all the time that say "good research" or a parent asking me for an off the record opinion even sometime giving me very personal information about their kid. They say the resaon Turner Gill didn't get the Auburn job and Charlie Strong turned down the Tennessee job was because they had white wives and weren't going to be able to recruit in the SEC. I never brought that up because I don't think that was necessarily true. This is what Kevin Sumlin dealt with growing up early in Alabama and the reasons he left.[Hidden Content]. It's even more of a recruiting pitch to say hey, "I know what it's like coming from the South and having to go to school where you don't necessarily fit in." Do y'all think behind closed doors when he's talking to these kids parents it's all about the 12th man or yell practice? Y'all are off your rocker. He's recruiting kids from places that were some of the most segregated in the country. If so I guess you believe over 70% of minorities voted for Obama because he's a democrat? My parents make well over that $250k mark where the taxes are increased and both registered republicans but still voted for Obama, I'll give you one guess why. Not saying he's the best candidate but when given the opportunity people's minds can be swayed by external factors that are apolitical and the same can be said for Sumlin in the football spectrum. My 12 year old son is almost 6' tall, 140 lbs and bench presses 165 already and can touch the nets on a 10' goal but my 6 year old just beat him in a 40 yard dash. I say that to say one or all three of my sons will probably get football scholarships just like Dad and all three current cousins that are of age and playing FBS football or have FBS offers. Even though the A&M board of regents gave me my economics degree in '06 UT was still the school of choice for me to send my kids to just like two of my uncles and one of my cousins that is currently playing for the Horns . . . . That was until A&M made a hire that shifted the Texas recruiting landscape. *I know most of y'all will read the article and say this stuff happened a long time ago but you're old enough to remember it vividly, some of you were probably part of the "Seperate but Equal" doctorine so I don't expect you to understand and you probably never will. I'm sure y'all would have been right along with the group watching Emmit Till also, but hey, the Aggies are relevant again and that's all that matters.
You are 29, have a 12 year old son, and played college football in South Dakota? Interesting. -
Talk about your big moves. From West Texas to East Texas and back to West Texas.
