1.
the two strikes he hit against the US in the federations cup made me sick to my stomach.  it would sure be nice to have another player who is able to score from outside of the 18.
thanks for reminding me of that...i just threw up in my mouth!
 2. heck yes he would have made the squad!!!  and I still feel if Bruce Arena would have given him a little attention it would have made his decision a little tougher on which country to play for...after all he wore the US jersey on the U-17 squad...but his family roots are STRONG italian...let me go back to the original comment, he (as Bon stated) would have been an absolute lock for the starting 11...
 3. if he plays against Australia on Saturday Bradley will become the Dumbest Coach alive!
 4. IRENE, South Africa -- U.S. forward Jozy Altidore has sprained an ankle during a training drill and is day to day. Altidore hurt his right ankle during a workout on a shortened field Wednesday, U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman Neil Buethe said. Altidore was taken to a hospital for X-rays and was diagnosed with a mild sprain. "It's nothing more than that," Buethe said Thursday. "He'll undergo a fitness test tomorrow to determine whether he can play Saturday." The U.S. faces Australia on Saturday in Roodepoort in the final exhibition for both teams ahead of the World Cup. The Americans open against England on June 12.
 5. ROME -- American-born forward Giuseppe Rossi and AC Milan striker Marco Borriello have been dropped from Italy's World Cup team. Coach Marcello Lippi also sent home goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu, defender Mattia Cassani and midfielder Andrea Cossu upon announcing his final 23-man team Tuesday. Midfielder Mauro Camoranesi remained in the squad despite injuring his left knee during training Tuesday. Team physician Enrico Castellacci said Tuesday that tests revealed no tears in Camoranesi's meniscus, adding that "he should be back in a few days. ... We're hoping to get him back for the first game against Paraguay." Italy opens the World Cup against Paraguay on June 14. Camoranesi will likely miss friendlies this week against Mexico and Switzerland. Nine players remain from the team that won the World Cup four years ago in Germany: Gianluigi Buffon, Fabio Cannavaro, Gianluca Zambrotta, Camoranesi, Daniele De Rossi, Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Alberto Gilardino and Vincenzo Iaquinta. Fabio Grosso, the left back who converted the decisive penalty kick in the final against France four years ago, had already been cut two weeks ago after being named to the preliminary 30-man squad. Lippi never even considered picking Antonio Cassano, the talented but temperamental Sampdoria forward, or Mario Balotelli, the controversial 18-year-old Inter Milan striker. Italy has been training in Sestriere at 2,035 meters (6,670 feet) since May 23 and will depart for South Africa on June 8. The roster: Goalkeepers: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus), Morgan De Sanctis (Napoli), Federico Marchetti (Cagliari). Defenders: Salvatore Bocchetti (Genoa), Leonardo Bonucci (Bari), Fabio Cannavaro (Juventus), Giorgio Chiellini (Juventus), Domenico Criscito (Genoa), Christian Maggio (Napoli), Gianluca Zambrotta (AC Milan). Midfielders: Mauro Camoranesi (Juventus), Daniele De Rossi (AS Roma), Gennaro Gattuso (AC Milan), Claudio Marchisio (Juventus), Riccardo Montolivo (Fiorentina), Angelo Palombo (Sampdoria), Simone Pepe (Udinese), Andrea Pirlo (AC Milan). Forwards: Antonio Di Natale (Udinese), Alberto Gilardino (Fiorentina), Vincenzo Iaquinta (Juventus), Giampaolo Pazzini (Sampdoria), Fabio Quagliarella (Napoli).

While he hasn't been the one to score the goals, he is always the one to set them up... Every player has gone on record saying they love to play with him because he is so unselfish...
to each his own.  i respect your opinion, even if i disagree.  Bradley must feel like i do, or he would have taken him over two guys with basically no national team experience, and only one game to watch them.  it's also possible that ching's injury had something to do with it.  who knows.
well that settles it...as long as the US Men's National Team Coach agrees with you... :D sorry Austin he has you on that one ;)
 7. U.S. roster: Goalkeepers: Brad Guzan, Marcus Hahnemann, Tim Howard. Defenders: Carlos Bocanegra, Jonathan Bornstein, Steve Cherundolo, Jay DeMerit, Clarence Goodson, Oguchi Onyewu, Jonathan Spector. Midfielders: DaMarcus Beasley, Michael Bradley, Ricardo Clark, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan, Maurice Edu, Benny Feilhaber, Stuart Holden, Jose Francisco Torres. Forwards: Jozy Altidore, Edson Buddle, Robbie Findley, Herculez Gomez.
