  1. Then Ike needs to wait till early next week to come ashore (Monday).
  2. tOUGH SITUATION. You don't want it coming in your direction, but that means it has to go towards another populated area.
  3. Dang, we must be in the Twilight Zone! :'(
  4. I think they should let the Hamshier-Fannett 8th grade team play varsity this season. Maybe they would make the district tougher for HJ
  5. Now see, heres a woman (?) that knows what she (?) is talking about. Bring it on!!
  6. It's good to have a "hook-up" at the college level.
  7. Hmmm! And this is coming from channel 6? Hmm ??? ;D
  8. Maybe the kid needs to read it!!! Wake the He!! up! The world does not owe him a thing. It is his responsability to make his mark on the world. Either he wakes up and becomes a positive impact on society, or continue down the same path and become another kid with a world of potential who didn't use it; if for nothing else a free education. True Dat Short! True Dat!
  9. [quote author=shorttexas1 link=topic= Example... All the things my parents said to me about college was tottally irrelevant and untrue (because you can go to college and still be a bum, it depends on the degree)... I put research into finding out more and that is what pushed me to college. On the other hand I have a friend that is a 6th generation UT grad. All that knowledge and experience is what he grew up seeing. So he knew exactly what college had in store for him, and what majors paid good income). Last example, my parents told me get a college degree and you will be successful, untrue. Most Black /Low Income kids that go to college, use financial aide(loans), get the easiest degree, and then don'yt even make enough money to pay those loans back while concurrently paying for room and board and transportation (If they even find a job). Then they wind up with bad credit and struggling the rest of their life. A college degree is not the cure all, the appropiate degree is! That is the difference between a having college parents and having non-college parents. All JBrown sees in PA is the streets and that mantality. He is blind to anything else and his parents mere words don't budge him or make him care about anything else. Only foolish street kids think college is irrelevant, toughness is better intellegence, respect is better than education, and making babies is better than being a father. I can see his parents TRIED... That is why they sent him to Kelly (hoping to take him out of the element), but he did not want to see or be part of anything else because all he knew his entire life is PA. I am not saying that some kids don't get out... But the majority don't! I grew up in Houston's 5th Ward and my parents never told me about college because they never attended a college or university. Growing up I use to idolize the pimps because I liked the cars they rode in down Lyons Ave. But I also had people like Dickie Vitale's dad to balance out that wayward thinking. The coach's were from the same neighborhood I was from and I CHOSE to use them as my models. Whereas, some of my other friends decided on the street life. I agree, it's about choices and we have to be willing to pay the price for whatever choice we make in life or on the court.
  10. Who is J.L.? John Lucas, former Rocket. Oh...........did not realize that Bluedove and Lucas were on a initial calling basis!!!!! ;D Lucas runs a mean camp. You should refer some players to Houston who want to compete.
  11. I don't think it take too many slaps up side the head to finally wake you up. I think the kid's academics is really going to hurt him unless he does a serious turnaround, which is possible; but you gotta want it!
  12. The kis has moved to Houston................. J.L. is going to work with him and be his mentor. I think it's a big move for Brown.
  13. This is what I like about Orangefield. The fans know the potential is there. hey blue what about HF last place again Yep, I've been convinced by other HF supporters that HF is all about football, and we will end up in last place again for 2009.
  14. Wishful thinking! This kid wants to play big time basketball. He has already turned down San Jac and obviously doesn't want to attend Juco. At the moment, he is a high profile player and wants to play against the big boys.
  15. Mobil, Standard, Motiva, Texaco, or whatever! It's time to shell out some money to the program.
  16. I think it would be a good idea to provide a back-drop behind the Montagne Center to camouflage Mobil Oil if he visits Beaumont.
  17. It floors me whenever I see these kids with all this publicity and they attend some small private school. Back in my day, you were not taken serious in sports if you attended a private school. Parents holding their kids back a year for the sake of competition, AAU/Summer teams are now the outlet for players getting their names out there for scholarships, 15 year old kids being home schooled and playing in lower age divisions, etc, etc, etc. The game has really changed.
  18. This is what I like about Orangefield. The fans know the potential is there.
  19. You're right, if you have the right horses it's a monster defense. It's almost like watching a painter paint his masterpiece on canvas and all the colors blend in together.
  20. Man, I use to play at the top on the 1-3-1- but it was more like a 3/4 for me. I was all alone on an island. Man, I would talk about the coach who called that defense but his son is the guru on the board. I use to hate that zone. I had to hustle too much. But darn it, when I played right, it worked like magic
  21. This kid can be the real deal. I've seen defense on him (this summer) and the kid is quick, even against older players. He'll get open if the other players stay out of his way. But he has to play within the coach's system too.
  22. ZONE= lazy players man= you better have some horses on that team
  23. Excellent! Excellent! Excellent points! Thats why it is so important that your kid keeps working out whether he matured earlier and he's the super star on the elem. team or still trips over his feet and the weakest player on the team. Keep working out.
  24. I run into so many kids today who played ball in high school. It seems like the game stops for them because they were not aggressive enough to FIND a school. Some players are late bloomers. It's too many JUCOS' out there for many of them not to be playing ball somewhere and getting a free education for at least two years.
  25. Okay, keep us posted on any updates for this kid. I hope he signs with LUPA
