my favorite part of preview is in key games they have stratford at magnolia west...   nice to see that chron thinks mag west can prove themselves with a win over the spartans...last year was a real beatdown shs put on mag west, not sure if that will happen again, but i see a shs win   also agree, have not been all that impressed with magnolia the last 2 yrs...ill be keeping my eye on this district, be popping in from time to time....

stratford won today vs waller, so last game is vs brenham, i know we are in 4th, not sure if clinched or not, well maybe brenham will rest their top pitchers

i was at the vidor mont game, looked for a brenham fan, but vidor brought the whole town......     i learned a long time a go that when it comes to being a fan of any sport, we have no real controll over it, dont let the highs be to high or the lows to low, i think for to many (any any level) when their team wins, its a feeling of relief, when it loses, they are miserable, i say what the point of that....   and to all my fellow 174 a brethens, it was fun while it lasted, but this district is being sh%$ canned,(not surprising) looks like stratford is being sent south.....on to the next sport....GH

congrats to nederland, well played game, you came up with a few good plays in ot...   super proud of stratfords efforts, they played their hearts out,and when the starting qb and leading reciever both went down with fluke injuries early in game, they circled the wagons, and the d stepped up, team just came up a little short.......good luck in next round, enjoy the ride.......

yes i liked this thread better when it was all about ned rolling all over stratford...and yes on sat my favorite color will be green, more of a darker forest green then brenhams.......

andrew luck still playing for stanford, i think still has a shot at the heisman, that would be cool, a stratford alumi, #1 pick in draft and the trophy...no title shot though...     lets see what do we have....a good defense, one beast on the d line, he blows a lot of plays up, solid linebackers, not blazing fast, but have what i call tactical speed, the secondary is  stout, very fast, very athletic.....on offense, decent line, qb has a strong arm, some track guys at wideouts and running back, no big power runners, shs is well coached and plays disipline football,and i could be mistaken but i dont think they will be pissing on any sparkplugs

mag west is playing great fb right now,im sticking with 17 4a mag west 35   dayton    24

stratford here, not getting a lot of love on this thread, its all good, i think it will be a good game, will come down to big plays and mistakes,  seems like they have some similarities(well coached, discipline fb, good defense)   i just hope stratford coaches have a game plan where we can put more points on the board then the other team, if that involves pissing on a spark plug then im all for it :)

[/quote]   stratford here, what would you like to know? its our 2nd yr in 4a, so i dont know much about shs opponents, but that makes it fun...     stratford is in west houston, just south of i 10 west of the beltway, its in a nice area (and nice people) in football, state champs in 78 (led by craig james) had a lot of good teams from 78 to 93, then bottom fell out for more then a decade, new coaching staff comes in, took a couple yrs to right the ship, but we have made playoffs for 6th straight yr...also andrew luck was ou star qb a few yrs back (he is qb at stanford, heisman hopefull and will be taken #1 in draft).....we are usaully known for having a solid defense, this yr we have a very good secondary, 2 studs at safety, a lot of track speed, tactical speed at lb in our 3-4, and one stud at d end, hes a beast.. on the other side, we will mix it up, no big power running backs, but do have some speed.......i have no ideas what to expect sat, no common opponents, several miles apart, but this is tx, lots of good teams, i expect a good game

just got back from shs willis game, 3 major sequences....   (1) willis up 14 to 6, they pick off a pass, run it back with good field position, inside shs 30, shs d holds them in 3, then block the field goal and recovers, shs then goes lenght of field and scores, makes it 14 13 willis   (2)willis gets ball right back, thows a pick at midfield, shs safety takes it back to house......score shs 20 willis 14     (3)  end of 4th, willis is driving, they convert 2 4th down plays, mo is on their side, shs d is looking tired, willis hits a reciever at the one yard line, looks like the game winner, but shs safety (same one who scored on pick) drills him, willis fumbles ball into endzone, shs corner jumps on it...touchback...shs runs out clock...     great game, stratford came up witha few more big plays, that was the difference......

bf, im a little upset with brenham..my pick was 42 to 3....not asking for to much, just one more td :)

[/quote] i think a lot of times its about match ups, and sometimes teams and players rise to the occasion, and sometimes nothing goes right     not counting on winning this game, so looks like shs will play willis in 1st round, no home field...not sure what in the middle....     b.f. ill pm you, will get there early for food, il let you know when its set...........

mont shut down shs running game,  shs d played well in first half, looked like it would be a good game..........5 seconds left, up by several scores, i think most coaches would have taken a knee, hs college or pro.....but whatever though, what goes around.......

i dont think waller has much of chance, the only team i would say is montgomery.....brenham 45  waller 7

i changed my mind, i see a split in 17 and 18 4a, willis will be real strong along with humble, that should be great game, humble d vs willis o.... so willis might go small bracket and beat mag west, with humble hopefully playing mont and not stratford..but a split would be better for us then last yr...