 8. FRANKFURT -- Germany captain Michael Ballack will miss the World Cup because of a right ankle injury, dealing the three-time champions a serious blow less than a month before the tournament. The German soccer federation said Monday that the 33-year-old Chelsea midfielder had torn ligaments in his right ankle from a tackle during his club's 1-0 FA Cup final victory over Portsmouth on Saturday. Ballack's ankle has been put in a cast and the federation said he won't be able to train for at least eight weeks. "It's very disappointing, but I have to accept it," Ballack told German television, standing with crutches. "It's football and you have to live with it. ... I am angry, clearly." Ballack's absence leaves Germany coach Joachim Loew without his most experienced player and leader in a squad with many young players. The injury probably costs Ballack another chance to win the World Cup title after reaching the 2002 final and the 2006 semifinals. "We are shocked, no question about it, and we are all very, very sad," Loew said at the team's training camp in Sicily. "He is a very important player for us, a world class player who played a very important role in decisive games for us. "There can be no question of resignation now. We are sure we can still play a good tournament." Loew will now have to pick a new captain and find someone to fill the defensive midfield role played by Ballack, Germany's three-time player of the year. Despite his long and distinguished service, Ballack has been unable to win a title with Germany. He played a total of 63 minutes in his first major tournament, the 2000 European Championship. Two years later in Japan and South Korea, his goals against the United States and South Korea helped Germany reach the final. But he missed the final loss to Brazil after receiving a yellow card in the semifinals. The 2004 European championship was another disappointment, with Germany eliminated after the group stage. Juergen Klinsmann then took over as coach and selected Ballack as his captain. Ballack missed the opening match of the 2006 World Cup in Germany because of a calf injury and didn't score in the tournament. He had two ankle operations before Euro 2008 but injured a calf before the final. Ballack played the match but Germany lost to Spain. Ballack flew to Germany late Sunday to be examined by national team and Bayern Munich doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt on Monday. Ballack's ankle was still too swollen Sunday for a previously scheduled scan in London. The federation said he should make a full recovery. Ballack, who has made 98 appearances for Germany and scored 42 goals, was injured Saturday after a tackle by Kevin-Prince Boateng, previously a Bundesliga player who is the half brother of Germany defender Jerome Boateng. Kevin-Prince Boateng has chosen to play for Ghana, the country of his father and one of Germany's World Cup opponents. Loew called the tackle "brutal," and Ballack said the foul might have been intentional. Ballack and Boateng were involved in a scuffle shortly before the foul. "I have seen it on TV and to say it was not on purpose means you have to be a friend of Boateng," Ballack said after the final at Wembley. "Boateng was lucky to get away with a yellow, but it is football and if the referee controls the game and decides it is no red card you have to accept it." Boateng was born and raised in Berlin and played for several Germany youth selections, including the under-21 team. From Hertha Berlin, he moved to Tottenham, then went on loan to Borussia Dortmund before joining Portsmouth. Germany's incomplete squad has been in Sicily since Friday. Seven players from Bayern Munich will join only after Saturday's Champions League final against Inter Milan. Germany opens its World Cup campaign against Australia and then plays Serbia and Ghana in Group D.

 10. This was an article written by Paul Kennedy on SoccerAmerica.com The USA qualified for the 2010 World Cup with a thrilling 3-2 win over Honduras, arguably its biggest away victory since its 1-0 win at Trinidad & Tobago qualified it for the 1990 World Cup 20 years earlier. But the World Cup selection process can often be cruel as Conor Casey and Charlie Davies, the two stars up front that memorable night in San Pedro Sula, found out on Tuesday when they got the news that they won't be going to South Africa. Casey's two goals -- the first set up when Davies flicked a ball on to him in the penalty area -- against Honduras are the only two goals he's scored in his 20 games for the USA, and he lost out to at least three forwards who did not take part in qualifying -- Robbie Findley, Edson Buddle and Herculez Gomez. Casey was preferred to Jozy Altidore for the crucial game against the Catrachos, but it's Altidore who's the only sure bet among six strikers on Coach Bob Bradley's short list. Injured three nights later in a car accident that took the life of another passenger, Davies lost a race against the clock to recover in time for the World Cup. Like Oguchi Onyewu, who injured his knee the day after Davies' accident, Davies has not played since October. Davies returned to France's Sochaux and hoped to play again before the end of the Ligue 1 season, but Bradley said on Tuesday Sochaux would not issue a medical clearance for him to join the U.S. training camp. As for Onyewu, he made the AC Milan traveling squad for its game at Genoa on Sunday. "He didn’t make the 18-man squad," said Bradley, "but I think that shows he continues to make progress." Bradley had few surprises in Tuesday's announcement except to say that he would be bringing all 30 players to camp in Princeton, N.J., where field sessions begin on Monday. Of note: -- Bradley took 21 foreign-based players and nine MLS players. -- It's a relatively young team with 15 players 25 or younger on June 12 when the USA opens against England. Only five of the 30 players are 30 or older. -- Only seven players have played in the World Cup. DaMarcus Beasley and Landon Donovan have played in two. -- Davies and Casey were two of only six players from the U.S. team that finished second at the 2009 Confederations Cup who did not make the list of 30 players. -- The most notable absentee, of course, is Freddy Adu, whose stock has fallen so low that his exclusion from Tuesday's list hardly received any mention. U.S. 30-PLAYER LIST: (Age) GOALKEEPERS (3): 25 Brad Guzan (Aston Villa) 37 Marcus Hahnemann (Wolves) 31 Tim Howard (Everton) (Age) DEFENDERS (9): 25 Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA) 31 *Carlos Bocanegra (Rennes) 31 *Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96) 30 Jay DeMerit (Watford) 28 Clarence Goodson (IK Start) 25 Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew) 28 *Oguchi Onyewu (AC Milan) 25 Heath Pearce (FC Dallas) 24 Jonathan Spector (West Ham United) (Age) MIDFIELDERS (12): 28 **DaMarcus Beasley (Rangers) 23 Alejandro Bedoya (Orebro) 22 Michael Bradley (Bor.
