  1. weather looks like its going to be a problem...coaches have decided to keep the game on Tuesday and hope for the best...
  2. completely agree...I also thought the boot to the face was worth more than a yellow... this was on espn ..."Wake Forest had a key defensive injury of its own. Senior Julian Valentin was kicked in the head late in the second half, and blood poured out of his face while he received medical attention on the sideline. Valentin took 30 stitches after the game to close cuts to the bridge of his nose, cheek and brow, but he had no complaints." [Hidden Content]
  3. Hmmm that sounds very familiar...hold on... yes dear I heard you... ummmm I have to go now...
  4. LCM would like to thank Bon_Mot's much better half with a great idea for this time of year (if it was your idea Bon, im going to give her the credit anyway). ;D
  5. What a game!!! My only problem is the mentioning that this would be the first time either team would win the NCAA Div 1 Championship every two minutes. Yes it was sloppy at times (the wind factor was huge) but it was exciting to the very end.
  6. I got to watch the entire game last night...now im even more dissapointed. Shark you are spot on in regards to the foul. The US where on their heals from the opening whistle...and even though I knew the final score, I kept thinking Brazil is going to score again. Im still scratching my head in regards to the talent level that we sent. Bon_Mot I believe made this same comment in regards to the mens side..."is the best we can produce in this country."
  7. 4-0 Brazil.... You have got to be kidding me. Ryan changing keepers in a semifinal. A lazy own goal. The worst ad campaign in the history of advertising. The worst red card I have ever seen and that was just the first half. Im glad that I was not able to watch the rest of this one
  8. Bon_Mot I wish you and shark had not even responded to this post. This thread serves no purpose, but to stir up anti-Ned posters...every school has skeletons in their closets. If someone wants to get me fired up about Nederland here is the way to do it. 2003 season-Bon_Mot's and my first district meeting at our place. We go on top 1 nothing (this turns out to be the only district goal scored on Nederland all year, i think?) Nederland ties it back up and we go to a shoot out. Nederland has the advantage over us and we fall short of what clearly would have been a MAJOR upset. Bon_Mot and his team were excited with the win and they handled it with class. I still have nightmares about that one...and that is why I love to hate Nederland.
  9. you might recall reading on here about a young man from LCM that had brain surgery during this past season... well the tumor came back and is malignant... Jordan Brooks will be heading back to Houston at the end of the week to begin chemo on monday. I am asking for the south east texas soccer family to keep Jordan in your prayers. This young man will be turning 16 in a few weeks and life is pretty scary right now. Coach Wedel Bear Soccer
  10. "touch of a bow-legged hippo" that is an intant classic!!! I agree with you completely on the striker issue...you would think that in this great country of ours surely we could turn over some rocks and find some feet to put the ball in the back of the net...
  11. shark... I agree with you about practice!!! 110%!!! but im talking about down time---"on their own time"
  12. Man it is so rough being a Newcastle fan.... As of right now I am no longer a Newcastle fan... GO LIVERPOOL!!!
  13. I have heard at clinics or read in books...top coaches have stated and will continue to state..."The best teacher of the game, is the game" play any chance you get, play one v one for bragging rights if all you can find is one other person, touch the ball everyday, watch games on tv, help coach a youth team, etc etc Oldsader is right "Always try to play those bigger, faster, stronger and better than you" Play for the love of the game not the score of the game
  14. I was not at the Central/Lumberton game so I can not and will not comment about Brent's play that night... However I have been at three other games and watched him. Brent is a great player and knows the game well. He can turn and face multiple defenders, he has great vision on when to release the ball and when to hold or attack with the ball. He uses his speed with finesse to fool players into stabbing and rushing in...his passing and crossing abilities are a thing of beauty... Yes he is still and high school player and will make mistakes; however, he (in my opinion) is only going to get better which is scary. Now as far as the comment about this just being SETX soccer...that is insult to every player, coach, trainer, select team etc. etc. (once again just my opinion) 2006 Champions Boys 5A State Champion: Brownsville Porter Boys 4A State Champion: Boerne Girls 5A State Champion: Katy Taylor Girls 4A State Champion: McKinney North 2005 Champions Boys 5A State Champion: Klein Boys 4A State Champion: El Paso Del Valle Girls 5A State Champion: Lewisville Marcus Girls 4A State Champion: McKinney Looks like to me good soccer can be found all over Texas
  15. Bon_Mot is right... LCM has been chasing those programs for a long time. When I first came to this area all I heard about was Nederland, PNG, LCM in that order. Sorry Lumberton, you were not in the district when I first came. But I also think that Lumberton should be regarded as one of the top three programs (4a/3a) in south east texas.
  16. Bon_Mot (and yes there is only one) It was a classic game last night. And yes to all of Nederland's many fans congrats on the win. IT WAS FITTING THAT WASHBURN SCORED he earned it! As for, long balls to players isnt possesion, I would tend to disagree. If the long ball is played to a teammate and play continues...yes there were times when LCM got sloppy but I promise you LCM had there chances not because of lucky bounces, but because of understanding that on the ground Nederland is a very solid team, LCM wanted to and succeeded in getting the ball up to Driver (who by the way is a first year player). Take the hard fought win with pride Nederland fans, but dont be afraid to give some credit back to a team that shut you out for 98 min... and to Bon-Mot I agree with my Manchester United friend---i also think you may be one of mine and there is nothing worse than a teammate who is part of one team and talks like he is part of another...
  17. im positive that nederland did not dominate time of possession...
  18. some players and coaches would say anything less than playoffs is disappointing... I know LCM would love to have PNG's record right now... i think a better word for me would be frustrating, LCM has been blown out of two games--Kelly in the tourney and Lumberton in district--...I know my opinion is biased, but I do think that the rest of the games we have lost have been VERY close. I guess you could put Central up in the blow out category but i think it fits somewhere in between. I think LCM is a good team, just something isn’t right. Yes, it might very well be coaching, it could be lack of effort or lack of heart etc. etc. but I know for a fact that Wedel is not disappointed in his boys. Both coach and players are just trying desperately to get over the hump...
  19. I have seen both up close and personnel. Lumberton will win. They will own the middle third. They have a few (just a few) chinks in their defending third so Central will not be shut out...but when Lumberton gets rolling they are SCARY. Lumberton 5 Central 1
  20. PNGjvStriker09 thank you once again for your concern about our player. Coach Sandell was right in telling you that things like that are going to happen. Right after the game was called you came to me and tried to apologize and I told you the same thing that Coach Sandell told you. There is not a single player over here in Bear country that thinks anything else than what both coaches have told you. Keep playing hard...
  21. There is only one Bon_Mot...thank goodness!!!
  22. who were the refs at the Vidor/central game last night?
  23. well said Bon_Mot I know its going to sound cheesy but i am the parent of 12, 5, and 3 year old and just like their mother and I tell them "just ignore them and they will stop"
