  1. Member and co-captain of the 1979 Texas Class A State Football Champions. The Mighty Hull - Daisetta Bobcats! Bobcats fight and never die!!
  2. Yes, I for one could tell when Coach Finney came to town that there was something special about to happen to our football program. My only regret is that he didn't have more time to mold these young men. If this would have been his second or third season at the helm, then the team he had this year would have been playing in the State Final!! I have no doubt about that!
  3. No your not, I'm dying on the inside as well, I have been replaying the game in my head for the last 5 hours, and the what if list just keeps growing!
  4. I gotta agree with you Falcon, the right side of that OL are GREAT! Really something to see, Coach Huck in practice always referred to the opponents across from Abraham, French and Cook as "that poor unfortunate soul" They will be sorely missed.
  5. HD has em right where they want em! Max Preps has the score 41 to 17 Alto. If they underestimate us like I think they will, we'll kill em. The Bobcats are underdogs, and that makes us dangerous!!!
  6. I wish I had a nickel for every playoff game HD was predicted to lose back in 79, I'd have a quarter to go with my state championship ring and medal!! If you Bobcats are reading any of this, don't pay any attention to the naysayers. HD didn't get any respect back then either, Heck we didn't even make the top 10 in the state when there was only 10 teams left! None of that crap matters anyway, its what you do out there on that football field! Let that do your talking for you!
  7. I played against Troup in the semi-finals way back in 79. We beat them but by only one point.(22-21)all I can tell you is that they were the toughest team i ever played against, but they were not in the best shape. Thats how we beat them in my opinion, they ran outta gas in the 4th quarter!
  8. Yep,the scrubs were put in too early. Now we're going to have to hear all the crap about how much closer the game was than the score reflected. Makes me sick!!
  9. Dang, no sense in even playing the game huh. I'll see if I can get the coach to forfeit the game, then we can all bow down and sing praises to the god like san augustine wolves. Better yet lets just go ahead and crown them state chumps!! LOL
  10. Really!! Hmmm....... I thought we stopped both of them. Oh well, I guess I'm mistaken, I guess if we would have stopped # 6, we would have beaten them by 28 huh! LOL
  11. Well lets see, they have a record of 1-5 and this is their first year to play varsity football. deweyville 100 anderson shiro 0
  12. LOL! just like when you said lose ARE players instead of OUR players! Look, I gotta life so I'm fixing to go. You have a great day and try to do something instead of sit in front of your computer and talk about how great your football team is.
  13. You know, I never talked much trash when I was young, I still don't. I always did my talking on the field, that way I didn't have to eat any crow. I guess what I don't understand is this mentality that a lower classification school cannot beat one of a higher classification? We use to beat 2 and 3A schools all the time. (although we did end being the best out of 1200 plus 1A teams in the state). There is one major downfall of talking too much smack now days, its a little thing called NO PASS NO PLAY, lets see how much Mr James has to say in about 5 more weeks, You can't tell me that team will still be intact after the first six weeks grades come in.
  14. From what I have been told by my son Sabine Pass has bailed. Thats alright though, I mainly want to see the boys get some payback against the Woodlands team!! They are quickly learning Coach Finney's new offense, and you can see the attitude change Coach Finney has brought about in these young men! All I can tell you is this is a totally transformed  Bobcat Football Team and I am excited to see how this season plays out!!!
  15. I played against Donald Moore, he was shifty and had a lot of speed, but was stoppable. Also played against Anthony Byerly in 79. He must have gotten better later, he played linebacker on defense, me and the center put his a** outta that game. We beat Newton 17-0 that night. The best running back I ever saw is a tie Craig James and Eric Dickerson.
  16. I am a proud member of the 1979 Class A State Champion, Hull-Daisetta Bobcats!! Still the only team in Liberty county to win a State Championship! And yes, we only have one ring, but how many do you have? You know, there are a lot of folks on here slammin HD. Thats alright, everyone is entitled to their opinion. It helps them feel better about the feeble teams they support. I see very few fans of teams that are staked in deep tradition talking smack, because they know that greatness is something that is earned and can be fleeting. This new coach is rekindling a sense of pride, hard work and sacrifice that will bring the bobcats back to their former greatness!! We are the Bobcats, The Mighty Mighty Bobcats!!!
