It seems the fans from Navasota went blind at the end of the game and didn’t see that ..  From the Great T.O.  "You better get your POPCORN READY " You pass...                    LM Pass & RUN
Here is a link of the whole game. In reference to whats in bold above click the link and watch at 1:59:00 [Hidden Content]
Wanna talk blind...l'm still trying to figure out the call at the 56 minute mark.  I've slowed it down, replayed and replayed that bit and still don't see the ball hit the ground... Any one have any other camera angles of this play???
 2.
Congratulations to LaMarque.  You deserved the win.  Good luck in the playoffs. You definitely have one of the toughest roads to the championship in 3A Div II.  After Coldspring, you get Navasota.  Then, with a win there, you most likely get WOS. Good luck and see you again in preseason next year.  P.S. I am assuming we will play in Coldspring next year since we played in LaMarque this year.  I would like to apologize ahead of time for our visitors bleachers.
The visitor bleachers?!?! The home bleachers aren't much better!!! :) Congrats LaMarque.  A game well played.  Good Luck next week.  I have a feeling Navasota just may be it for you guys.
 3.
Walk threw the halls before you judge them young man, this group of boys have more heart than you really know! And btw, I'm 65 years old, If I miss use a word or use the wrong word, then so be it, you new exactly what I was saying, but being the young immature person you probably are, it seems to make you feel better to criticize ones spelling and kids.
I have walked through the halls in both Cleveland AND Coldspring High Schools.  I gave my opinion on how they felt for me to walk through.  I am not a young man. I am a grown woman who has been teaching kids for more years than I care to admit.
Coldsprings had more personal penalties and penalties for chop blocking , don't cry because our boys played the game as they were suppose too! :)
I am not criticizing the kids at all. I'm just saying that one who lives in a glass house shouldn't throw stones.  Saying your boys played as they were supposed to, is one pretty good sized rock.  Both teams made mistakes.  In fact BOTH teams made some HUGE mistakes, just because a penalty wasn't called doesn't mean it didn't happen.
 4.
Coldsprings had more personal penalties and penalties for chop blocking , don't cry because our boys played the game as they were suppose too! :) btw, metal detectors are always good for Coldsprings, you apparently don't remember one of there kids who played basketball season before last bringing a gun and knife to the school.

Aww, is that the best you have? Your how old?  :)
Their  and  you're ...  and the Coldspring education system taught me that.  Walking through the halls of Coldspring with kids never felt uncomfortable.  Walking through the halls in Cleveland is a different feeling altogother.  The entire atmosphere feels...thicker. As for the game and the penalties, we all know that just because a penalty call is made doesn't mean the offense happened. And just because there was no penalty call doesn't mean there was no offense.    Coldspring has some very big hearted kids on it's team, they are the first ones to pat the other team on the back for a great play.  But if provoked,  they will not just roll over and take it either. There was plenty of mud slinging from both sides in that game last night. Sadly Coldspring became the officials whipping boy.

 6.
I gotta at the Coldspring vs. Bellville playoff game that went to overtime.  I was on the edge of my seat the entire game.
That game nearly killed me!!! I hurt the whole weekend from how tense I was during that game.  And that was just from being a spectator!!!
 7.
:( These results sure seem to lean to the best team in the district.  Granted CS has some great players, but not all the players on CS are the best in the district.  This should be done more fairly to include all the kids that work hard everyday all over the district.  Just an idea to reward some kids that don't have the glory of a state bound team.
HUH?  Aren't they supposed to lean towards the best in the district?  I'm a girl and even I know that.  Let the school district have a banquet and recognize the hard work and dedication the players have put forth.  These awards are to recognize the players for their actions on the field not how dedicated they are to the game.

