  1. I don't see Ned A getting beat by anyone this year. Lumberton will give you a fight though. Any score on Ned v BH JV last night?
  2. I'm always worried until I get to relax after the we start dominating our opponent. I have been worried this week too much. I will be able to relax after midway through the 2nd quarter. By that time the Bulldogs would have had at least one possession going 3 and out and we would have kept the ball most of the game.
  3. I saw Ned Fresh A team yesterday. They looked very good, especially on offense. Does anyone know the results of Ned vs BH JV yesterday?
  4. Ned freshman B -0 BH Freshman white 6 Ned A  32 BH blue 13 Don't know about the JV yet
  5. PNG won the state championship in 1974. They played Sterling at Lamar in the quarterfinals. Did they play the semifinal game in the dome that year?
  6. BH freshman play @ ned today. Is there more than one stadium?
  7. I wonder if he ever suited up, huh?
  8. I don't have any idea how good the Nederland underclassmen are as well. No matter what happens, I will be taking home some BBQ crabs from Sartins so my youngster will have something really good to eat after playing in the game. I don't think they are going to feed the freshman on the way home. Sartins is what I really enjoy about Nederland!
  9. Good post from Razor. Nederland better score on every possession because BH is gonna keep the ball for entire quarters at a time. The only way Nederland wins is through the air. Maybe y'all refs will help some too. If Ned shuts down the BH running attack I'll eat my words next week.
  10. Barbers Hill runs a flexbone with a quarterback and often three running backs. It is old school with a few new wrinkles. We feel our advantage is using our good offensive lineman to push back the defense and get 4-6 yards a carry. On the other hand, Dayton uses a spread quite effectively. Each coach should evaluate his players and use the offense that suites his personnel to their greatest advantage.
  11. Do any of you Nederland fans have any stats on the running back Edwin Nelson? I think that is his name. Ran hurdles last spring. Is he a starter?
  12. Gotta go with PNG at home. A very slight edge. PNG 21 TC  20
  13. For PNGfan1. I have been wanting to beat y'all in football since the quarterfinals of 1974. Until we do y'all are still #1 in my book in 204A.
  14. The best thing that could happen for Barbers Hill would be to meet PNG in the playoffs. After we win we can put aside this talk of which district is best. Having said that to stir the ndn blood, I believe 204A has mo betta teams than 194A but our top 3 look pretty good so far. The Nederland game will tell all of us a lot.
  15. From what I can glean from the two teams Ned has played, we should not only be able to run on Ned but make long drives to the endzone.  This will be more of a test of our pass defense than our run offense.
  16. I hope everyone keeps thinking we don't have speed. That kind of thinking helps us out. Just because we don't have a spread attack doesn't mean we are slow. I think this will be a hard fought game and BH will be able to run on the Ned defense. We will have to control the ball and keep Ned. from scoring quick toughdowns via their air attack. Our secondary will have to step it up. I don't think Nederland will be able to run on us like they did on GCM though. I give Nederland the advantage of homefield and y'all will have hugh fan support as always. My pick is BH 21 Ned 17.
  17. I agree with you Mr. Blitz. I knew Lumberton woud be tough. They had a great blocking scheme on defense. It is a good thing they dropped some passes. Why are our corners alyways playing 10-12 yards off the split end? We are giving them the underneath easy 7-8 yd. gain. Dayton did the same thing to us last year. Are they so afraid of the deep route? We bit on the out and up route twice last night anyway. Luckily their quarterback  wasn't very accurate. Nederland will be a better passing team. Hats off to Lumberton. They played us tooth and nail in the 1st half and the game could have gone either way had they scored at the end of the 2nd qtr. BH has some work to do this week to prepare for Nederland.
  18. Nederland 21 GCM        14 GCM has a good linbacker up the middle in Zach Mendenhall, he is a beast. Watch out.
  19. It is really hard to guage how good we are yet until we play some more games. I do know we are better than last year and this is a really good group of seniors. Tonight will be a good test. Lumberton is going to play us hard. I don't see them rolling over or quitting. They are too well coached for that. However, unless everyone in 194A has gotten a lot better than last year I predict an 8-2 season. Maybe 9-1, not necessarily a loss to Dayton. Maybe a loss of concentration against a lesser team after we beat Dayton!
  20. BH Freshman A 8 Lumberton 31 BH Fresh B 19 Livingston  20 BH JV        22 Lumberton  6
  21. Times they are a changing. Make no mistake... We want PNG bad! If we would have had our quarterback last year things would have been different. Hope to see you in the playoffs. Then we will see.
  22. The new visitor stands are complete but the new concession is not. Visitors will use the main concessions we have always used. The auxillory field will have a concession as well but it is not completed either. There is a bunch of construction junk under the visitor stands which I hope will be moved by Friday. There could be some parking problems on the visitor side. The thing I do know is our football team is ready to kick some L-train a.. on our new field.
  23. This is my 1st post ya'll. I have been reading for a couple of years. Barbers Hill will probably not score the huge number of points ya'll are predicting against Lumberton. They are a ball control offense that eats up the clock and trys to keep the ball away from the other team. Our defense is stout this year and Lumberton won't  have much time with the ball. I predict 21-7 BH.
