Thats right!! The post player from Midland was a baseball player!! Didnt he get drafted out of high school that year? Is he still playing? Yeah, Silsbee had more than a few shots to win it all...Hope that window of opportunity is not getting smaller on them!

Good save, AggiesAreWe....I thought that Silsbee lost in the regional finals to Port Arthur Lincoln in 1995...That was a game for the ages!! I thought surely they (Silsbee) would get to The Drum in 98'...PA Lincoln got on a roll, but lost that year in the regional final to Houston Waltrip, who eventually won the Class 4A Championship...Great basketball in SE Texas back then too!

I totally agree, and thank you WOS Grad for doing so...it was not my intention when I started that thread for discussion...People should really consider others, particularly the kids, before they post sometimes...Thanks again.

Was really trying to leave all the personal stuff out of this....facts about reason for divorce really not relevant here...I did say in my original post that Coach English DID NOT recruit this kid....The question was about whether or not his dad was right for making his son return to Houston with him, although he wanted to live with his mother....

Oh yes it is 100% accurate..which is why I asked...thought it would be interesting to debate..

You guys had a potential 6'5" sophomore move in, that is the son of a Houston area coach....His dad, made him return to Houston after staying in Nederland all summer with his mother, and working out with the kids from Nederland...The kid REALLY wanted to stay in Nederland with his mother, which would have made him eligible to play varsity basketball for the Bulldogs..Yet his dad told him he would not sign the paperwork for him to transfer,told him he would not be eligible anyway, and THEN he accused Nederland coach Brian English of recruiting, which I know is not the case..I really feel for the kid....BUT is the dad REALLY wrong for making his son play for him in Houston? What do you think?
