1. Congrats Navasota, Its really good to see a classy team like yourselves move on. Dominating performance, & a job well done.
 2.
Couldn't believe I read this right.  "We didn't get beat," WO-S coach Cornel Thompson said. "We beat ourselves." Read more: [Hidden Content] I am pretty sure you got beat by the better team.  Sounds like the Dawson coach last week.
Not a good look.
 3.
Yes it was the same La Marque (Thug Nation) player ejected two weeks in a row.  Ejected from two of the biggest games he has played in probably.  I would bet all the La Marque fans Obama bucks he will wind up in TDCJ before he turns 21.
Did you really play the "Obama" card? WOW. The election is over like LM's season. Get over it.
 4.
LM had a great gameplan... it seems as if they were playing to not get beat by 20+ instead of playing to WIN.  Navasota Rattlers strike again!
Yeah because LM has never won anything. ::) Hats off Navasota! Good Luck.
 5.
Great game....too many mistakes and penalties by the Coogs...NHS played a solid game....although it got a little crazy toward the end.....
This. The mental mistakes killed LM tonight. They left points on the field, gave the Navasota a cheap TD, and fumbled in the red zone. Not to mention the TD that got called back (penalty). Can't do that against a good team. Hats off to the Rattlers though they did what they had to do to move on. Their QB is the real deal. Good luck!
 6. Congrats to the Dawgz, Great game & good luck. Dawson will be back.
 7.
Don't worry, I will have my popcorn ready.   I just hope, as a football fan and not as a Rattler fan, that this game isn't over by the end of the 1st quarter like most have been all year.   I glad you think Navasota only passes the ball, you just might get a little surprised come Friday.
You're flat-out smoking. No way this game is a blow-out.
 8.
Dawson is the lamarque of old, hence the reason lamarque dropped to 3A.    They seem to always be arrogant, disrespectful, and have an attitude.
Huh? I thought La Marque dropped to 3A due to enrollment. I wasn't aware you could be dropped for winning 5 state titles (in 10 appearances) , being arrogant, disrespectful, and having an attitude. Dawson is located in a thriving area and is much more likely to grow into a 5A school than drop to 3A. Oh & by the way, 34-20 Dawson.
Maybe, Maybe not. Just the same I like Dawson.

I pick LA Marque 34 to 29
It could happen, but I doubt that LM will score 34 on Navasota's defense... The most that the Rattlers have given up in one game has been 16 and that was against China Spring. The final 6 points came late in the game with Navasota already up 62-10.
That may be, but China Spring doesnt compare by the slightest margin to la marque. La marque in't the amature teams that Navasota has seen thus far, Defensively we are the real deal. And offensively, we have enough speed and talent to get the job done.
LM 35 Navasota 28 La Marque runs out the clock and hangs on in a close one.

And if our secondary can defend the pass just as good as they do the run.
Cougar, let me restate your post:  (1) If we don't have critical penalties in critical drives, (2) if we don't have fumbles that we lose or any interceptions when we pass, and (3) if our secondary can defend against the pass better than they have all season THEN we can win.  Sounds like 'not a problem' for a third round playoff team to me. 8)
A lot of the LM kids have played in some hard fought games against Manvel the last two years (going 2-2). The Mavs run the spread as well as anyone in the state, with some big time talent to boot. So believe it or not Navasota did not invent the spread offense & won't "shock" LM or their coaches. I think the Coogs have a good shot.

 14.
SC is good enough to beat any true 4A team.  GTown running their 5A team this year is wrong.
Summer Creek lost bro, get over it.
 15.
Third play of the game lamarque had a player take a walk and coaching staff has little control over the team. CS had their number but had some bad breaks hence here they are. Good luck
That player was ejected for doing something stupid. No other issues after that with any other player.
 16.
LaMarque has too long a history of this sort of behaviour after losing football games.  The best thing to do in my opinion is to tell your team to go DIRECTLY to the dressing rooms after the games.  And, of course, tell the LaMarque Coach in pregame warm ups that this is what you have instructed your team to do.  Again, LaMarque has too much involvement in this sort of behavior - so, "Defuse" the situation as much as you can. I agree
Dude, reading is fundamental, the report says it all. LM players are NO ANGELS but the report is from someone who has no affiliation with the school or the players. If you just dislike the school or the kids just say so but give the self righteous stuff a rest.
 17.
I can picture Calallen wining this game.
Calallen's margin for error will be small, and if they turn the ball over the game will be over quickly. Manvel will be a tough out.

