1. Arp 2A Div 2 vs Gladewater 3A This should be a good game both teams should be lookng for a win. Arp 2A Div 2 which took some lumps early against 3 straight tough opponents early found rythme after changing from the spread to a ground attack offense and putting up 518 yards rushing thru 4 players getting 100 each against a down Westwood team. Arp after having 5 sr's hurt from injury and 1 from sickness during the first 2 scrimmages will be back healthy this week and is looking to show they are still the team everyone thought they would be. Gladewater 3A is coming off of an exciting thriller they lost to the Brownboro Bears 48-42. They have athlete RB Cory Davis who has avg'd nearly 300 yards rushing in 3 games straight and looking to put Gladewater Football back to form after having a few downs years. Even at 1-3 Arp is still may be Gladewaters toughest opponent yet and should give the Bears a good idea of were they stand going into district
 2. you know last year when Arp played Kville, I couldn't understand why we didn't stack the box and make that QB beat us. We had to start a Freshman at DB that game for his first start ever but still. Kville didn't know it. Instead Arp stayed in it's base Defense thru to the end.
 3.
Kirbyville vs. Muleshoe 2008 Worst defensive set I have ever seen in my life only if Coach Johnston would have been here. We had 2 to 1 better athletes than muleshoe. But they beat us 48-26.
They flat out ran you in that game. I saw it. Muleshoe was just that much better and Kville had no answer for the speed of that RB and speed of the line. I would have loved to see that same team had played DF. It would have been a good one.
 4. I think this year Newton doen't want a rivalry. They just want to survive this game without injury. Kville by 21....
Put the bottle down!!!!!!!!
Those mustang grapes must have turned bad on the vine this year up in Kirbyville.
theres two things I can promise you!  First of all, jjspeed8, is not from Kirbyville, we have enough village idiots not adopting this one for sure!!!!  and Second the Mustang grapes are always sour in Kirbyville!!
jjspeed is from Arp...That's the nicest thing I ever heard him say about Kirbyville...especially after the 2 year spanking they got from the Wildcats.. ;)
Just calling it like I see it. You guys took our best and beat us twice. I do feel like Kirbyville will be one of the top 2 teams in 3A. I also think Fred Ford will be the best 3A player in the state. Look for him to carry that 3A MVP trophy at the end of the year. Has he commited anywere yet. I there have been several wanting him.
 6. I am going with Kirbyville to win it all so I pick the at # 1 the rest will just have to live with it. Yep you heard it heard from ol jj Kville will win state in 3A this year. I think their biggest test will come from the winner of the Gilmer,Henderson district. If they beat that district in the playoffs they will win it all. Fred Ford will be the best player in 3A.
 7. 2008 Arp vs Kville. State qtr finals it was one the best games I ever saw my team play even though we lost it. 2009 Arp vs Kville .......heck no couldn't have beat them if we had played 4 times, but 2008 we could have and should have. Both teams were freakin awesome in 2008. I think even if we were to lose again in that rematch it would be worth seeing 2007 Arp vs Elysian Fields State Qtr Finals smoaky.com game of the year. Arp lost with :06 left to play on a hail mary pass.
 8.
;D ;D well we will just haft to wait till 2010. i will say thay may be in the playoffs and thats about it.its going to be very hard to replace a QB that passed over 1,000 this  year and 33 TD.thats just for starters  and do think he had over 600 yards rushing 18 TDs are something like that lol. sorry for the spelling
Gilmer Sophmore back up played most of the 4th qtr against Vega and he looks very impressive. Gilmer also had a ton of young players rotating in and out. Gilmer will be very good next year. They have more kids than you think. I think they had well over a 1oo kids on the side line. From what i saw I believe they will not miss a beat next year.

The way it stands now, thats a tough schedule.  We also don't know yet how many other teams will be in their new district.  They may not need to find any more teams.  If they do though, I bet they will have to travel a little to find any takers.
