  1. I wouldn't say "destroyed." Hardin's girls basketball has had some playoff basketball teams and same in softball. Matter of fact, Hardin won district in softball last year. Hardin Baseball made playoffs a few years ago but ran into a buzzsaw of a pitcher, Grayson Rodriguez of Central Heights. Rodriguez was drafted high in the MLB draft after the season. But yeah, Hardin volleyball has been rolling for a long time and it's due to the Snells.
  2. Well, if Hardin is unathletic, then it must be the coaching. If it's not the coaching, then Hardin must be more athletic than you assume. Both can't be bad at the same time, unless you say that somehow Hardin must be cheating. Hardin has a very good program. Their head coach is fully invested at all levels, including junior high to the point where she is even there during the JH athletic periods. Not all HS coaches do that so it speaks to Hardin's success.
  3. Because they play club ball in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, etc. The schools that do well are really close to those metropolitan areas and play on some good club teams. Sometimes, club teammates will recruit each other to play for their school, which isn't exactly fair but that's life. Hardin & Liberty have a couple or three that play club and they are good, but they don't play/practice in Houston against bigger teams. Of course, they play big tournaments in Houston, San Antonio, etc and they do decently but never manage to do better than top 5-8. One team with local players did finish 3rd at the DFW International in Plano.
  4. We played Huffman pretty well in the Dayton/YMBL tournaments even though we lost in 3 both times. Scores were very close as well. It was really early in the season when we played Stephenville at the Wimberley Tournament so my memory may be a bit off but I seem to remember that they had size (taller than Huffman) and one middle was really good. Good blockers too, I think. Stephenville took Hardin down in 2 games. Scores were in the 25-16/17 range, I believe.
  5. It's 37-6, not 36-7. All of those losses came against either state ranked teams or larger schools (4A Huffman 2x, #2 3A East Bernard, 6A Conroe, 4A Fredericksburg, #9 4A Stephenville).
  6. Looks like Hardin/Danbury game beat them to the venue. They play there Nov 2 at 6pm.
  7. Buna made it to the fifth round of playoffs last year, almost making the final four in 3A. The Houston teams usually fare better because they play equal (or near equal) talent on their preseason schedule in tournaments, etc. The GT teams do well but it's harder to find equal talent to play in the preseason because of how spread out the teams are; that and the fact the GT teams that make it to the playoffs are usually small school teams, while the Houston teams are the big schools like Deer Park, Pearland, etc. Talent has a lot to do with it and having that same talent filling all the positions. There was a Houston team (CE King) that had the best field defense I've seen in a while but they lacked a pitcher. They had a third baseman that was really good (going to OU, I think) and if they had a decent pitcher, they would be a playoff team.
  8. I like it. It's not bad. Not the best design but definitely not the worst. I like the idea of the wolf pack mentality though which is what I think it's going for. I wouldn't have gone with the brown/yellow color theme though even if it seems to be based on the Wyoming Cowboys color scheme. I think grey/black/white would have been more wolf-like.
  9. The first thought I had when I saw the logo was Cerberus, the mythological 3 headed dog of the Greek underworld. I was thinking not bad, a 3 headed dog is fearsome but then I read the rest. Wolves are pretty mean; just check out the movie (The Grey) with Liam Neeson
  10. Doubtful because schools can't play 2 games during the school week (Monday/Thursday counts as part of a school week while Monday/Friday after school does not.) Most likely if they cannot play Saturday, then the next available game day would be it.
  11. Since the original 1st game with Bob Hope was during/after Harvey, it was rescheduled as part of a doubleheader located in Hardin. Hardin won both matches 3-0.
  12. Hardin wins in 4 (19-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-23).
  13. If you were there, did you see the ball hit the Huffman player twice (she hit it once on the arms, ball went up, then as it was coming down, hit her as she was laying on the floor, then another Huffman player sent it back over the net)? Should have been an illegal 2-touch but for some reason, officials allowed it. I think Hardin was leading at the time towards the end of the game?
