3.
What is the collateral effects of the Houston ISD and some Dallas area schools choosing not to "opt up" this year to stay in 4A? It would seem to me that if an effort is made to equalize the raw numbers in each classification, the addition of a number of new 3A schools would cause the 4A-5A cutoff number to rise to grab a few more 4A's, the 4A-3A number to fall some, and the 2A-3A cutoff number to also rise a bit to push some smaller 3A's back into 2A. Opinions?
I don't know that they will have to raise the number for the 4A-5A cutoff all that much.  Remember the lost in the 4A to 3A news is that Houston ISD has a few teams that will be dropping to 4A from 5A.  This coupled with a few Fort Bend ISD teams (Willowridge being among them) that did not opt up and could be dropping down to 4A will in some form make up for the teams dropping to 3A.  So numbers wise, I don't know we will see the UIL deviate from past trends.

 18.
If these schools are dropping down due to actual attendance numbers being 3A now, and if they are not doing any funny business with transfers, then why should any current 3A powers (WOS, Silsbee, etc in football) (HJ, Silsbee, etc in basketball) be concerned?  Numbers are numbers; talent is talent; good coaching is good coaching right? Or is there something else I'm missing?
Well, I haven't seen any of those who support any of the schools named above, either in football or in basketball, express any concern about their potential new region mates.

 22.
Just because LaMarque turned in 3-A #'s they dont have to drop to 3-A. They can stay 4-A. Someone else would have to verify, but I think thats what happened last year.. Their #'s were only 3-A but chose to stay 4-A.
La Marque did not opt up this time around.  The opt up decision of the various schools was released earlier this week.  They will be in 3A.
