  1. Where is everybody all of a sudden? There were 5 strands discussing this one issue for days, and now no responses? Hmmm...weird!
  2. Thought I read on one of these topic threads that BC called Green, not that he'd applied.
  3. Way to go Hawks! Nice job tonight. Actually, you did a fine job last night as well. However, like tonight's results a lot better!!! Everyone did a fantastic job...such a fun team to watch...you play as one, which is what it takes. It is a pleasure to watch each of you work at your position. And, special accolades to the first baseman...what a super job you do at that position. Just plain fun to watch you all. Even in losses, you hold you heads up, and come out the next time giving all you have. Good luck tomorrow! Enjoy the game!
  4. You folks know baseball...'on any given day!' Hope all three teams from 21-3A just play the way they are capable of playing...strong pitching performances, great defense, and timely hitting...error free baseball. Good luck to Bridge City, Hardin-Jefferson, and Jasper!!!!
  5. You stated the reason for the 11-9 score yourself...errors. That second inning was full of them...7 runs scored by Coldspring. They did put up a fight, and I see great potential in the team, but errors both nights were the downfall for them. HJ did a great job of coming back after their wheels came off in that second inning. Not much out of Coldspring after the second. Hey, but that's why you play the game...that baseball bounces some funny ways. The starting pitcher did indeed struggle...he was having problems with the mound it seemed and never got comfortable. That's the way it goes sometimes. The pitcher that relieved him in the third finished the game quite nicely. I see good things for Coldspring next year...particularly if there aren't too many players graduating. Good luck.
  6. Congratulations to the coaching staff and the players for a job well done. Good luck in the playoffs. How 'bout dem Hawks?
  7. I agree! Coach Jeff Stewart is a great guy! He began coaching Liberty baseball before he moved into the AD/Head Football job there. Did a super job! Good luck to him and the Dayton Broncos baseball program.
  8. Hey, j-dog...thanks for the updates...I appreciate that. Just wasn't Jasper's night, but they are a classy group of young men. Good luck in your remaining two games.
  9. Yes, as you say, he is a "kid," so why make a comment like '....stunk it up again?' It is a baseball GAME...and not a conference one at that!
  10. "Hair pulling nights" aren't reserved for Coach Lane, I'm afraid. There are plenty of those to go around...even at the professional level...Astros last night!
  11. HJ game just over. HJ wins 14-0 in 5. Ricossa pitched 4 innings, unsure of closer.
  12. HJ is playing Cleveland tonight. HJ is up 7-0 after 2.
  13. Liberty's radio station had the news story on the new coach on their evening news...you can probably catch it again at 10:30. Gives his background, experience, etc. He is interviewed, as well as the superintendent. Those call letters are KSHN 99.9 FM....nice long story. Can pick it up on the Internet, too.
  14. HJ playing right now. Was to start at 7, but got a later start due to LCM game. Will play again tomorrow afternoon.
  15. Don't know who IheartBP's source was, but that is the same info I heard from a VERY reliable source.
  16. They are playing somewhere else, but not all the tournament teams. HJ played Willis yesterday, and they are playing 2-3 games today with a couple of the teams that were to be in the tournament. However, too wet to play in Sour Lake, so the Hawks are traveling.
  17. Think that quality should be in all programs at Anahuac under new AD...disciplined guy.
  18. I agree with that, shorttexas1. It is a difficult job and most do the very best they can with the kids they have.
  19. shorttexas1, and when you are the coach, those in the stands see the talent you are overlooking! It is all perspective!
  20. I have been reading these comments, and notice that most of them require the best coaching staff to win district repeatedly and win state championships. I know the bottom line for the coach to keep his job is to win. However, I have seen coaches do great jobs with little or no talent. I watched a coach one year work with a high school team that had little league skills, literally. He did a super job developing those players. They improved greatly from the beginning of the baseball season until the end. This coach had to play all games at visiting fields because there was no playable field at his school. So, many times coaches are at a big disadvantage with their programs. In this instance, it was not just the lack of playing ability, but facilities also. He worked long hours to improve the program, and he enjoyed his job. Yes, there were frustrating moments, but he stayed hard at it. Most coaches do a great job under the situations and circumstances in which they coach. Many fine coaches go unnoticed because they don't "win the big one." Just a thought.
  21. Each of the McGallions that played for Silsbee were fun to watch.
