4. I believe we have an All SETX team for almost every sport. We do not have a soccer team however. I saw where people were saying that the supergold team was misinformed, so lets vote on an all SETXsports team. We'll make the requirements to be voted on that you must have made 1st team all district or superlatives. I have not seen all district for the 5A teams (WB and PAM) or Kelly. If someone could post these that would help alot and then I will post a topic for everyone to vote on and we'll see how it turns out. Boys and Girls
 5. Lumbertonfan was refering to the Girls team. Everyone knows that the Central Guys beat Lumberton, they came to play and won deservedly. Was a good game on both sides, Lumberton couldn't finish some of their opportunities. The Central Goals were very nice i thought. The header put back from about 12-15 yards out was beautiful. And the 60 or so yard free kick that took a good bounce off of a Lumberton player was taken as well as it could have been. The player that took that kick has a leg on him.
 6.
Because the Beaumont Enterprise does not consistently report area soccer results, I would like to know where the stats were obtained to select the members of the super gold team.  Unless someone met with every coach in the area, I do not see how this was done.  Also, soccer coaches are not required to report individual statistics.  While you can state a player's personal stats and acknowledge that he or she has done or not done an outstanding job, you are limited as to who you can compare them with; maybe TASCO has a data base?   I would like to see stats for minutes played, number of shots taken, shots, assist, steals, ect.
I believe most coaches keep track of at least goals and assists for field players.. saves and Goals Allowed for keepers. I believe in district 37 at least that they report these stats to Coach L at Lumberton and this is used for all district selection. Perhaps the Enterprise contacted the coach of each district that keeps the stats. Not sure if this is the case, but seems like the best way they could have come by these selections.
 7.
What is a Utility player?
Player that played several different positions well.. A player that played wherever their team needed them at the time...

 11. Not trying to take anything away from anyone on the girls all district, but i just happened to notice that Every goalie in the district is on that list... GK of the Year.. 3 1st teams and 3 2nd teams...
 12. I think this PNG-Brenham game should be a good one.. Brenham only beat Central 3-0 and one of those came in the last few minutes.. what were the scores when PNG and Central played in district?
 13. For HJ i think it would be 1998 State Quarter Finalists (Not sure what year) but from what i hear they had a loaded team and were expected to make a deep run, but got realigned into 4A and ended up doing terrible Side note - 2008 playoff team IMO was one of the best in a while, first year since 2005 we made playoffs and stuck with some teams 2009 missed playoffs by one game, first time HJ had ever lead WOS 7-0 in first quarter final was 19-10 i believe.. This year although we didnt make playoffs we definatly played the Powerhouse teams in our district alot closer I think the HJ program is definately going in the right direction.. I think next year might be a re-building season after losing 10 starters on defense and 6 on offense, but after that i'd look for HJ to be a playoff team again
 14.

Does anyone care about a district title really. heck they let everyone in the playoffs now. I just witnessed another Silsbee state championship leave the building. Great job coaches way to play Defense with 2 minutes to go instead of letting them score and having at least a chance to score and tie it up. Once again out coached!!!!!!!!
Love it when people who have no knowledge of basketball bash some of the best coaches in the state...congrats your a joke
I agree.. IMO Silsbee and HJ are two of the best coached basketball programs in the state every year.. Sutherland and Coach Travis know what they are doing.. Dallas Madison and Estacado are some great basketball teams, both of them made it to the state championship game 2 years in a row.. that is a serious accomplishment, but the fact that it has come down to HJ/Silsbee in the regional final 3 out of the last 4 years (correct me if im wrong on that) is amazing.. On the silsbee winning district again.. idk, gonna be a dogfight again this year IMO.. Losing JJ, a serious dual threat QB, will be a major loss and they will have to do something to make up for that, but i believe they have the athletes to give WOS a run for their money again.. I also would not be totally suprised if there was another team in the running for it this upcoming season
 15. this may just be me, but every year i hear "this year the WOS team will be dominant", and while they do always have a very competitive/dominant team in the area and tend to run over most teams in the area they always hit a wall in playoffs.. Gilmer, Waco LaVega, Giddings - teams like these dont care if you ran over HF, Bridge City, Orangefield, HJ, etc. so while i'll agree WOS is always one of the best teams in the area i dont see them as a major force in the entire state I hope they prove me wrong though because i'd love to see a local team bring a state title back to the area very soon
 16. I agree HF has come along way.. especially for a first year varsity team to make it 2 rounds deep in the playoffs is a major accomplishment.. weither they would beat Lumberton if they played again im not sure, but we'll never know
 17.
Why is it so hard to believe that 80 coaches would apply for this job.  Up until recently, HF has always put a competitive team on the field. They may not have won but have been competitive until the last few years.  The right guy can turn the program around.  You've got to get all of the ends tied together to be successfull.  It is not going to be easy but it can be done.
I agree, this is an opportunity for a coach to get some great recognition for turning the HF program around and bringing them back to what they used to be
 18. IMO.. Dayton - They have had alot of success lately, and always have a lot of guys who can play PNG - Great season last year things are looking good for them.. returning alot from last year i believe Central - Has had alot of success lately as well.. always has a ton of speed, and i heard they have a good looking (freshman last year) QB coming up Kirbyville has had some good seasons the last 2 years, but i think the jump back up to 3A might give them some trouble.. Ford will still be a major force
 19.
no its not funny they swept. its funny how that young man looks at it.........  his only comment. is .. woo woo all district.. sorry
i meant it jokingly.. i really wish district 37 still had some representation in the playoffs.. but congratulations to all the district 38 teams that will be representing this area in the playoffs
 20. I guess we wont have to wait long for the District 37-4A all district

 23.

Lumberton - Montgomery Nederland - Magnolia West PNG - Huntsville LCM - Brenham That district all recieved byes and finished  1. Brenham  2. Montgomery  3. Huntsville  4. Magnolia West
The whole district got a bye? Weird. All I know is the Lady Raiders better be ready, the Mongomery team came to the playoff game to scout them. I sat right in front of them and they were constantly evaluating how our girls were playing and talking about match ups and such.
Yes, there is something like 4 districts where all the teams recieve a bye due to an odd number in the state i believe
 24. Lumberton - Montgomery Nederland - Magnolia West PNG - Huntsville LCM - Brenham That district all recieved byes and finished  1. Brenham  2. Montgomery  3. Huntsville  4. Magnolia West
 25. True, weather could definately be a factor, but both teams have to play in it