Way to go Wimberley. See ya next friday!
I'll certainly be rooting for the Texans!
You and Me both. :)
 9.
They really should have played this game in Kyle Field.  I know the game site is closer for Wimberley, but is there gonna be enough roo for everyone that is going.  Seems like a small venue for this big of a game.
The 3 hr drive is causing quite a few to back out.  Some are also backing out due to the annual Christmas on the Square Event this weekend... the rest of us have our priorities straight. :)
 10.
Before this coach showed up I think they played for state twice right? Peveto was a great coach and this ain't their first rodeo.  I like the barbay @ Anahuac if that's thesame family.
The Anahuac coach and CS coach are brothers.  Didn't Brian Barbay assistant coach for Peveto at CS before he died?
 11.
I agree with that but isn't that what a team sportsmanship is about? The whole team. Most teams titled with bad sportsmanship is actually one or two players.
That is very true!  Any one in uniform, or team spirit shirts, jersey's etc, represent the team. As such, their actions or opinions reflect the team.  This is just as true for the fans.  One slip up can make us look bad.
I believe THAT made the difference last night.
That and all the talk about our offense not being everything is has been hyped up to be really motivated the players.
Should we start a smack talking thread and pretend to be Devine or Wimberly? Just smack talk the Trojans til next week? ;) Hey... if it helps right? I know nothing about Devine but if Wimberly is anything like last year... they are a great bunch of boys.  Very well mannered and GREAT Sportsmanship...  they are more like CS in that they don't worry so much about returning smack, they show it on the playing field.
I thought you was a "village idiot" if you talk smack? Don't root your own town out. Last year did you not see that Wimberly player, after the whistle, grab a receiver from behind and slam him on the ground? Only because he man-handled him blocking all night between the whistles. That was Wimberly. He was ejected for fighting, so no they didn't have sportsmanship, nor have we ever had a player do that. our player was not ejected and luckily didn't have any injuries. I talked to the Receiver he learned a life lesson that night to always protect yourself.
I think he either played corner or saftey.  He would have late hits, helmet to helmet hits and just played dirty. He was out to "put someone out"  I was happy when he was ejected. But as a whole,  the team had pretty good sportmanship.
Am I thinking of the wrong school?  Well hrmm... I remember lots of dirty playing in last years playoffs.  Columbus being right up there. I'll be one of the first people to tell you I make mistakes.  I guess it's the lack of a male ego.  But don't mistake my refusal to take the bait as a sell out of my town.  I choose to allow our boys to make their own statement.

Second question: is the Sykes related to James who played in the NFL and Rice? Thanks
Not sure about Scott.  Most likely related.  And I think James is his daddy.
Coach James Sykes (Cleveland ISD) is not Jerrell Sykes' daddy. I think Coach Sykes is Jerrell's uncle. Jerrell's dad was a great athlete too. I don't think Alfred Scott and Pharnell (sp?) Scott are closely related; however, they may be.
Oh I'm sorry. I thought last year someone told me James was his father.  Just goes to show how wrong small town gossip can be ;)

 15.
Huh???? Have you been to a basketball game? Of course, not the same fan base; however the gym is always packed. Additionally, baseball and other sports have solid support...Trojan Pride is evident in all areas of boys sports, band, etc.....not that it matters for this thread.
I didn't mean to imply they didn't have support, I just meant that you don't see our other teams getting the pep rallies, bonfires... the stand loud and stand proud recognition they deserve.  And sadly no, I haven't been to any of the basketball games. :(  And on a predominately male board I wont even open the can of worms over the girls teams.
I believe THAT made the difference last night.  I know in my heart if we had played last night as we had in the previous playoff games we'd be sending WOS to next weeks game.  Once again Congrats to both teams for what was by far my favorite game of the season.  Job well done!
 18.
Hey guys ....let cs-14-0 get all his taking out now because after football season he won't have anything to talk about .......sports will be over for him ....while we carry on and run deep in just about ever sport.........good job coldspring  best of luck !!!!
The sad thing is Coldspring excels at many other sports... they just don't have the fan base that football does... I guess those sports just aren't as testosterone filled. ;)
 19. That's why I love my Trojans. Congrats WOS on a great season.  And thank goodness no major injuries tonight.  I see Jay Trapp at each of these games and I shutter to think about the strain and sometimes danger that this game can put on these kids.  The love of the game can be life changing but should not be debilitating. Way to go Trojans.  Day by Day.
 20.
I will be here for sure. No reason for me to serve crow or eat it though.
I want my boys to win... but regardless how this game ends the pride I have for this team will not waiver.  I'm praying for no injuries on either side and a great display of sportsmanship.  No need for either team to eat crow, I think it's been a great run on both sides. I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it.  :) It's gonna be a great game. PS: every team has their "village idiots"...  :o

 22.
I look for the weather to be perfect.  Couldn`t ask for better weather in December. 23.
Funny, but I actually hope/pray that the referees are a non-factor in the game.
You and me both.  We've seen that a few too many times this year. :( It's sorta like getting smited on here just for being a Trojan fan...
 24.
I was reading the Orange Leader article.....There is a lot of talk about Gilbert.  Monroe's stats look to be pretty solid as well.
And both are very humble, down to earth great kids! That's always a plus. ;)
