  1. Very clever Weed. Better be careful!
  2. I can't say enough about Kirk Hall. Whatever my DD is as a ball player is due in large part to his teaching and philosophy. She has yet to have another coach live up to the standard he set for her.
  3. I'm not sure that all teams that currently play at the RM are ASA sanctioned teams. Maybe Jonathon requires it, but I don't know. Spring Klein is one of the only parks that won't allow other sanctioning bodies to host tournaments at their facility. Dyess, Katy, and others have hosted AFA, USFA, and IFA tournaments in the past. There shouldn't be a shortage of places for these "wayward" teams to get together.
  4. I'm not sure that sanctioning is an issue at all. I see no need to have any softball sanctioning body involved in this event at all. The only thing "ASA sanctioned" about a tournament like Ronald McDonald, for instance, is that it is played at an ASA sanctioned park. It's just a matter of inviting the teams and college coaches and playing ball. It's been my experience that governing bodies have a way of screwing things up with too much bureaucracy anyway. Sponsorship is something else. There probably won't be a shortage of equipment manufacturers or others (Triple Crown Sports, NFCA, etc.) interested in attaching their name to this. I'm sure Mr. Haning, no matter how rich he is, would welcome their involvement. As far as ASA banning teams that go, why would the teams care? They have chosen to do this INSTEAD of going to ASA Gold Nationals. Why would they play in qualifiers anyway?
  5. It's difficult to respond to this comment without seeming to be taking something away from Intensity, so I won't. Enough said. There aren't 5 "great" teams in the Houston area anymore, maybe not in the state. Good luck in an area as small as the GT. You expect girls who can get more money towards better educations at 4 year schools to turn it all down for what, civic pride? Give ME a break and IT a rest!
  6. If it happens, which I've been told is a good possibility, ASA Gold will be just another "alphabet soup" tournament as far as prestige goes; if that matters in the big scheme of things.
  7. I'll take 9 players who are in the top 3 on a decent HS team practicing together once a week over the top nine players on a good HS team practicing 5 days a week. I don't mean to take anything away from Intensity, but I doubt there were more that 5-6 teams at the IFA Nationals that fit into the 1st category. There may be some exceptions, and maybe Nederland is one, but JT is absolutely right; individual talent is the most important factor when fielding a softball team.
  8. At Spring Klein with R. Roth. Only 3rd time out this summer. Only the 3rd time......it has not been that hot. You must be getting soft! (or smarter) Hopefully it's the latter. And it is that hot! Plus, I don't work Sundays anymore either. Too much pressure in those championship games.

  10. No. Not enough vacation left and way too hot. Tell Pirates88 it's too hot for whining. ;D Be careful out there Papa.
  11. I'm not sure how to get dirt off the coaches, but I do know how to get coaches off the dirt. ;D
  12. That was R. Roth at the Super. He didn't work a plate so he pretty much stayed out of trouble. I do remember a very close call on the back end of a double play on a bunt, however.
  13. Not suprised. His name is R. Roth and he is a good friend of mine. He is the most accomplished offiical in the Houston area. He has worked multiple NCAA Super Regionals, multiple NPF World Series, and countless National Tournaments. The fact that a pitcher's dad didn't like his zone sounds about right. You say our zones are "tight", we prefer the term "precise". 8) He and Johnny T. go back a long way. Right JT? ;D
  14. He can take AggiesWeAre's spot. Surely he has been canned for calling people jerks on here right? Right??????? Right?????????????
  15. Oh, so OSUE, BAG, 13, and BC really are all the same person. ;D I had my suspicions. 8)
  16. Don't know what got OSUE run, but Cheater makes a very good point here.
  17. I guess Stircrazy wasn't coaching a base. He's usually pretty good at manufacturing outs. 8)
  18. No big deal! Start paying me $74K to call ball and I'll let even EastTX hammer me on here. 8) Well...better make that $80K. ;D
  19. It's usually the statements before the question that gets them run. Can you give an example of the statement so it want happen to ME? Most any statement that begins with the word "you".
