(74 TD throws the last two yrs) So...lets say that Coldspring has the defensive line to pretty much stop Holland (and you just might from what I'm reading). But do you also have the secondary to match up with a prolific passing attack? Serious question, since maybe you have that too for all I know.
Really Trigger that made u happy to see.  I thought u said u were a former Trojan?  I mean if you are then how can you get on here and talk this way.  I think both running backs did an outstanding job this year.  Next year we won't have Cody so we will have to ride with Sherman.  I think it is kinda sad though that you get on here and think it is funny that Sherman got hit like that by a mch bigger kid, and if I'm right proclaimed to be a former Trojan.  I would love to know who you are because I'm a former Trojan as well. And.....there you have it. Coldspring had perhaps the best run defense I've seen against the Dawgs, but Morgan was given too much time to throw, and that's asking for trouble. Gilbert was definitely all that he was advertised to be- wow! Speed to burn and shifty-quick. Congrats on making it to the State Championship; no one can ever take that away from you.
Congratulations to Carthage on the big win!  I will say this, your offensive line sure improved over when they played Jasper last year.  I remember Morgan almost getting sacked several times then.  CS never got close.  And that is saying a lot to keep CS out. And yes, Gilbert is something special.  Just like his brother at Oklahoma State.  I had the privilege of watching both, and they can MOVE!
Gilbert played like the little brother of a great player.  Willie Gault was special too, but it takes more than speed to be a running back.  IF gilbert "jr." makes it to the next level, he won't be in anybody's backfield. He's special teams or DB material.  The kid has no power or fight to survive in the backfield.  Heck, compare him to the kid from Pearland and they are polar opposites.  Cummings was the better back! My fondest  ::)memory of Gilbert was towards the end of the game when Kendall Thomas tackled him as they tried to run Gilbert up the middle...Gilbert went limp as Thomas just wrapped his arms around him...Now that was special :o  :-*

Dude...Its called sarcasm

 4. Thank God for DVR's & recorders...this was one for the library for sure!  Both Gray & Wright had the complete package!  Will be excoiting to see how they both progress in the years to come.
My sentiments as exactly!  Atleast that Cummings kid had no fear, ran with heart and appeared to be just as fast or atleast within a 1/2-1 step.
 6.
CS----0 pts in the 2nd half. The future Longhorn MLB Thompson was putting in WORK.
And it was either him or someone else on Carthage D that apparently had Gilbert running scared the 2nd half...

 8. Was a good game.  Too bad 2nd half wasn't more competitive.  Unfortunately for my Trojans, what I suspected would happen...happened.
ITS NPT GONNA HAPPEN DUDE, HE'S A TO SLOW TO GET HIS HANDS ON GILBERT, HOW ABOUT THIS YOU LINE UP WITH HIM NECK TO NECK & SEE IF YOU BEAT HIM!!! IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU A HATER, BECAREFUL WHO YOU PUT YOUR MOUTH ON BECAUSE GILBERT IS NOT THE ONE!!!
In my day, I would have gladly accepted the opportunity; in fact I'd kill to be able to be back out there... However, thats beside the point.  Kendal Thompson, their #80, is a man playing amongst boys...and Sherman is a boy at 5'9 & 160lbs versus 6'3" & 232 with 4.7-4.6 speed.  I don't care how fast Sherman is; if he don't get the blocks, he don't get out of the backfield...its that simple.  It'll take team speed to counter their defense and I don't believe the o-line of the Trojans has the speed to take #80 out of the picture entirely.  He ain't an easy block, which is why he's going to the big leagues...but we'll see what Barbay has up the sleeve tomorrow afternoon.  If they take #80 out, then Barbay is a "Harry Houdini" ::) It'll all come down to the team who makes the least mistakes and controls the ball with a few breaks. I just won't be betting any money on my boys and for the record, as a former Trojan, I'm not a hater.  I know my football & I will be rooting for my Trojans, but "Ima gunna keep it 4 reel, 4 sho".
No, I did... I referenced two lists; 2 URL's... providing proof from the same combine of his 40 times.  ;)
 15.
He most definitely doesn't run a 4.69....He ran that with a sore/bad hammy...He didn't want to run at the combine but he was instructed to anyway....He might not be quite as fast as his brother yet but he's not far behind.... Coldspring has at least 3-4 other players that run 4.5's or a tad better and he's easily faster than any of them...
So you're basically trying to tell us that he would have been the fastest kid on the entire list at that combine...right, sure  Look dude, their #80 (Kendall Thompson) with his 4.7-4.6 speed will be more than sufficient to cover sideline to sideline, so IF Sherman or Cody gets a break, it'll probably be luck Theres a difference between timed speed and game speed, hence many of Shermans "break aways".  However, it might get crazy if that #80 gets "geeked up" when he sees Sherman with the ball... anything can happen when adrenaline kicks in...just saying Its the Coldspring System that Barbay has in place thats special; thats the coaches & their schemes...Don't assume that the athletes they have are superior, otherwise all the big boys (D1) would be knocking at their door and apparently that ain't happening except for Matt Wilson & (at 6'7" and 270 go figure) and the mighty Houston Cougars...

Gilbert on the other hand is quite simply put a difference maker....What makes him special is his speed...If he gets the slightest crease or gets to the corner you can go ahead and put 6 on the board....I know for a fact that he's special because UT doesn't come and pull kids out of class (to talk to them) when they're sophomores if they're not.... Cummings lack of measurables and elite speed may very well preclude him from being anything other than a really special highschool player but you can rest assured that you'll hear alot more about Gilbert next year (his senior year) and the years to come... The fact that Gilbert's older brother is playing as a true freshman at Oklahoma State and had a huge kickoff return for a TD against OU a few weeks ago sure isn't going to hurt either....
With all due respect, I've seen many players come and go, as well as many "so called difference makers" that never make "Big" beyond High School.  In my opinion, its the design (coaching), not a magical gift.  Breaking a corner in High School versus College, much less the NFL...do I need to go further???  My point was that all the hooplah about some article with jacked up stats is/was misguided...the real "Hosses" are the coaches, the d-line & o-line, not two "stand-out" high school players. Oh, and we're pulling for the Trojans, in case I'm misunderstood....

 20.
When are you SETX fans going to understand that a one dimentional team will only get you so far in the playoffs now! Coldsprings is a great team, and has a salty run game, and a great defense! However, KV has had the same thing 3 years now, and made it all the way the last two years, only to get beat by a more balanced offensive team. That will be the difference in this game! Carthage has the defense to slow down Coldsprings, and the balanced offense to score more points! Coldsring will have to honor Holland, or lose! That was proven against Brownwood! However, look at the capsule on this board, Carthage can do both on offense very well! If Coldspring has penalties, or a couple of TO's, and Carthage can get ahead, then this game will be over! I would have thought that KV would have learned this lesson by now! If Coldsprings does pull the upset, then I will give them all the respect they deserve! I'm just pointing out the facts! It will be much harder for Coldsprings to score more consistantly than Carthage, specially since Carthage has been in this game the last two years! Carthage will spread Coldsprings out, and get the ball to their speed in space, and let them make plays!  Coldspring-373yrds rush/ 62 pass,  100.3 pass allowed/80.4 rush Carthage-229 yrd. rush/ 215 pass        157.8 rush allowed/167 pass Which team will be easier to stop on defense???
Wimberley tried the same thing...to spread them out and it didn’t work.  Traditionally the more balanced team does win, but to say that the more balanced team wins ALL the time or that a running team with a killer defense can't win is ridiculous. Carthage ain’t the only “balanced” team Coldspring will have faced all season... Watch out for Jerrell “My Main Man” Sykes
