this is all true. Pitching has been on/off most of the season but the offense has been there all season.

I understand Bigdog and it wasnt a dis. My point is that every season in what it seems like forever Nederland has had that recognized guy on offense going into the season and this year they dont.

This will be the first time in many years that Nederland doesnt have an offensive standout stud (Mosely, Butler, Yoder, Cammack, Askew, etc) player going into the season. They've always had that one superstar guy going into each season for it seems like forever. It will be interesting to see who steps up this season.

Im a homer but: 1. Dayton 2. PNG 3. Nederland/Central/LCM PNG is going to be better than expected next season. Lots of skill position players returning. If they get any O-Line help they'll be strong. If Nederlands streak ever ends, it would have to be this season because they have a ton coming up 2 years from now. I still expect them to be good. Havent read enough on Central/Ozen/LCM/Lumberton/Vidor to make an accurate judgement yet....

u may get some smaller schools that decide to play a playoff game in the triangle. We had Newon one year at the Rez. With the updated coming you may see some of this in the future.

A. Elam, PNGProud, etc, I know the bond passed and the major construction on the stadium isnt suppost to be ready until the 2008 season, but have you heard anything about when they will install the turf? Is there any talk of getting started on it in time for maybe this season? Just Curious

This is true. The Nederland game will always be the biggest for them, but after the debacle last season you can bet if they get off to a decent start will have the LC-M game circled on their schedule.

PNG also passed a bond that will add field turf to the Rez!!

what is PAM's enrollment? They could be close to the 4A/5A cuttoff. That would be interesting to add them to the 20-4A mix, not to mention better for their fans. Old rivalries with PNG and Nederland could be reniewed, and Central & Ozen vs Memorial would produce some classic matchups. Id welcome Port Arthur back!!

the first step in regaining the glory of PNG's past is for the community to vot YES and pass the school bond issue in May. The plans for the stadium alone are extraordinary (field turf, 3 level press box, etc etc) but the mood of the entire district from elementary school and up is way down from what it was in the past. Upgrades to the districts facilities and equipment would go a long way to change the entire attitude within the district. People would be excited about being at PNG again. Second step is getting a HC that will allow his assistants to coach. Burnett is a hell of a motivator and defensive guy, a good figurehead and representative of PNG but, expecially since Long left, his hands are all over the boring offensive trend the team has developed. The team had the talent last year to do more offensively than it did. He even jumped in and changed coach Fischers defense scheme after the LCM debacle. I'm not one of the ones screaming for him to retire, but if hes the HC he needs to hire a good young offensive mind to run the offense and LET HIM COACH. Dont scrap his system after a couple of bad weeks. If he cant do that then he needs to go. Overall as long as we are in 4A with our numbers we should be competitive. Hopefully with the talent coming back at the skill positions it will come this season....
