  5. She is running cross country this fall right!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is now a multi sport athlete!
  6. 11 years in the bizz and 8 as a head softball coach is old and real old for one school! Not too many out there in this area thats been at it this long in the same location....
  7. Softball is one of the only sports you dont have to be 6' tall to be looked at tp get a scholarship! Volleyball and Basketball you have to be tall to even be looked at! There is a few exceptions but even some of the great players around this area that are tall aren't tall enough!!!! Cant teach a 5'4" player to be 6'2"...
  8. Ok here is my two cents as an old high school coach... If you attend a smaller school you are more likley to play more than one sport. Just out of the number of athletes if you are a good one you will be pulled to play as many as you can! In larger schools you see more single sport athletes. I think in high school if you can do more than one great it makes you a more well rounded person. Who or what suffers is the ? (school, sports, or the kid) If you are a great athlete then maybe not. Look at some of the great baseball players (Chipper Jones, Craig Biggio, are two that came of the top of my head) Both had big time football progams wanting them to come play for them and they went baseball! Just because you have dreams to play College softball doesnt = scholarship!!!!!!!!!!! Playing for a gold team that puts itself in the big mix willl help but you still have to think of educational needs (sometimes JR College is not what is needed)... If you have ever meet me and talked to me I am all about playing ball. If you do play travel ball and another sport than you have to have understanding coaches and teammates on BOTH ENDS! In closing the Experiences and relationships are what helps mold them into adults. Enjoy them now because soon they will be in College!!!
  9. Its good to have the other side of the point made every now and then. Ty is a good guy and has made some good points. Just because some people dont agree with what he has to say doesnt mean that you have to take it personal!
  10. Why is the softball program underachieving IYO? Is it no money? Coaching? lack of talent (cant make chicken salad)?
  11. This is a bunch of good kids that love to play the game! I got to watch them practice a liitle bit on thursday they work their butts off to be good.... Good job Coach T and Staff (DRV you the man)!!!!
  12. WOW!!!!!!!!! I saw crosby play early this season (very impressed) and we scrumed Huffman (very impressed)... Coach you are doing a great job with your group of young ladies... Keep it up and good luck! Just think Falcons made this jump to 4a look easy!!!!! Glad you guys aren't in 3a anymore ;D ;D
  13. Lumberton doesnt have much industry to start with... I would like to see a poll on how many people that live in Lumberton actually work there. They are still building like crazy in Lumberton and they are building more behind walmart... Westwood still hasnt finished yet..
  14. I would think that the Orange/Midcounty area schools would be growing with the new plants being built! I know in Silsbee there is not many houses for sale or rent so I dont see them growing anytime soon.
  15. I root for the Mustangs for every game unless they are playing Silsbee. Bottom line the Mustangs most play great "D" against the small ball. Hitting will be slow for each team I think it will be a low scoring game!
  16. Thought you guys would like to know the facts. In the past it is usually a one game deal but you never know with UIL.... Section 55: REPORT OF VIOLATION A superintendent, principal, school administrator, teacher, coach, or sponsor may report an alleged violation of the Constitution and/or Contest Rules by his or her school or school district. The report must be in writing and filed with the district executive committee or the State Executive Committee, whichever is appropriate, within a reasonable time. The committee shall determine on a case-by-case basis what is a reasonable period of time, however, there is no time limit to protest eligibility or any other rule which imposes mandatory penalties.
