  3. Have seen this the last few years from Ned side. BC head coach always been solid coach & keeps his team in games from start to finish.
  4. If you are Head coach. Have Coach Stone & Coach Green as your top 2 asst. to get input from, you should never be out coached in any aspect of a baseball game.
  5. FACTS
  6. Facts, no matter what decade high school baseball was played in.
  7. My Bad. I guess that good heartedness & Mike Leach smart on a resume would sway PNG hiring committee to give him a shot, despite the 8-42 record. 😀
  8. Mr. Satcher won 8 games in 5 years, similar to Butch Troy's record winning 12 games in 5 years at png. No png resident wants to take a chance of going thru those coaching days again. IMO if you let a guy with Faircloth's resume/record go, a coach with a better resume/record should be the goal. If not then it was 100% a political move by Administrators & board members.
  9. Is he friends with the super. &/or school board members?
  10. Ex png player?
  11. Send him to the track coach, IMO no more basketball if that is how he acted in a big game & after.
  12. What was the case against Ferguson?
  13. What put Hickman the clear choice over the others in your opinion?
  14. Based on pngisd actions with Faircloth after his 102-51 record, district titles & 12 out of 13 years of playoff runs, I would assume only head coach applicants with a similar record &/or state championship as a head coach at previous school would be in the running for the gig? After all as some believe you should fire a head coach if he cant win a state title in 7 years at a school, then why would you hire a coach who has not won a state title at another school in 7 years?
  15. Here is some head coaches in the long list of top Texas high school coaches who took longer then 7 to 10 years to win a state championship. Mike Johnston-Katy Curtis Barbay-Newton Bob McQueen-Temple Tom Kimbrough-Plano T.J. Mills-Sealy Bob Ledbetter-Southlake Carroll Todd Dodge Luther Booker-Yates Art Briles John Outlaw-Lufkin G.A. Moore-Pilot Point/Celina Ron Mills-Bay City Joe Clements-Huntsville David Aymond-North Shore Gary Gaines- Odessa Permian Joey Florence-Denton Ryan Bryan Erwin-La Marque John King-Longview Bill Smith-Aldine Steve Shaver-Beaumont French Ross Rogers-A&M Consolidated Terry Gambill-Allen Lee Fedora-Navasota Jake Fieszel-Gunter Rusty Dowling-Texas City Hal Wasson John Parchman-Midland Lee Ed Putejovsky-Cy Fair Ron Poe-Mckinney Gene McCollum-PNG Joe Martin-Garland
  16. Tough & painful losses for sure, to some very strong teams. Smith had some good teams & made some nice playoff runs.
  17. Best of luck to Mr. Hickman & his staff. Keep the Mustang winning tradition going. The lone finalist. His resume & interview must have been very impressive compared to other applicants
  18. Smith has done an overall good job & had some nice playoff runs, getting knocked out of playoffs by eventual state champion powerhouse Carthage 3 times 2016: 2nd in district- Bi-District Finalist- Lost 34-30 to Carthage in 1st rd. 2017: 1st in district- Regional Finalist- Lost to Carthage 64-36 in 3rd rd. 2018: 2nd in district- State Semifinalist- Lost to Cuero 29-24 in 5th rd. 2019: 2nd in district- State Semifinalist- Lost to Wimberly 56-43 in 5th rd. 2020: 2nd in district- Area Finalist- Lost to Carthage 49-0 in 2nd rd. 2021: 4th in district- Bi-District Finalist- Lost to Sealy 21-19 in 1st rd.
  19. Head Coach Randy Smith 6 years @ Silsbee 44-29 record. 2016- 6-5 2017- 7-5 2018- 10-5 2019- 9-5 2020- 7-4 2021- 5-5
  20. Is this take your retirement payments as coach\teacher in Texas, Get a job in Louisiana coaching\working still earning money move? I like it.
  21. If any QB candidate steps up, is as athletic & plays as well as R. Cunningham did his senior year moving from WR to QB then Nederland will be pushing PNG's 17 returners for the district title.
  22. I'm assuming you have seen the QB candidates run Nederland offense &\or in Fall\Spring practice? What are their strengths? Passing, running, RPO guys, Pocket passing?
  23. The new district will not be as strong overall not having Crosby, BH & TC imo. Montgomery is a solid team the others you mentioned are at best average. With PNG returning 17 starters & Faircloth they should be the favorite to win district. If Nederland coaches find a QB, RB & a few newcomers to step up on o-line & defense as playmakers they should be able to grab one of the playoff spots in this district. Should be very interesting how teams adjust with all the new teams & the travel.
  24. Caywood is good, but will need help. Losing very good players on Defense like Beck, Kotz, Lopez, Fuselier, Stoker, Bougeois & Replacing with inexperienced players is always a tough task for any team. I believe 3 starters return at WR, that should be a strength. Biggest question mark imo is at QB & OL. Neither QB mentioned has varsity starting exp. at the 5A level. Either QB will have to step up & learn under fire in a tough new district. Nederland coaching staff is known for finding the right players to put in starting positions & putting a competitive team on the field.
