2.
Oh okay, thats about 99.9% of us on this board. I'm trying to figure out whose in the elite 0.1% ;)
;D ;D ;D man u wild
 3. PAM started 3 soph and a freshman lastnite with 2 starters not playing, and some still think they have no talent..... :-\
 4. just asking are there suppose to be a kid from each school on this list?
 5.

Granted I have only seen the kid play twice, Zach English does not stand out to me as one of the top ten players in the area. He may not turn the ball over, but as from what I have seen, he is not that much of a threat unless he is posted up from behind the three point line. He is definitely not a better player than Zjori Bosha nor Devante Johnson, who I feel are probably top ten-fifteen in the area. What are your thoughts?
He is actually more dangerous when he penetrates. He can create a shot by driving, and he finishes strong. He shoots 8-10 FTs/game bc he gets fouled frequently while driving to the hoop. He's not 'explosive' like Prudhomme. He has deceptive speed, which allows him to beat his man when he has to. He is dangerous from beyond the arc, as you mentioned, but all 11 of his points last night were from driving to the hole.
:-X PATIENCE :-X
;D man u wild  ;)
 6.

PA may have all the talent in the world.  Playground ball is just exercise, recreation.  If the talent is not on the court winning games it is wasted IMO. I haven't seen PA basketball in awhile.  I'm just going by what I see in the papers and on the internet, especially here.  Also, PA just being in the playoffs, I don't know.  That's good; I'm not knocking.  But I don't have to recite PA basketball history.  You know it better than I do.  There used to be a time when as soon as basketball practice started for the season, and the players @ Lincoln tied up their sneakers, every team and high school basketball fan in the state of Texas took notice.  Those teams in the DFW, in Houston, they all knew about PA basketball being played at Lincoln.  To go from that to 'we make the playoff, that a serious change.  Please read & hear what I'm saying.  I am not dumping on PA basketball.  I wish coach Williams the best.  I just made statement based on the results, and what I am feeling about the results.
So no one fears southeast texas basketball anymore ;)
Most of the attention is directed toward a few teams in the Houston/Ft Bend area, and especially on the teams in DFW.
I agree  :-\
 7. I think all points are valid.  But to come on here and say, "Where's the talent in Port Arthur?" That is hilarious.  Like I said, I think Memorial being in the playoffs at the 5A basketball level is a fete itself.  No one came on here and blamed any coach for anything.  Yes, we do have our problems, just like every other school.  But with that being said, THIS team, THIS summer, beat a lot of these local schools and finished second in Silsbee behind a Central team with two West Brook starters on it.  Just saying... we don't talk about any other school.  I just think it's not fair that when we talk about talent, it leads to all the problems at Memorial.  Other districts have the same problems as the kids in Port Arthur... just saying.
 8.
Port Arthur Lincoln has been gone at least ten years.  What happened high school basketball in Port Arthur would be a better question.
I do believe PAM is always in the playoffs not to mention they do have kids playing in college..Just saying
 9.
Coach Williams had a nice pipeline of basketball talent coming off the play grounds of Silsbee.  Not so much in PA, at least not now.  But I am sure a nicer paycheck smoothes out all that.  Back in the day the idea that there is prolly more basketball talent in Silsbee than PA would of been laughed at.  Time brings about a change I guess.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D thats funny
 10.
I certainly didn't have this game as a blowout for Ozen. LCM is good, but their guard play has to improve if they are going to make the playoffs.
been saying this
 11. And I thought dove knew something bout basketball  :-X
 12.
nederland has 1 legit ball handler to break pressure or penetrate a defense for scoring chances, but hes in 5th or 6th grade lol.silsbee would have destroyed nederland with their pressure.good game west brook, thats why u play the game!
so true, being saying that all alone...... ;)
 13.
It's all about as many games as possible and more playing time for English. He prefers to play the very best teams he can find and isn't afraid to throw his dog's to the dog's so to speak. Many coaches are worried about accumulating wins - thus weak schedules. English believes your team gets better by playing better talent. These boy's will be ready by district for their run, even without those so called PA players from last year.  ;)
bless yo lil heart....... ;)
 14.
PAM pressure wasn't a factor at all. When Ned gets their outside game on consistently Watch Out! You got any individual stats Abe?
PAM did pressure in the second half and thats when it became a game....'' THE BETTER TEAM WON TONITE ''.  :-X

No Timouts being called or nothing. We expect a dep playoff run and we're not even competing with a 3a school. I know H-J is good, but geesh, show some fire and urgency. Lets see what we'll do in the second half.
A 3-A school. Sorry, but Central should be ashamed!
You have to look at the team and not the classification....There's 1A schools out there that can beat a lot of 3A's......but Dove, I cant help but think nash is behind this some how...
Put it this way, those Hj players can play with any 4 or 5a school in this area. They are well coached. Those kids stay within the game. i watched all three games and Hj and Silsbee has good sound coaches. Two 3a teams that can compete with any 4a or 5a  team in this area.
I think Ozen and PAM full throttle will be hard to beat IMO
 16.

We played H-J last year and #10 for them got probably the same amound of dunks.  I don't buy into that Dunk meter stuff.  I'm sorry.  Call me old school or whatever.  You dunk, and iLll beat you with a smooth layup or an open 3.  I bet the crowd or those excited players will sit down fast.  I do admit that our coach should have been more invilved or 'animated.  (see coach Travis Williams from Memorial). I do think we need timeouts when we have multiple turnovers that lead to multiple points.  I do think our best players need to be put in great positions to create havock on opposing teams.  I do see that #25 G. Mitchell is a good player and great athlete that can very well be another weapon if used correctly. Also, I think this team is good enoug to win our district.  This H-J team beat our defending district champs by 30. We do have one of the tallest teams from an average standpoint that I've seen in like a decade.  If we can find a really good guard and a few more shooters, we'll be ok.
In the situation we were in, the crossover on #20 made him put his head down. he answered with a flush of his own but, the damage was done. If he had more of a supporting cast as HJ's #10 he'd have responded better. I've played ball and it does something to you if you don't settle down. Now, how do you settle down? Keep your focus. Keep the course if you are having some success, something we were not having. Technically we are not sound. Our interior players aren't drilled on block outs. Our guards play D too straight up. No reason #12 wasn't pick by our guards. They stand straight up on D. They move side to side barely bending their knees. Good technic is bend knees, slap floor stay low. Shorter quicker players should win lower battles. you swipe enough balls it changes the way they play. We never contested their dribble. we didn't block out. We didn't hit open shots. Some of our shots were rushed. #25 was the only player that kept his composer. Every one else even #20 lost their heads. #24 has a ton of potential, but. Our guards could be awesome but. #20 could have been a thorn for HJ, but. I've watched a lot of basketball, and a dunk changes games at this level quicker than any other level. It does i must say depend on the coach being able to man and motivate his team. Make them understand those dunks are only worth two points. You gotta call a time out and calm the youngster if they look like deer staring in headlights as we were a few times. #20 gotta get off to make the jags go. Central has to hit does open shot and free throws. My jags need work.
well said
