  1. just to let everyonbe know the balls wasnt switched out every play. it was more like every three plays. so please get your facts straight before you talk. lol Maybe you should learn to read before you talk. Balls are generally switched in every 2-3 plays during wet conditions.
  2. I think ther ewere about 20 kids there last night, I don't know the breakdown of 9/10 because they had them all together.
  3. Reece will see you there. I, unfortunately, have to work.
  4. So according to the way you look at things I still don't see how you get BC better than HJ. You realize HJ beat Woodville, who beat Kountze 59-0. So going by the way you do HJ should have no problems with BC because BC could only beat Kountze 34-11 and beat a less than stellar Liberty team by only 8. But I guess looking through cardinal Colored glasses will do that to a person.
  5. Part of the reason is that there are only about 4-5 9u teams in the area. I have been looking for one for my son for a while, the only 2 really having open tryouts are both in Orange and because of my work schedule we'd never make it to practice on time.
  6. 5-3 was right. HJ scored twice in Controlled part and 3 times in quarters. Hardin scored 1 in controlled and 2 in quarters. Hardin scored 1 HJ 0 in JV controlled portion. Neither team dominated the other. To answer the question above, I am not sure who the Villemez kid is, but I know Hardin had a player that sat out and I was told it was one of their best players. Not sure if it was him or someone else.
  7. So now it is illegal to have a sled with pads. If the pics showed kids pushing the sled that would be one thing btu I am willing to bet there are many schools that have sleds with pads on them. Right now, HJ has all their equipment stored on the old baseball field because of construction of the new school and the unavailability of the new practice facilities. If the cameras were so inclined they could have taken pictures of all kinds of equipment out there, none of which was being used during practice. :
  8. It's illegal to use them in a contact drill not to run around them or use them as a place marker on o-line or such.
  9. I really expect the Pinto team to make some noise, that is a fabulous group of ballplayers. Good luck to both teams.
  10. One thing Orange did was to have the batter talk to the 3rd base coach about the pitches. That was a good strategy and perfectly legal. I'm not sure how much it helped the pitcher but I can bet it didn't hurt.
  11. No walks. They are on a pitch count. There are also no steals. The catcher has the option of squatting or standing as I remember it. If he squats and gives a target to the opposing coach to throw at then the coach is more likely to be able to throw better pitches for his team to hit. If he doesn't have a target which is an option then it's harder for most men to throw where they are trying to throw. I see. So we are just throwing out teaching the fundamentals of catching just to win. What is this league for, BTW? I will put my son's catching ability up against anyone else in the tournament. He had about 4-5 outs at the plate over the course of the tournament, and unlike the poster above implied he did block most of the balls pitched and caught quite a few. It wasn't a decision about fundamentals. edit: Thanks TD.
  12. No walks if that were the case the pitcher would just walk in 5 runs every inning and no one would win. Runners cannot advance unless the ball is hit.
  13. Since my son was the catcher I do know he asked him if he was wearing a cup after a ball hit him near that spot. But he was also talking to the batters the umpire admitted as much to me when I asked him about it. the problem was the umpire was not clear on the rule, until the director told him no communication was allowed by the pitcher with the batter. As far as all the balls going to the backstop you must have been asleep through much of the game, even without a glove they at least knocked most of the pitches down. A few did get through, those must have been the ones you were awake for. Regardless of anything else the big difference was the Orange kids hit the ball great tonight and the TC kids didn't, that's how it goes sometimes.
  14. TC holds them off 11-9. Both teams played great
  15. UhOh weather.com radar shows it is raining at the ballpark.
  16. Not sure how much they got but I saw a report on teh weather channel that said they were supposed to get some tonight startign between 5 and 6. Not trying to be pessimistic just passing along the info i saw.
