I'm leaning more and more to the fact that--as people begin to understand the real idiocy of universal birthright citizenship for people in the country illegally as class actions are attempted to be defined--more may understand this wasn't the true intent of the 14th or the Nationality code. SCOTUS may have given us a bigger clue than initially thought. A court would basically have to say their ruling is a pardon for breaking another law. Almost a chicken and egg scenario. Break the law, then get rewarded by the court system that's supposed to uphold the law? Are immigration laws any less important than the 14th? To me, anyone who says, “Because it’s in the Constitution” is just being intellectually lazy. Or, they really do have an agenda to change the electorate. (Of course, I dealt more with contract law than this other stuff. So, no expert by any means.)
  2. Class actions require a few extra steps. Yes, can get same results. But, it will be interesting to see a court certify harm to a group of ‘future anchor babies’ since their parents are breaking the law. Create a law for those breaking the law by entering the country illegally? I could see the court easily certifying a class action for those here now. Especially, one of the judges that already ruled the EO unconstitutional. Future? Not quite sure that will fly. Will definitely take some twisting. How would the court define and certify harm to anyone from anywhere at any time in the future who happens to have a baby while on U.S. soil? Would seem overly broad for a certified class action. This question will be at SCOTUS again this fall as Bondi said. Meanwhile, it will stop at a judgement from an appeals court since SCOTUS doesn’t return until October. My thoughts.

Oh, the fear mongering for all the anchor babies over this ruling has been outstanding! 😂🤣 If you don’t get twisted in knots over that issue, apparently the entire public education system in this country is going to fail because parents can opt out of forced teaching their kindergartners about transsexuals and gay marriage in the public school system.   6. When this decision is finally addressed it will be 6-2. Justice Jackson will have to excuse herself as she can’t even define what a woman is… Citizenship would be way out of her (it?) league.

  8. Maybe less now after SCOTUS ruling this morning. While people—including me—think about birthright citizenship implications, it also just rendered void the ruling that stopped the Administration from not funding sanctuary cities. That was a nationwide injunction. There were a lot of cases effected by this ruling.

  13. SCOTUS has made a ruling about this case. No more lower court universal injunctions. It has a bearing on birthright citizenship as it only applies to those who brought the suit. It doesn’t block Trump’s EO about negating birthright citizenship. This is HUGE! Sounds like a class action lawsuit will have to be pursued. Very difficult. Makes it ‘seem’ SCOTUS is going back to the original intent of the 14th which applied to former slaves.

  15. Yes. Chinese owned company bought the appliance division right before we bought our new fridge when our old Sears (Whirlpool) bit the dust after 25+ years. Didn’t know it at the time. They kept it pretty quiet & didn’t find out until I needed to use warranty. Still good to have jobs return. But, this one’s not earth shattering. Sounds like they’re just moving back in. Headquarters & manufacturing were always in Kentucky. [Hidden Content] Did hear U.S. & China formalized trade deal yesterday. That’s 👍
  16. Are they going to use/retool the existing facilities in Kentucky when they were still American owned? (Before the Chinese bought them in 2016). I assume everyone knew China bought GE Appliance Division in 2016.
  17. Fort Bend County Judge KP George is naturalized from India in 1993. He’s under multiple indictments—including being arrested for pulling a Jessie Smollett to get re-elected—and has now decided to switch to the Republican Party. He says Dems are politically prosecuting him & he doesn’t fit in any more. Republicans have said they don’t want him. Maybe, he can pretend to be racially attacked by someone self-identifying as a dog and get elected as a member of the IMPathetic Party.
  18. On the positive side, Mamdani doesn’t self-identify as anything bad, and I don’t see any signs of toxic masculinity.
  19. Would have been nice if that rule had been in place in 2018. Maybe the idiots in Houston wouldn’t have been able to force Lina Hidalgo on the rest of us in Harris County. She’d only been naturalized from Columbia for 5 years, not even 30 years old, zero experience, and they elect her to lead the 3rd most populous county in America. What a clusterf***k. Oh well.   20. Mentioned in another thread how Mossad was great at what they do in their sphere of the world. But, the U.S. is global. When people say ‘they’ control the airspace over such and such, the U.S. controls the satellites. Not much goes on that we can’t see ahead of time anywhere/any time. That’s part of the reason the Chinese are reportedly trying to develop a ‘satellite killer.’ If you haven’t heard of it, do a search for <China/Russia developing satellite killer>. Trump created the Space Force for a reason. People laughed. But, it’s no joke. By the way, 7th gen aircraft are already in test phase. Rumors have it that AI is being integrated. Makes me think of the movie Stealth.
  21. Gas Buddy has ours locally about right. I did see one Shell station that was 3.25 when I was out yesterday. But, it was the outlier. Most were 3.09-3.19. A lot depends on when they had to buy their last load.
