  1. Probably working some 8U somewhere. The coaches are freaks, but you gotta love the kids. I will be at the first LSU tournament again this year. I should be a good one with A&M and Ohio State coming down. Do me a favor and have blt22 stand with you down past the dugout. She watches the corners way too close form behing me.
  2. No wonder you're so good at digging yourself a hole on the field. U working the McD tournament? Mr. Hill, Mr. Espinoza, and I will be stealing our money at SK.

  4. I don't know if she fixed it. What I do know is that we didn't call it again. ;D Hopefully it will be fixed by next year. At the next level, we call it until it stops or the coach changes pitchers. This may negatively affect my relationship with Cheater. Luckily, OCG lit the other pitcher up enough that the coach pulled her before I could call any more IPs. She was having a hard time keeping her back foot on the rubber.
  5. I don't remember bringing it up, but it you are referring to the IP that Papa and I called in stereo, that was for the "Ragsdale Replant".
  6. Angelina College, Northwestern, Sterling College, University of Dallas, Lamar PA, LSU-E, Alabama State.....I may have missed a few. I started to suggest that you ask #1 Cheater. He was in full mingle mode on Sunday - shaking hands, kissing babies, and avoiding trash cans.
  7. Oh! it was your seeing glasses that I found. I fugured it was some umpire that had lost them. Not mine. I was there as a parent watching Lexi play. I am not, repeat AM NOT, associated with any of the umpires working the Spring Klein College Classic in the year 2008!
  8. Why would Peppers Gold start now?
  9. I, w/o family, just came back and am running on generator. No real damage. I fear the majority of the posters on this forum are in far worse shape than I am. If there is ANYTHING I can do to assist you, PLEASE do not hesitate to call me at 281-386-7854 and I will do everything within my means to help those within our softball community and the ones they care about. Just let me know. Wyman
  10. I have already stated how I handle these situations and would never question DAMan's interpretation of the rule book or his judgement. I will simply cite the rule: ASA Rule 8, Section 7, Article F "The runner is out when the runner leaves a base to advance to another base before a caught fly ball has touched a fielder, provided the ball is returned to the infield and properly appealed." POE #1 - Live Ball Appeal "In all games an appeal may be made during a live ball by any fielder in possession of the ball touching the base missed or left too soon on a caught ball, or by tagging the runner committing the violation if he is still on the playing field." Obviously, I was wrong in my interpretation of the rule as it pertains to this particular situation so disregard most of my previous posts on this issue. :-[ Now let's say the runner from second ended up coming around to score. When the ball was thrown to 3rd base, the appeal would not be automatic since the umpire doesn't know if they are appealing the runner leaving 3rd too early or the runner from 2nd missing 3rd. The fielder would need to inform the umpire which it is.
  11. Provided she had not yet touched home, she could return to 3rd and her leaving early could no longer be appealed. I didn't mean to imply that the F5 had to "announce" the appeal, just that it is obvious to the umpire. This situation involves DAMan's judgement that the throw to 3rd was not made to appeal R1 leaving early. I hate to throw the J word out there, but it really is as simple as that. Interpretation of the rule book is not an issue here. Nor is the size of the defensive coaches problem.
  12. I thought it was a wonderfully run tournament. Cheater should indeed be commended.
  13. Players are only required to touch a base on force plays and tag a runner on tag plays; not to do so intentionally. Appeals require players to let the umpire know, in some way, that she is appealing a missed base, left early, etc. 99% of the time it's obvious to the umpire that an appeal is being made, but in situations like the DAMan had, if he felt the throw to 3rd was an attempt to retire the runner coming from second based on the fielder's actions, it is not an appeal. Having said that, and although I wasn't there, I'm more inclined to give the fielder the benefit of the doubt and call the runner from 3rd out immediately, before the fielder throws the ball to 2nd. I like outs! We only need 42 of them in a 7 inning game so umpires should get them whenever and wherever they can. ;D
  14. Were these OCG's normal base coaches or their substitutes? ???
  15. If Gustav does not get'em, then Hanna might. I thought she was playing for the SEAHAWKS!!!! Good One. I gave you a Krama OUCH!
  16. I won't disagree, but they do need some work on their umpire mechanics knowledge. Jeeeeze!!!! Make one little comment to a Blue and you're labled for life. Ok--i am sitting here staring with a blank look on my face at my screen --and i am still not getting a time out. Whats the deal? TIME!!! Okay, what you got coach?

  18. Hey #13, let me know what you think of the CA Cruisers' coach. He and I went 'round and 'round a couple of years ago at the Batbusters' tournament in L.A. He has even less respect for umpires than your buddy Ken Glass. Fortunately, my head was harder than his.
  19. HTBT. I do know that coaches and fans are nonessential to the game of softball and probably would not have been missed. The Rowdie crew, however, is welcome to stay at any game I officiate.
  20. What are you doing posting on here? Shouldn't you be cruising around in a golf cart or something?
  21. Yes, but don't tell anyone I told you so. ;D
