  1. Let me start off by saying congrats to the Dogs for an awesome season!! You all fought hard to the last tick. We look forward to watching the Dogs go even further next season. Now let me address my concern. I have been so embarrassed at the fans at these playoff games. These boys work hard all week getting ready for Fridays and Saturdays, the least that we as fans and parents can do is support them. I'm not talking about going to the game...to watch. I'm talking about getting off your butts and on your feet for these kids! On 3rd and 4th downs, inside the red zone, on kickoffs, and any other crucial plays. Even on defense! We have a great defense. They have stopped good offenses time and time again. Now...if you have been on your feet and cheering them on, then I'm not aiming this toward you. Last night I had an 82 year old lady on her feet every time something big was happening. So this is something to consider. Let's turn the Bulldog fans into our own 12th man!! The next time that you go to a Nederland athletic event, think about how good that it would make the team feel if they saw all of us on our feet for them! Again, I say thanks Dogs for a great season!!
  2. Run three times off tackle. Guaranteed first down. Throw in another tight end play. C'mon man.
  3. Will not get to attend the game on Saturday  November 13,  looking to sell 4 tickets and a parking pass.  If interested please call 727-1430  after 2pm. Seats are at W102**row 15**seats 22-25,  by the jumbo tron,  parking pass is in LOT A5.
  4. I'll email you later to let you know. He was also told that they were all the same caliber. But he would not see the field unless the other two got hurt. Gee, what would you do? Or you can call me.
  5. Just to let you all know, Sleepy, I am Taylor's dad. I DO know what Brian Mayper told Taylor. Yes, he did get a try-out. But, he was told some things that would hamper anyone. If you want the whole story, you can be a man and call me at 727-1430!!! Mayper and his staff are not telling you the whole story because he picked their kicker. Coach Woodard saw Taylor and said that he would offer him something. Then, all of the sudden, Mayper said NO. What's up with that??
  6. On behalf of the Nederland Bulldog Athletic Booster Club, we send our condolences. Our prayers are with the familiy and the students of WO-S. God Bless.
  7. It's alright. I just want every kid to get a fair chance. If they don't make it with that chance, then they'll just have to work harder. That's all. Go Dogs, Go Big Red, Oh, and Go Jacks.
  8. For your information, I WAS there and he even said this on the phone. This is not here say! Have you even seen Taylor kick? And he did offer Taylor a "Preferred Walk-On Spot". Woodard just wanted him to go through the motions. But enough about this. This is not what this board is about. I wish Lamar well. I hope they have a great season. If you want the EXACT conversation, you can e-mail me.
  9. You are right. I'm not disagreeing with that fact. But don't tell a player that he is the same caliber as your starter, then tell him that he can't even challenge for the spot. And if the coach thought that the first player was better than the second, why put the second player on the team. Special team coach even stated that the kicker and punter would back each other up. Why promise some one else? I guess my point is not whether one is better than the other, but don't make promises and not fulfill them. Just don't make them to begin with.
  10. Yes he is. And he is a good kicker. The All-State nominations come from their coaches, then voted on by the sportswriters association. But don't tell a kid that he is on the team and then you don't let him compete for the job. At this level, everyday is a competition.
  11. Mayper is the special team coach. Taylor went to the walk-on try out by invitation from Woodard. Try-outs started off shakey. Then he got better as it went along. He ended up kicking like he always does. Although, they both have seen him kick in a game. Special team coach said that his try-out wasn't up to his expectations. I don't think Woodard and Mayper are on the same page.
  12. Woodard wanted him to kick, but the special teams coach told him that he would not get to kick unless the other kicker or punter got hurt. That's not what Taylor anticipated. Stephen F. Austin still wants him, so he will probably go up there after the fall semester.
  13. Our second Booster Club meeting is going to be August 23rd @ 6:30 pm. in the high school cafeteria. We are looking for people that want to make a difference in our athletic program. This club raises money for ALL of our athletic groups. Please come and help out. Remember, it is for the kids!! I look forward to seeing some new faces. If you have any questions, please call me, Kevin Trahan, @ 727-1430.
