  1. Yea, I believe Tarkington will have something to say about the title. that said Liberty could pull it out, its not unfeasable to believe Liberty could challenge for it... This district looks to be a good, tough challenge for everyone. I see Liberty, Tarkington, and Splendora, that's just my thoughts, I haven't seen the rest of the district play yet.
  2. EC will take this district, and everyone who knows these teams knows this. Someone should make a new topic labeled "who will take second in 24 AA". Then we can all have some discussions about it. ;D And no I'm not an EC fan, they're just Gooooood...
  3. Hardin held true to form: giving up 4 runs in the 1st! They've done this same stuff in every district game except Anahuac. EC scoring 4 on ALOT of Errors. EC looked good at the plate against Hardins ace (Clements). Clements got ejected late in the game, but it probably didn't matter. Their bats looked weak against EC's starting pitcher. One of the only bright spots on Hardins offense is Jr. Shortstop Jordan Nolan, who had a couple of good solid line drive hits.
  4. Parker pitched very well for Splendora, George for Liberty pitched equally as well. As I said in my prediction, a low scoring, good battle, where Liberty came out on top. It was a GREAT game by both teams. Liberty bats were not intimidated by the speed of Parkers pitching. And George had all his stuff working while hitting his spots. Great game and good job Panthers!
  5. Anahuac, in my opinion, may be under-rated. They have a really good team, that wont quit no matter the score or inning. That says alot about character, and with good character comes good things.... Congrats Panthers.
  6. Kountze impressed me in the couple of games I've watched them, but Deweyville has the potential to be really good with kids they have. I say if DV's pitching is good, then this will be close, but DV wins. Good luck to both...
  7. Good Job Bobcats. Congrats to Chase. He's going to be a really good pitcher in the coming years. HD always seems to have some gifted athletes.
  8. Tyler George is a very good lefty! He has matured alot over the last couple of years. If he has all his stuff Friday, and Splendora throws their ace, it may be a low scoring game. Liberty needs to start manufacturing some more runs, they may be hard to come by this Friday. Good luck Panthers!
  9. I think Warren can give Buna a good game, and really, that's all it takes sometimes. A good game to the end can go either way. Buna looks as good as we all thought they would, but honestly, most everyone in the district so far has played them well. No blow-outs yet by Buna. Anything can happen, good luck Warren, (pulling for ya) make the district race more intresting...
  10. Hardin will have: Stelly - Jr. LB/RB Marsh - Sr. RB/WR/DB Remsing - Sr. position unknown (he could play anywhere) from RB to TE ( great athlete) Nolan - Sr. QB Collins - Sr. WR/DB Now if Hardin learns how to tackle before next season they will be much improved...
  11. I will agree with soking, Hardin looked terrible. Hats off to Kountze, who looks young as a team, and not afraid at the plate, like the Hardin players did. Hardin doesn't look like they even want to be out there. Here's my question to Hardin: Do these boys have any heart? I think these kids can play, they just aren't...
  12. Haven't seen HF but Orangefeild looked good to me the one game I watched. I'll pick OF in a close one...
  13. Yea, every pitch that kid threw past the Hardin hitters was pure luck, not. The point is Hardin was a better team last year, but who knows why? Maybe they're just taking longer to come around, there wasn't much of a pre -season this year.
  14. Hardin did well, they decided to pitch Remsing (their #2) against Buna, to save Clements for Kountze. Not alot of hits on either side. Remsing finished very strongs, but had a couple of walks and even some balks... Hardin had a hard time at the plate, Nolan had their only 2 hits...
  15. Newton and Hardin were actually Co-Champs. Newton won a coin flip for the better play-off spot. Newton got extremely lucky to win the game in Newton... The point is Buna probably wins this but Hardin does have a good team when everyone is healthy and PASSING...
  16. 2006, East Chambers vs. Hardin. East Chambers won 52-0. AT HALFTIME!!! The game got called for rain, but E.C. was on pace to score 100 plus... Maybe there should be a run rule
  17. I think Hardin can play error-less ball, but I doubt they will. That said, Hardin has the team that can beat Buna, I'm not saying they will, but they have a team that is capable. This is a team that won the district last year and they only lost 2 players. This rain delay actually benefits Hardin. Their number 1 pitcher can throw against Buna, and then they can throw their number 2 against Kountze. Their #2 pitcher (Remsing) is a really good thrower but hasn't had alot of innings under his belt. If Nolan, Remsing and Clements stay as hot at the plate as they have been, this team may surprise Buna....
  18. Buna wins this one, unless Hardin can play errorless ball. Something they have not done yet to this point.
  19. Sounds like this was an exciting game. A little closer than some people thought too. Good job Kountze for a good game, and congrats to Buna...
  20. I kinda agree with cardinal fan, as long as its just booing, who cares. There is not one person on this board that knows anything about the game they're watching who hasn't expressed displeasure with a call made against who they are pulling for. As long as that expression remains clean and doesn't get vulgar or offensive to kids and other spectators, Refs and Umps should not acknowledge them. I think personally, booing is just immature and childish, but disagreeing with a ball/strike or a foul in B-ball, etc., and then voicing this to an official - just keep it clean. And then let it go... It is a VERY TOUGH job and we couldn't have any of these sports without them. Thank 'em every chance you get.
  21. No doubt you're right hawk, but I'll be willing to bet that High School has a shot clock within the next few years. And the spread is a part of the game, its just boring to watch and frustrating to oppose, I guess the idea is to not let the other team get the lead to begin with ;D
  22. I knew this topic would come up as well, my son and I were talking about this a week ago. It seems to be a more and more common strategy amoung high school teams to get a quick lead and then start "stalling". Even from the first quarter. I am definately for the idea. I hate that tactic. Like it was already stated, it is done in every level above H.S. Might as well get a clock in at least H.S. if not even Jr. High. However, since there is no clock, I don't blame those teams performing the strategy now...
  23. Hardin won 6-5 in 8 innings. Both pitchers went the distance and both did a pretty good job. Clements for Hardin gets the win...Hardin still has alot errors in the feild, Anahuac had a few as well. All in all, a good game to watch.
