Lightning delay on this one, but it looks like they are about ready to go.

I don't see Magnolia blowing anybody out, so it might be fairly close.

It doesn't matter what the weather forecast is.  New Caney won't score by air, ground, or sea.

As the state cuts school funding and districts lay off teachers, 70% of Carthage voters approve a special bond issue to pay for a 750K Jumbo-Tron.  It’s all just a big status symbol to say “Hey, look at us”.  And believe me, there will many other school districts that will rush to build a bigger one.  I’m beginning to think that schools no longer exist for education, but  for athletics.

Waller is still an unknown this year as they have just played one game.  El Campo beat them 31-0.  El Campo also beat Rudder 55-26 for comparison.  The question is: How awful is Willis?  Some preseason reviews had them at #3, but they appear to be more like #6 or #7 at best.  They definitely have had some tough competition to start the year, getting blown out by 42 and 49 points.  We'll see if they can rebound and handle Caney Creek this week.  This now looks like a winable game for Caney Creek.  I expect a close game.

Time will tell with Magnolia.  Looks like they had some success running the ball against 5A Bryan, but they did give up 300 yards passing.  I think they are better than initially expected, but I would also rank them middle of the District right now until they can prove they are a playoff team.

Huntsville had trouble stopping the option attack from College Park and lost by 23.  I see a similar result here.  I think Montgomery wins this by 21.  At least this time, it won't end the season for Huntsville as the last two matchups have. 

Once again, great analysis and no argument from me.  I will look forward to your weekly updates.  Your top 4 will all be playing each other this weekend, and I expect that 1 & 2 will prevail over 3 & 4.

Trinity defeated 1A Grapeland, but their bigger win was against Groveton in their first game.  I have to give the nod to Trinity over Kountze in this one.  I'll say 28-17.

Navasota hasn't given up a score yet, including the scrimmage against Montgomery.  Coldspring is going to have to keep this a low scoring game to win. 

Unlikely in the playoffs because Navasota will likely be D1 and Coldspring will definitely be D2

Both of these teams might be playing for a State championship this season.  I'll lean with Navasota in this one based upon last weeks results.  Hopefully Coldspring will come in with something to prove.   

Top ranked teams in 3A, 4A, and 5A all lost last weekend. Don't see that often.

Gotcha.  I see the Huntsville at Mag West game deciding 3rd place.  Of course, there could be some surprises along the way in this district.

Good job there Texasaggie, but don't seem so surprised that Huntsville actually won.  Your Power rankings are very good.  While Navasota is definitely loaded, I have seen nothing from Willis to see them making the playoffs this year.  I think Mag West and Huntsville take 3rd and 4th.