Is it that hard to run like a normal human being? He tried to push the refs and see what he could get away with....gotta face the consequences. Just because he's on track to break records doesn't clear him of not following the rules and consequences. Thats whats wrong with society, people who think it should be ok to break laws and rules that govern us, just because a record may get broken, or because of status, or etc.  take your emotion out of it.
How about you take your emotions out of it. I actually watched the entire game after i found out about this and seen SEVERAL players that did there little celebrations after they got a sack or a tackle or something else and was not given the second look by the ref but when the leading rusher of the game does a penalty as stupid as high stepping, he gets the flag and the ejection. It is plainly obvious that the ref had something against him.
i have no emotions about it....i could care less either way..... in general I just don't get why players have to selfishly celebrate and bring attention to themselves....if your gonna celebrate...celebrate as a team
So the first penalty was the "cut throat" jesture that was done towards his teammates.....does that count as celebrating with your team.  I don't think so. The high step run was a violation of the rule.  I have not problem with it being called but just like the earlier poster said, it needs to be consistent.  There was an instance when one player from the other team celebrated like he had won the superbowl when he made a goal line tackle.  However, the person he tackled did not have the ball and Aledo scored on the play and they were not behind by 21 points.  His display was twice as over the top as to compared to anything that JGray did, but the flags stayed in the pocket.  Just did not seem to be enforced the same on both sides. Like I said, with all the talk that had taken place the week before in the area, both teams were very keyed up.  I am not excusing his actions and it is very out of character for him to do something like that.  I was more disappointed that it was not being called the same both ways.
I watched J.Gray score 8td's on my LM team in the 4A title game last year, and I don't have one ill word to say about the kid. He carries himself well and is one helluva running back. But when you're on top anything you do is going to be scrutinized and yes some people will overreact to the simplest things, like high stepping after earning your TD. Football is emotional & expecting this kids to behave like robots is silly. Especially when his actions didn't directly involve embarrassing the other squad. DUMB CALL!

Larry Bird was the biggest trash talker in the NBA & got into his share of altercations during his HOF career.
 20. Coach Wells has been in a ton big time games during his career & watching Tony Heath get a ring last year, I know he's hungry to get a ring as an HC as well. Remember no one thought  Pearland could beat Trinity last year & Tony pulled it off. Coach Wells is no slouch, has access to some of the best coaching minds & biggest winners in the state. I know he can get the plan but can Dawson execute it against Lake Travis? I dunno. I wouldn't throw dirt on Dawson, Dawson has talent and in a one game scenario anything can happen.
 21. LM Fan here, First of all let take my hat off to the Manvel Mavericks for the magnificent game they played on Saturday. You guys are benefiting (as we have) from one of the best coaching performances in the area. The game could have truly gone either way but Manvel FLAT OUT GOT IT DONE. LM had more yards but Manvel had more big plays. Whatta game the kids played, & to see them congratulating each other afterwards was cool too. You can tell that the kids from each school really respect each other's talent. Also Congrats to the Dawson Eagles for their victory in 4A division I. Eric Wells cut his teeth at LM & he is guiding his team well. No doubt 24-4A maybe the toughest district in the state REGARDLESS OF CLASSIFICATION.
With all due respect, if Dayton had Cody Green under center vs Manvel the game would have been more competitive. Herrera is a TOUGH COOKIE, but he was just too small to see over the pass rush & pass plays consistently broke down because of it. After a few possessions the offense lost confidence. That said, Herrera had a great career & deserves to be recognized. On the other hand, Dayton's kicker should have his own thread he's got one of the strongest legs I've seen in H.S. He's a stud.
You're smokin. Manvel stopped LM inside the 10 three times and scored on a busted coverage in a 29-14 home win. On a neutral field in the playoffs and with everything on the line, It'll be a nail biter.
Manvel dropped a TD in the endzone too!
Look no doubt Manvel is very impressive, but LM tends to play better in the playoffs so we'll see. LM's coach was worried about showin too much last week and basically ran only a few plays. I bet he throws the ball more than 4 times next week.
Gonna have to... But the pass rush will be there!
No doubt! Manvel sacked LM six times last game. Forced to throw away or run at least six other times. If LM's plan is to throw a lot, I'm sure the LM QB is already having nightmares!
No time for nightmares, LM is playing with "house money" anyways, Manvel is the juggernaut that just made a Dayton team quit, intimidated Yates, & as Kirk Martin put it "got after LM's tails" the 1st game. So LM will be loose, if LM loses, hey they weren't supposed to beat BIG BAD Manvel anyway. But if Manvel falls behind the pressure is going to be tremendous! At any rate, it's going to be a good game.
[sub][/sub] Made a Dayton team quit? Dayton was undersized, overmatched, and flat out beat by a far better team, but to say they quit is down right foolish. I said it earlier and I still believe it, Manvel will roll right on to state.
Yawn.
