1. Should he even apply? I mean if Newton hires anyone other than "WT" there's no way they could be successful, right???
 2. So I have heard a lot about this WT guy. What exactly does he offer that is a "must have?" Didn't he leave Newton? Why is everyone so quick to invite someone back that left?
 3.
Going into the fourth quarter behind two touchdowns, not good. Newton had been playing lackluster ball with no heart. Something must have clicked as the entire team seemed to catch fire and come at Woodville. Scored once, scored twice, including two two point conversions, then big hit on Woodville busted play and recovered fumble, game over. Exciting Newton Eagle football again. This was the first time there appeared to me to be a team heart. Maybe it took pushing them to the wall. I just hope they found what they have been missing. Good game Newton Eagles. Tough loss for Woodville.
Well said.
 4. Remove the rose colored glasses and look. I've seen many, many Eagle teams in the past and this one has had problems from the get go. The defense(and I use that term lightly) has been non existent for two years now. You can not be an outstanding team without having a good defense. The only game this team has shown up for was the Silsbee game. I don't always agree with SouthArise but they have every right to post on this board without your approval and continued attempt at being the all everything voice of Newton. Blindly following does not a leader make. If you want the "boys" to continue to be "boys", protect them all you can and give them candy at the end of the game. If you want the "boys" to become young men, expect them to stand up and be counted, as I do. I have 43 years of Newton athletic dedication, how many you got?
but the No argument from me. The ??defense?? is lacking a certain fire that great defenses have. This team has to have a leader step up and take charge.  The players need to hold each other accountable and up to a certain standard but I don’t think that is going on right now. To many Indians and no chief. All I was saying is that it’s a little early to throw the Newton Eagles out of the race just because of a little choppy water. But SouthArise throws darts any chance he gets.  Also, I have 23 years  of being a Newton eagle fan.
 5.
Can they Rebound?
Why do you continuously attempt to measure a team that is one week removed from losing the definition of NEWTON, TX?  Last week the varsity practiced a total of 6 hours that was spread out over the course of 4 days. Please let the “boys” find themselves and figure out what’s what before people throw them under the bus with all the criticism. They will be fine. Without a doubt they will “bounce back.” Find something else to do besides writing meaningless and degrading posts about a team you supposedly played for. Where is your team pride? Where is your dedication?
 6.
District race has got alot more interesting
Has "GOTTEN"
 7.
Not really an embellishment, #42 and #71 were pretty physical on defense.  #5, #25 and #3 all had great speed.  #5 ran their only TD from 69 yards, nobody on Bunas' squad came close to catching him once he got outside.  I didn't say Hemphill was a good football team, they just had more talent, but just couldn't find a way to get it done.  Anyway, I am just pretty proud of the way our Cougars played!
Totally understandable
 8.
Buna wins 34-6. Once again, Cougar defense was just nasty.  Can't say enough about that group of young men. Hemphill was physical and had quite a bit speed, but Buna just kept shutting them down.  Coogs offense looked pretty solid in their final tuneup before district scoring 4 TD's.  Jacob Craft, hurting coming into the game, looked pretty sharp running the ball, racking up 3 touchdowns.  Great win Cougars!!!  Let's get ready for district.  See you in Buna Friday night. Thoughts and prayers out to the Garrett family and WO-S.  Terrible loss.
That descrpition of Hemphill does not sound accurate at all. The Hemphill team I heard about "Couldn't pour Pi$$ out of a bucket." So I'm just trying to figure this post out... A little embellished? Might be. See YOU in Buna Friday night!!!
 9. Newton Eagles- 40 Silsbee Tigers- 26 Don't you just love it when a plan comes together... Or a football team. Good job Eagles.
 10.
The Future of the Newton Eagles looks very promising considering the play of there young talented players,#3 Kevin Shorter, RB  looks very good he is only freshman and with the way he retured kicks vs Kville and his 115 yards rushing yards and 70 yard punt return for a TD vs Corigan Camden.. also #1 Dj dean soph. looks to be a very good rec and backup QB to another young player Trevor Holmes Junior QB 6'3 215 . one other young player Junior Wr Tim Simmons looks as if He is playing with alot of confidence from the experice of starting his soph yr. My assessment of this Team gives me reason to beleive that Newton is in a Rebuilding stage that will lead to many more victories in the next few years, and with New young coaches like Malcolm Isom learning under One of the best Coaches in Texas (Barbay)Newton is Moving in the right directions even if they take a few bumps and bruies in this Season.
Please before you post something on here copy paste to a word document to check you AWFUL spelling. You are making your self look like you didn't finish COLLEGE....
 11. Word on the street is that the HC job with sonn be up for grabs... Something about him "just not being a good fit"
 12. Well... Warren lost a very winnable game and imma say the lose this one as well...
 13.
Goin to be a tough game for both teams. I wanna see my boys from Huffman come out with the W but I don't know anything about K-Park to make a decent guesstimation of the score.
Let start with a WIN LOSS prediction and say Huffman with the win. Also The comment about the only huffman team to beat liberty.... thats kinda nothing to be proud of. They werent good AT ALL...
 14.
The Control of the staff I was refering to has been getting out of control for the last 3 seasons enough to make a DC leave town and a few other good coaches . enough that 12 players were MIA for Mondays practice..............but its week one things look bleek but it will all work out in time, I hope.
This guy needs to get a hobby besides running down teams he could never play for... The fact is this guy probably sits by and gets second hand information and spreads it around like he is in the mix. Get a life. Leave the kids and this coaching staff alone. Apparently hard time are going on so the last thing everybody needs is another bystander running them into the dirt. Thing will come together and start clicking. P.S. Meek: The light on my street is out. Come work on that for me... Thanks.
 15. Seriously? This Huffman team is a differant animal all together. If Huffman doesn't hang up 45, it was a bad night for them but i don't see that being the case. Huffman- 45+ Kashmere- 21-