First off Arp is not going to be down. They come back with a ton of returning players at skill positions and return 3 6'5 + guys on the Oline along with Standout possible D1 player  DT Jamie Warren. Second were in the world did yall hear Arp wouldn't play Kirbyville like Arp was scared or something. Last I heard from the best sorce I have is that the Arp staff was trying to set that game up. Now maybe something has changed in a week IDK but Arp coaches every year try to schedule agressively. Now it could be possible some of the 3A's offered to play Arp that are closer drives idk but please don't assume Arp wouldn't play you because they might be down next year they won't be. They will be a very strong title contender next year. Don't forget there were 4 sophmores and a freshman on offense and 2 junoirs. Arp will be a better team next year and we all know it. Arp's returning starters are offense QB # 11 Kyle Copeland SO. RB # 21 Kasey McKlendon SO (kirbyville didn't get a chance to meet this young man but 1 play do to injury) WR # 4 Andrew Brown jr WR # 12 Delvin Bagley SO (Did not play Kirbyville)injury WR # 8 Bran Holloway SO( Did not play Kirbyville)injury Ol Dylan Stienback 6'6 300 lbs Jr (was not supposed to play Kirbyville but came in during the 4th qtr) injury OL Bryan McKnigth 6'6 255 lbs SO OL KJ Howard jr RB\WR Mike Robertson # 3 Freshman started in place of bagley against Kirbyville. WR Steven Cerica So started for Holloway Defense has 7 reuturning starters I feel pretty good about our team next year
JJ thanks for the post...Good Luck to the Arp Tigers next season,I enjoy all the talk on the forums, and since I understand you a little better now...as we say down here in the woods...'you ain't a bad ole boy'... ;D
Thanks wildcat same to you guys as well. I was really hoping these 2 would continue it's games after the last 2 years of great football games. I know you guys have beat us both times but that to me shouldn't matter for preseason games. It's about preparation and I thought that these 2 could help each other and give Arp a shot at what I believe will be the # 1 Div 1 team next year. They will get my vote.
the jasper game is a good rivalry. daingerfield is better than arp. one of the best in 2a, SOLID 3a competition, and trying to make a statement against a 4a?  sounds like a plan
Diangerfield healthy yes but prior to week 9 no way. Niether would have Kville. Injuries killed Arp from week 9 on. lost 3 starters week 9 and 2 more week 10. Cooper and Wade were both injuried during the Kville game. Wade right shoulder bone bruise and Cooper Bruised sternem. Arp and DF looks to have commited verbaly for week zero. That will put that monster to rest early. I am looking forward to a 2 year battle with DF. I was really hoping Kville would have worked out because we all know they will come out slugging next year. To answer the thread question for Arp. I would love to see Arp play DF week 0 Kville week 1 Chapelhill week 2 Palestine week 3 WhiteOak or Jefferson week 4 All that depending on how many teams are in the district and depending on if Arp goes D2 which all indications say they will but crazier things have happened.
Is this because WOS brings their own refs ? I think even they may shy away from playing Kville.
WOS, as like Kville, has a lot coming back and coming up from JV. I think WOS is the only small school next year that can even hang with Kville. IMO
heard you might find out about that small school thing next year week 1.
 14. Kirbyville did very good against Arp's Spread offense. They got to the QB and beat the line almost all night and that is how they beat Arp. Pilot Points Oline was huge and very well coached. They didn't make to many mistakes and were stronger than the Cats or blocked the cats should I say, and that is how they got beat. The spread was designed for a team that didn't have great linemen and could make up for it by spreading the defense out and forcing the defense to respect the pass. If a team has a great oline then the spread will exel like no other because not only does it make the pass a threat it then creats a run threat. The spread is about timing and reads so the defense has to find a way to break the recievers timing, but in reflect to that the DB has to be careful not to put to much pressure as getting burnt deep can happen or he could end up getting blocked easier and leaving a running lane. Most teams implement the Vere into the spread giving them multible options in the run pass game forcing the defense to have to watch for who has the ball then react.
 15. Arp returns 8 offensive starters 7 defensive starters and 22 letterman Key players returning QB Kyle Copeland So RB/FS Kasey McKlendon So RB/DB Jerod Amie So LB/DB Seth Stroup aka Doc Jr DT/DB Jamie Warren Jr OT/DT Dylan stienback Jr 6'7 300 lbs OT/DT Bryan McKnight So 6'6 245 lbs WR/DB Mike Robertson Freshman G/DE Cody Roseburg DB/WR Bran Holloway DB/WR Delvin Bagley
 16. just incase one of you are wondering about the banged up thing with Arp, they were short 3 starters that game and started some freshman. 77 was not supposed to play but did in the second half anyway. Cooper had a severaly Bruised sternum from the Jefferson game. Cooper would not have played at all if that game would have been a regular season game. Those aren't excusses because as I said before I thought Kville had the better over all team but it could have made a difference. Anyway sorry to get on Arp this is your week not Arps. Good luck guys

We will be there rooting you guys on. Pilot Point 28 Kirby's 16 Good luck I hope I am wrong
Just for fun jj if you predicted Kville to lose to Pilot Point by 12..If Arp played them give me your prediction on that game... ;D ;)
Differant styles of play and Arp was really banged up going into the Kville game. The only reason I have to believe PP may win is because of the lack of passing game Kville has. But that by far doesn't mean you will even have to throw the ball. But if you guys get in a position that you have to throw I think you will be in trouble. Either Good luck guys go bring that gold to the house. It would make me fell better to lose to the champs than to lose to the runner up.
