  1. VJ is a great kid and player. He is a born leader and does a great job of it. I wish the best of luck to him and a very speedy recovery. Just remember VJ that it is better to take all the time that you need to heal correctly than to rush things and injury yourself in a way that would end your career.
  2. Last night when VJ Bunner was injured, it kinda took the wind out of their sails but that will happen when a leader of a team is taken out suddenly. I think they will regroup and it will be a tough game. Dayton may take this one but not by much. Does anyone know how Bunner is today? I heard his ankle may be fractured.
  3. The play was awesome by Spikes. When we saw the ball goin out of play we did not expect to see him go with it. Definitely a play that was not given up on.
  4. Jordan did alright. He struck out twice at the plate but was good defensively. He's gonna be just fine.
  5. Does anyone know how Beau Helmke is doin? I know he was injured and has not been active in the rotation.
  6. I have watched KT play and he is a legit player. He is fast on the bases and can track a ball with the best of them. He is definitely a player. I know stats can be misleading too but the fact remains that he is a player. These kids work hard for their 'props' and we should give it to them. If we are adults then we need to remember to act like it.
  7. Why was the Dayton - Ozen game postponed? I figured everyone had a dry enough place to play by now. Since it is on Monday, it is gonna bess with pitching for sure for the both of them.
  8. PN-G has a great shot at it. Let's see what happens with the dogs and the pirates tomorrow.
  9. There are a few names that should be on the list but they all can't be there. I believe that the predictions are just that..predictions. I believe that there are gonna be lots of surprise names that show up as the season goes on. There have already been some surprises so far. I wonder if the choices that were made back then are still what they are sticking with.
  10. I pick the Bears. They have the chapped bottom from losing to PNG tonite and want to win big.
  11. Wow!!!! That is definitely something that most of us weren't expecting to hear. Who pitched after Richard? Didn't get to go to that game. I wonder who Nederland is pitching tomorrow against Vidor. I would love to go to that game too.
  12. This game was a barn burner for 7 innings. The Indians held on for the win. LCM, as always, can and will swing the bat. Flores was on fire tonite and Harrington closed the door. Bats are getting hotter for them too.
  13. nevermind, I thought it had been moved but wasn't sure but found out that it was. ;D
  14. Did LCM play Central last night or was it changed to Saturday?
  15. It's gonna be a good battle as this season goes on. There are alot of young teams that are just now beginning to gel together. Some teams have not quite woken up yet. It is gonna get good but I still think that PNG, Nederland, and LCM are gonna be the ones to battle it out.
  16. Ya know, I happen to go to see Ozen play the other day against PNG. I think they have lots of talent and wanted to see if they could execute. PNG definitely got the best of them that day but something seemed to be missing from the Panthers. There seemed to be little, if any, drive or excitement. If Ozen don't step it up then it could be a long season and they are better than that. I pick Dayton by a small margin.
  17. Have the coaches called with confirmation of where the game is gonna be played? It is gonna be a good one and there are lots of folks waiting to see it.
  18. Just wondering if any of you have any changes in what you think the All District Teams may stack up to look like now that we have been able to see some of the teams and players go after it.
  19. LCM is a little younger team than PNG but they both have to keep errors to a minimum. If PNG plays like they have been playing lately then I think PNG may take this one.
  20. Well, I have had the experience of having both of my son's play with wood and metal. I have seen them get hit by a ball from both too. I can definitely tell you that the injury from the metal bats were much more brutal than the wood. The reaction time that the player has off a wood bat is more than off a metal bat. I also think that the game is 'equalized' by a wood bat. The minors and pros use wood and the sooner kids that want to play at that level start using wood the better. I agree that there should be changes from the top down. The only thing I would hope that it would not change too much would be pitching styles too. Pitchers have to use alot more movement and placement to pitch to metal than wood too. I have seen that first hand too. But if the kids used wood earlier then the hitting would be just as good as if with metal as the adjustment was made. My humble opinion only.
  21. I tell ya, the Harrington kid did throw a good game. It seemed that he got stronger as the night went on. His breaking pitches were dirtier late in the game than in the first also. The BH squad definitely swings the bat and any pitcher in the game with them better keep the ball down or a hurtin' will happen. The BH Eagles have always been a team to be respected and this year is no different. They also have some good pitching to go with the bats. I have to give it to the Indians tho, they are really underestimated and when they finally gel together then they will be really good. They have played mostly 5A squads in preseason to get them ready for district and hopefully this will do it. The injured Shawn Flores is missed and can't wait for him to be back in action too. Good job Indians!!
  22. At home or the group that played in Jasper yesterday?
  23. Png, Jasper and Westbrook had a three way game play yesterday in Jasper. Since they were scrimmages and the teams pitched and played players that may or may not be permanent, the games were interesting. The teams have not had luxery of the use of the fields so this was one of a couple of outtings on the field. They did pretty good. They all can use some work. We definitely need to keep the sunshine coming.
  24. What about players like Ford, Webber, Long Stutes and Harrington? Ryan Robertson? There are quite a few that still need to be named.
