Done pretty good preventing runs.
I have been thinking that too, but when you read on here all the criticism is on the defense.
 2.
HF is 0-4 in district play and tomorrow night they take on the silsbee tigers at HF's field. To have any chance at playoffs they are going to have to win the next 6 games in a row. Looks to me like they played a bunch of mediocre teams in preseason and got the big head and now they can't step up to the plate and get the job done. They have lost 4 district games, 3 of them which should have been wins. In the WOS game they made errors and couldn't get anything done at the plate. When they played HJ, Jeffcoat pitched great but had no defense behind him and yet again they could not get the job done at the plate. Against OF, they had a great chance to win it in extra innings but 2 errors in the eighth cost them that game. And tuesday night against Bridge City, HF hung in there for the first few innings with a score of 1 to 1 and then 2 errors made by HF brought across 2 more runs and it went down hill from there. They are going to have to bring all they have for the next 6 games. And if the rotation continues like it has been Jeffcoat will get the start tomorrow against Silsbee and for HF's sake he will do good again and actually have some kind of "defense" behind him which will lead them to a victory.
It's hard to be a leader when nobody seems like they want to be there.  Have you watched the intensity that most of the kids have.  There is a few that have the full burning desire to be there, and then the other half who don't.  I hear a few voices on the field when the HF plays.  It kinda reminds me of your name "SilentVoices."  But they still have the full potential to make a comeback. Nothing is over for those boys they have a few good leaders, and I believe that they will step up to lead the team to more wins again. So leave the negativity out of this thread. Leave the "There is next year attitude." And let the boys figure out whats going on don't need the talking on here for them to figure out what the need to do.

Assuming that you are jeffcoat due to your emotional response to my post earlier.
Give the kid a break. Im glad to hear he is throwing against Kelly. It's going to give the kid a challenge, something to battle through. It's still early so layoff of him.

But I have heard rumors that Jannise is on track to break the UNBREAKABLE record at HF of strikeouts set by Phillip Lynch
I know this should probably be on another thread but with all the talk of the strikeout record at HF what is the record? And also where did Logan Johnson rank on that list? He had a ton of K's it seemed like.
I believe that it is 135or 136, I may be wrong. Logan never had a bunch of strike outs he just had the ball put in play to eaves team in 09. I do know for a fact that he is the current leader for wins in a season.
I guess I must be mistaken because it seems his senior year he had several games with 12-15 K's in a game. I think he had 16 one night against WOS at HF, he had a pile of them the night he lost on the 1 hitter at BC when Menard hit the walk off HR. I could be wrong though????
I'm really not sure either. He may be up there. I'll ask him next time I see him. Wish you could have rephrased that heartbreak walk off by menard too lol some of us here are still sensitive when it gets brought up.
Probably no more sensitive than the folks from WOS are when they remember that ABSOLUTE MISSILE Tommy Wendlent (sp?) hit as a walk off against them the same night Johnson a gazillion K's. That should put a smile on your face!! :D
You are right that does help to remember that in the extra innings, but a win against bc that year would have been nice too. :'(
 5.
Yes, that is true anything can happen. Im sure HF will have a good run as well, but Jeffcoat has to be consistently on when he takes the hill. Lets face it, he seems to get frustrated extremely easily and when i was attending one of Hamshire Fannett's scrimmages, he gave up a homerun and to me it looked like he fell apart extremely quickly. And if i remember correctly he hit the next batter. Pitching depth will be key for HF
Not really sure why you pointed out Jeffcoat?  But H-F has many great pitchers at the moment.  I have seen all of their games so far.  Jannise threw very good against Lumberton, struggled a little early with control against buna though but came back and threw strong.  Jeffcoat may have struggled in the scrimmages, but considering all the time that everyone had with the rain he never threw bad. Jeffcoat had a no hitter against Kville, he through very good and our defense and offense backed him up.  Both sophmores Herring and Johnson had very good games. Herring threw to Coldspring the team that knocked HF out of the playoffs first round last yr and he had a shut out.  Johnson had a no hitter to buna going into the 6th, and that was even after his playoff run with the basketball team ended. Jeffcoat ended up relieving him later and picked up a save.  Brooks came in the 7th against Buna Monday who was also on the basketball team and his stuff was pretty nasty.  I am still waiting on Wendling to make a comeback to the mound.  He threw very good his sophmore year and hope to see him soon.  So I believe the pitching staff is going to be just fine it is very deep with a few other relievers. In my opinion BC Silsbee/HF Orangefield/HJ WOS
I should be embarassed by bashing that kid??  My above post does not mention any kid.  I was referring to the constant heckling, yelling, barking, etc coming from the dugout through 7 innings. I mean dang they have gotten in the fans heads...I can only imagine what their opponents must be thinking... ;D
As a fan its just not enjoyable to listen to regardless of what side your sitting on.  I come to enjoy the game and listen to the sounds of baseball......the crack (or bing) of the bat, the ball popping the mitt, etc.......all that dugout noise made me feel like I was at Chuck E Cheese.
I guess you got screwed outta the pizza then    ;)
Just like the horns screwed y'all out of two wins too;)
Haha. Good post. I was wondering when someone was finally gonna play that. We beat y'all card. Lol
Well in all honesty I didn't want to. Guess it is a little late for that. But I will say I am looking forward to the next game in orangefield. I'm not sure the time or day but I'll be there. Both teams are very talented. I don't really like the noise that comes from Bunas dugout, but I respect it bc it is part of the game. I do also respect the freshmen mentioned for stepping up after a tough loss and trying to give it his all. But I was also there when it "looked like" he tried to step on out lead off after a pass ball whether it was intentional or not idk. I'm not going to accuse him. But once again the kid is good in my opinion everyone should stop trying to hype him up and let him just show his stuff on the field. Good luck hope to watch another good game hopefully my old group of horns can kick into gear early and stop waiting til the seventh.

Thanks
I was at the H-F Buna game and I clocked both pitchers.  I had the Buna pitcher at Low 80's and HF at high 70's.  It was a close game and HF pulled it out.  However I was slightly disappointed with HF's performance, they were lacking the tenacity needed to put the game away early.  I believe the pitching at HF has steadily declined since the dominant "Phillip Lynch Era".
Wait, someone has been a dominant pitcher at HF before?
Yes, Phillip Lynch was as dominant as they come. I believe he still has the record for most strikeouts in a season at HF  ;)
Along with most of the other records ::)
 12. I believe it will be a good game myself.  I don't really know why it would be classified as a grudge match game.
 13. I don't know how it could be much of a difference from the Homerun forum?
