2. Lots of prayers being sent to Coach Welch and family from Nederland!
3.

I see...so apparently some parents didn't agree with their child paying the consequences for what they did. To each their own I guess...
Sources say the ones released obtained attorneys. The others have not, at this time. Not to mention I was told "who" each kid is connected to (parents are employees etc), probably makes a bit of difference as well. Just last year a female athlete in Ned was caught do something similar (alcohol related)....SHE was suspended the entire year....key word word SHE. There are 2 types of attention (well 3 if you count none at all) Positive and Negative......make decision based on that, but dont complain about the type you receive AFTER the fact. To one poster, I am not nor have I claimed to be the second coming....it just seems these days that ANYONE who insist on accountability is "holier than thou" ....not it at all. This whole country is going the heck in a hand basket because its always someone eles fault or they are just kids, etc. Bottom line, I guess all of this is Bush's fault.
Agreed! :)
4. The steps being...... completing their time at the alternative campus and agreeing to take part in mandatory drug testing.
5. If everytime a kid got into trouble they could appeal it, administration would be BUSY!
6. You don't have a clue as to what I do or don't know.

8. I am just wondering why only 2 out of the 5, who so happen to be the football players, are getting out of their punishment early?
9. They should at least follow the school guidelines for all involved. If it states that it is a 6 week suspension for an alcohol/drug related offense then that is what they should carry out. These kids did break the law and a 6 week suspension should be the least that they should do. Missing a game or two is not teaching them a thing. Especially considering that the others are at this time carrying out the punishment that they received. When you are in extracurricular activities it is a privilege. Therefore, you have a commitment to set a good example. If the others weren't in athletics then they should get their school punishment and the others that participate in other activities should face the school consequences and the consequences from whatever organization they are involved in.
10. Isn't that the truth?! lol But, all of these kids are athletes. Just not "football players".
11. You believe the media? I have never heard of a punishment where they have a list of things to do in order to be reinstated. Normally you are given the punishment, you serve your time and then you are reinstated. I just find it to be a huge coincidence that only the 2 football players have been released early and the 3 others are still finishing out their punishment. What is that teaching the kids?
12. The irony of it all is that only the 2 football players are back at school. The 3 other boys remain at the alternative campus. What is really going on?!
13. Nope....it's no mistake. The adult was not providing the alcohol but they were allowing the kids to drink and have a party at their home. Yes it was in Port Neches and it has been said that the teens from Orangefield were there. The teens from Nederland were there as well. One group of teens made a bad decision and are able to learn from it. The other group will not have that opportunity. While some parents are upset because their child might miss out on something due to their punishment, there are parents grieving the loss of their child. We will pray for them and pray that there are consequences for these parents that are making poor choices not only for their children, but for others by allowing these parties to take place that involve alcohol.
14. The real issue here is that these kids were at a party that was accompanied by at least one adult. This is happening way too often. It's hard enough to raise kids without parents contributing to the issue. I hope all involved have learned from this and now it's time to move forward. Good luck to all players tonight. Go Bulldogs!
15. I am pretty sure their parents were not aware of their actions. We were all teenagers once. I know I told my parents I was staying somewhere and went elsewhere. That is just part of growing up. They are all good kids that made a mistake. All that we can hope is that they learn from it. That is if the parents will let them serve their time and leave it alone. Some will and some won't!
